Obviously, MP got the jester role. If we lynch him, he wins and Mafia will gain 2 kills on night 1.
Don’t.Do.It.

Nope, give me a minute.

Okay, got some crazy ideas regarding the first Mafia member. Feel free to reject all of them.
By keeping his spare Death Note, Light can avoid choosing a second Mafia in order to gain a second life to survive one day lynch or to be ‘protected by the Medic’ for one night.
[The second life thing doesn’t seem useful, but if the Mafia makes it to the final 3, it’s an insta-win. The Medic ‘protection’ also stops players from having a confirmed civilian.]
By giving his spare Death Note to another player, Light gains an ally (+1 Mafia). If he chooses to, Light can give his Death Note to another player during any point of the game, unless he has already used it for a second life/Medic protection.
[If Light is able to choose his extra Mafia mid-game, this allows him to convert anyone that role-claims, losing the civs a role. This can also be used to stop people from ‘confirming/trusting’ certain people. Conversions will not be publicly announced.]
So yeah, these were both based around Noodle’s suggestion to be able to pick himself.
Pretty much what I was trying to do was make staying a solo Mafia a viable strategy. Hopefully these ideas add more possibilities for confusion and yomi without making the Mafia too powerful. Let me know what you guys think.
Nevermind, I’m an idiot.
Doesn’t matter to me, but it really seems that if you’re gonna recruit, there’s really no reason not to do it mid game instead of pregame. And it should probably show up in the write up that somebody was recruited.
I also feel like #1 is kinda underpowered… the medic at that point knows who the mafia is with 100% accuracy and just has to role claim. I don’t think I’d ever go with #1 personally
Statistically speaking, having an extra life in a format like this is pretty deadly due to the fact that you are half as likely picked from random lynching. You’ve gotta be fucking ballsy as Light, but damn would it be powerful if you can pull it off.
And as Peewee said, having extra protection by medic would be a waste unless you can assign any of the player to be “protected” by medic, not just yourself.
Also, for 2), it should be an instant fail (and Light loses a chance of using the extra life) if you land on the medic or detective.
actually yeah, if it’s not a choice pre game, and you retain both options, then that makes more sense than how I envisioned it working.
I dont see the protected by medic thing ever really coming into play, and if you die by day lynch and don’t die, they just lynch you again the next night, right?
oh shit I said “lynch the next night” I must be mafia, quick Lynch Pimp Willy
^ You forgot to underline it, PeeWee.
Lynch Pimp Willy bandwagons
NoodleHead’s edited two too many times for the game.
DQ!
Should we put this in the Death Note?
In all honesty, for the Allstar game, I think we’re convoluting the game mechanics a bit too much.
Let’s just keep it simple, methinks. Let the people with the best reads and strategy win out instead of making it more role and mechanic heavy.
^ not w/o a reason. Well, I am leaving this to the GM.
Doesn’t seem to be any downsides, like he doesn’t lose anything when he gives a deathnote to somebody. But gains a lot while he sits back and waits for his move.
Remember from what most will say about this show, I didn’t care too much stopped watching when the weenie voice girlfriend became a mainstay and it was spoiled for me, it got really complicated - lets use the terminology of a Mafia game: When the main character Light was lynched. The killing continued. Which made almost no sense even in anime where they have their own world of plot holes.
He can steal the Medic or Detective. But since he’s playing from the start as the lone Mafia, OHKO no health Akuma mode, the game can be over real quick randomly or after proper research/slipup if he doesn’t get his teammate before he’s Lynched.
The thing about picking your decision early is so that you can get the second mafia member, guaranteed, whoever you want, before the other roles are chosen.
The risk of choosing later is that if the decision is made on special roles, Light would automatically lose the “+1” because medic and UC are not convertable, or at least in my opinion, shouldn’t be converted.
On the subject of Light recruiting the second Mafia mid game: It sounds like fun. A lot of fun. Light can recruit any non-Medic/UC player in the game at any time, correct? And what would happen if Light tried to recruit Medic/UC? Obviously he now knows their identity so there has to be some kind of negative repercussion. Maybe preventing Light from killing them for a night or inform the Medic/UC that they’ve been targeted for recruitment?
