That’s from End of Evangelion, which is…basically the third version of the ending. There’s the original TV ending, the Death and Rebirth ending (which is basically a rewrite of the last 4 eps), and then EoE, which continues with the end of DandR. I wasn’t completely “fuck Eva” until I saw EoE.
There’s three endings? What the fuck.
I always saw EoE as a “fuck you” to the people who didn’t like the original ending. I liked both.
If I ever get a 72’ HDTV and a blu-ray player I’m getting the new redone EVA. Also, I can’t believe I slept on Gurren Lagan for so long. Life kept me busy but it surprised me to see good anime that came out after 2004-2005.
(The fact that Red2Go apparently got banned almost makes up for the fact that now every time I change a page the first thing I see are Daigo’s rape-eyes.)
Lol at people talking about Evangelion. I really need to stop linking to random things if it’s going to make you guys fight over the simplest things. That or link to such things more.
Like Warpticon’s saying, Shinji’s not necessarily supposed to be likable, merely understandably fucked up, even before the movie (which I’ve still never watched) made even that area a bit more, uh, murky. Of course, part of the reason he why generally gets a lot more flack than anyone else in Evangelion cast is because he’s the only regular male, meaning the he’s the only male that regularly bitches. The whole double standard of men not being able to show any emotion other than (maybe) angry combined with the inevitable comparisons to all other males in show, whom are all generally also fucked up but stoic about it, doesn’t really help. I’m sure he’d get a lot more sympathy if he had tits and/or was attractive, even if it was the exact same situation. If that’s what “bitchmade” is, then it really is another (unsurprising) double standard, especially since most of the fucked up shit that happened to him was completely out of his control.
As for Evangelion in general, yeah, it’s overrated. I still think it’s good, though. It’s biggest problem is that whole Christianity angle ultimately adds pretty much nothing and thus is much of the source of its false depth. Removing basically all Christian references, which are pretty much there only because Christian imagery is pretty cool in Japan since it’s exotic, would still keep the anime’s main theme of human isolation and all the other fucked up things that humanity does to each other while wanting connections around.
Aren’t we all technically related anyway? It’s not like incest even guarantees genetic defects, just makes it a lot more likely to occur. That combined with the fact that people are generally attracted to people like themselves or like someone important to them, which is usually family, makes it somewhat easy to guess why nature would get “desperate”. Meh. There are far more fucked up things that occurring regularly that I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
Basically.
Get the XBox plus all the other stuff. EVO will happen again, for one thing, while the other stuff presumably won’t. Wanting to go Las Vegas just to walk around when you have no money and you don’t play games is pretty fucking stupid to be blunt about it.
Yeah, Eureka 7 is surprisingly great. I remember not liking it that much at the beginning given Renton’s character, but he becomes a lot more likable and changes realistically as the series progresses.
Seriously. Who the hell thought that image was a good thing?
Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s what EoE was intended at given what little I’ve seen of it. I also liked the original ending considering the circumstances surrounding it and everything.
And, yes, I can’t believe you slept on Gurren Lagann for so long either. I thought I was behind on it when I heard about it three years ago. For shame.
Anno has said that EoE was the original intended ending, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a Fuck You to people who disliked the original ending either.
Also, there’s plenty of good anime post-whenever-your-arbirtrary-cutoff-is. As I’ve said a million times now, there’s as much good anime today as there’s ever been. There’s just about 4 times as much anime total now.
(It’s weird how despite having been generally disinterested in Tekken for the longest time, all of its latest )
Yawn. I should probably start getting some work done since I was pretty much asleep after noon through all of yesterday. Sigh. Why does Sunday always suck so much?
Given that this is at least partially directed towards me, I just want to say that I was aware that it was intended to be the original ending. Although, as you said, being the original ending and being a fuck-you aren’t mutually exclusive.
Otherwise, I concur with everything you’ve said regarding this.
AAAAAAAH! head explodes
great, so now i have to watch those episodes.
there is something strange going on with mecha and me. mecha is something i absolutely don’t like and have never liked, yet still driven to watch.
i watched the first season of Code Geass and hated it. i didn’t know there was a second season and i wish i didn’t because i know because i’ll eventually have to watch it. i hate the part of Power Rangers when the monsters get big. hated Voltron; never got into Transformers; don’t really like Iron Man. i bought Appleseed based off of the trailer where the chick is fighting the monsters i was like “this shit is gonna be tight, yo!” all of a sudden i’m watching gay-ass rollerblading turkey shaped mechs all over the place. i was so pissed off
what anime are you guys watching right now?
i can’t believe i sat through all of it. you’d think that one would be a shoe-in for mecha i can appreciate since i have a robot with a drill (well, router, close enough) in my garage. nope.
actually i only sat through it because of the gay dude.

