And yeah, the mafia won all those 3 games. The first one went all the way down to the wire (final 3). The second and third one were stomped by the mafia teams.
Do you guys have set formats, or does it vary? Im interested in bringing some more tested formats here for balance. We always have civs win here.
I wish I could say I was good enough to compete, but it’s clear that’s not the case. Synonym, Chief, RF are my top 3 choices given that Vynce took himself out of the running
Edit: I feel like that format would lead to entire forums conspiring together. If we can all spectate the game, then we can all give our input to the player without anybody being the wiser. Seems dangerous! But also a fun/good idea, nontheless
Don’t mean shit if you can’t win; I’m no closer obviously. When Im civ I get killed too early to contribute; when Im mafia I am too feared to let live. Granted that would alleviate a bit with other websites not knowing me : )
Is it any different than having a player’s phone number? Theoretically I could text you the list of Mafia from the Loser’s Lounge. It’s based on the same trust that everyone always has to put forth in these games.
One more thing: @thingyman are there any rules against a forum’s members coaching their rep before the game starts? I understand once the game is underway it’s outlawed, of course, but are there any restrictions beforehand?
The difference here is that the games are less personal, you have to consistently play with the players on SRK so having trust is necessary. With these one offs, its less important. I don’t know why but I feel its a bigger issue for a game like that.
Very interesting question, haven’t had that one pop up before. But sure, that’s allowed.
As for the concerns about sites conspiring, I’m not sure I understand. You’re afraid that a player will be getting reads from his/her home site spectating the game? I have been monitoring the different sites during the games and making sure there are no problems on that end. I of course can’t say if any players have been getting advice during the game in private, but oh well, I trust champions to not have to rely on “cheating” like that. And even if something like that happened, it’s not like it’s breaking the game, so it’s not something that I worry about to such a degree that I’d have the game played in a private place with no spectators.
Sweet, the SRK Broken Technology™ is unknown as of yet. When are you going to be revealing the players and setup, sometime between the 2nd and the 5th, correct?
Guys, here’s what I’m thinking with this. We have a period of time after the players are known before the game officially begins. There will be at least 10 other players that none of us have ever heard of. If we assign one person on SRK to investigate (skim a game or two they were in) a player and then brief our guy that would give him an advantage going into the game while not being a crazy amount of work for any one person. For example, if someone were to research SWBeta on this site before the game started they’d know that he’s killed very early on. If nothing else that would tell them that he was a significant threat, not just “kinda the best I guess” of us.
Dammit, why couldn’t this have happened during Bious’ game?
@Thingyman, normally there wouldn’t be an issue and we’d give you a player with no withdrawals, but we’ve got a game starting in 2 days, which is just unfortunate timing. Because of this, just know that the person we send might not be the first pick of the majority, but it will be one of our high-tier players.
I mean, if someone has to sit out your game I GUESS I could volunteer for the position. After all, I’m simply not worthy of playing in a game run by you Alpha.
and keep your stupid aboriginey bullshit to yourself too, since we wouldn’t even understand that crap. Except that countries outside America got some wildly open problems with hate too.
