and I haven’t watched anime in years 
As far as Anime’s go, Eva was alright. It would do better if some of the storytelling wasn’t so contrived. I like thinking about what I’m watching, but to leave something as a garbled mess to where you need to dedicate a lot of time on figuring out the plot is just tedious. Plus now that I’ve grown older and wiser, its just more of Japan doing what they do: taking people’s religions and tentacle fucking them for the sake of writing a show/game/anime.
As far as Mecha action goes, Great Martian Successor: Nadesico is fantastic. Not because of any one action sequence but because the satire runs deep in that show. Pretty certain that if I grew up in Japan there would be more jokes in it that just went straight over my head.
Big ups to Hikaru No Go. No idea why that show was so damn mesmerizing but it was. Go is a godlike game.

This is the scene I remember ever time I think of Evangelion. The sheer visceral nature and the fact that he’s ripping through the very fabric of space makes this one of my favorite Eva scenes, if not anime scenes ever.
I liked Evangelion mostly for the details, they put a lot of references and made it very discrete but coherent. But the main reason is the design of the Evas, which were at the time quite novel for mecha. The concept of them being biological weapons and considerations like power output limits made it feel a lot more realistic than the infinite power source mechs we see in other anime.

I honestly barely remember anything about hikaru no go…but it’s because of that series that I play go today, so it will forever have a place in my heart. Also, I’m positive pertho’s first paragraph has several positives that should have been negatives.
Sorry about the shitty post, fruit loops got in the way. This also the start of awesome video game summer. Question is what to finish first: FFXIII, FFXII, Odin Sphere, Shadow of the Colussus, or start and finish Wild Arms 3. Damn, also have resistance, Arkham Asylum, Arc The Lad collection, Shadow Hearts: Covenant, God of War 1-3, Destroy all Humans and…Dual Hearts.

Which is funny since IIRC, the anime didn’t have any actual meaningful conclusion. As much as came to grow to dislike Inuyasha, I’ll give the anime credit in having good ending music. That’s pretty much all the credit I can give it, though.
I like how you imply that people who read and/or watch One Piece don’t think looks matter. While I can not being able to get past One Piece’s odd designs, as I’ve told Million multiple times, being “odd” doesn’t mean that something “sucks”. “Sucks” to me would have to be like Stylistic Suck levels of “drawing” or extremely weird anatomy (with no real explanation) for singular characters, usually in the form of massive tits (coughTsunadecough) or such.
Even if liking One Piece meant that looks didn’t matter to me, then I’d gladly have that be true than reading something with a shitty plot like Bleach; I haven’t bothered with Naruto in a couple of years, so all I know of anything remotely recent after the whole Izanagi debacle is Kabuto apparently returned as a necromancer and decided to use that broken technique no one ever used and do so en masse.

I thought that FFXIII tried to discourage grinning anyway, though. Regardless, if that’s the case, then all RPGs are kind of off-limits, so just go with Shadow of the Colossus (which I still have yet to play, so I have no opinion on it).

Well, Arc the Lad 1 can be finished in about 10-15 hours; Arc 2 will take about 20-30. Pretty short and quite easy too so you can save them for whenever.

I actually think that, outside of a few things like (mint) ice-cream and well-made cake, I’ve come to hate sweet things. I can’t really stand chocolate anymore either.
I actually had given up completely before that with the whole Pein “Let’s REVIVE EVERYONE! (except Jiraiya)” debacle; I had given before that after the Itachi “twist”, not because I didn’t see it coming, but because of Orochimaru’s fate and…other things (mostly related to Madara). The whole Izanagi stupidity with Danzo (or whatever his name was) just happened to be the thing that I came back to when I gave it one final chance.
Never again.
At least Bleach, for all its stupidity, was a gradual decline of constant disappointment during the Winter “War” before I just gave up on it completely when Kubo ass-pulled that “hey, ghost-train’s tunnel is a hyperbolic chamber” bullshit.