pretty much the best part of Eva and the only thing i find myself rewatching occasionally
I’m always way behind on anime, so I’m watching Sengoku Basara. Only about 4 episodes in, but I’m liking it.
2 minutes in some Guilty Gear reject steps off his horse and starts flying around while he’s on fire. why would you even have a horse if you can fly?
7 minutes in:
Yukimora!
Your Lordship!
Yukimora!
Your Lordship!
Yukimora!
Your Lordship!
Yukimora!
Your Lordship!
the fuck outta here.
But the “Yukimura! Your Lordship! Yukimura! Your Lordship!” is the best part!
i just finished the first episode. you just exposed yourself, Cryoh. i’m giving it 3 more episodes. if it doesn’t get any better i’m gonna have to label you a pedophile. i don’t want to do it, but it’s probably for the best.
also WTF did i just watch, Weeks? why are people shooting at Asuka and why is she killing them?
Bitch, it’s not like I’m watching Lucky Star or something!
(Lol at you making Sengoku Basara sound like Inuyasha. Although, yes, from little I’ve seen of the former, it does look extremely fucking silly. You’re right, Cryoh. You’re not watching Lucky Star–Lucky Star is better than that.)
Sigh. An hour and a half later and I’ve done nothing so far but watch Youtube and give myself a headache, forcing me to take maybe expired aspirin.
I can’t say that I’m surprised. I think I’m just going to eat some yogurt that SRK won’t even let me post the name of and further wallow in despair like some chick from a Lifetime movie for a bit while I let Youtube further distract me.
That’s…weird.
Despite how much I talk about it, I actually don’t watch anime unless it comes on TV, so all I’ve been watching is Kekkaishi and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood since those come on Adult Swim. I also have all of Gurren Lagann on my DVR since the first time it came on Sci-Fi/Syfy, I missed half of the first half, so I didn’t know what the fuck was going pre-timeskip.
Lol at you being a Leeron fan.
That’s like the only thing ever links to from EoE, I swear.
Anyway, how’s HK, Weeks? Why are you there again? I’ve forgotten.
Finished season 4 of Dexter. Jesus. Fucking depressing.

Thanks to Hulu I actually finish Inuyasha…why I even bother to watch it I don’t know, maybe I was just wanting to see how it will end…
Gurren Lagann was the last new anime I watched and since then I haven’t seen anything new but rather i backtracked and caught up on Naruto and Bleach.
also no matter how many people tell me One Piece is better, I cannot get over the fact that the art style sucks. I HATE how they are drawn. I’ll never get over this and thus will never get into OP. Looks to me matter.
I’m surprised anyone had the patience to see Inuyasha right thru to the end. The story was just wandering around whatever the original point was forever… like the writer actually forgot what the main goal was for those characters. It’s strange that CN even still airs it, even in a dead time slot like 2 or 4 am. I gave up on it years ago.
“Lexi” (also goes by “Demi Scott” or “Mercedes” in some earlier vids) continues to be my favorite internet babe at the moment. The latest video I just found is astounding… unbelievable on the hotness scale; my new #1. It’s from the “Wank It Now” site. Even the small bit of “acting” she employs with talking to the camera/audience and playing up whatever the scene is… it is superb. (it is enhanced further by her british accent, so basically anything she says is hot. e.g.–“Come on then…you know you want to whip your cock out and have a good wank.”*) I have already collected around 8 gigs or so of her videos. The internet is truly one of mankind’s greatest achievements.
I think so…Not sure who the host is these days though.
Aww, but Code Geass was classic. It started out with the potential to be amazing…and ended up amazing in a completely different way. Besides, what other mech series lets you see gangly schoolgirls hump tables?
It’s funny you ask this, because I am watching a shitton of anime right now. I do this most seasons, though. I watch some shows because they seem genuinely interesting. I watch some shows because they sound hilariously stupid. And I watch some shows because other people recommend them or talk about something in them that draws my interest. Every time, some of the interesting sounding ones end up trash, and some of the ones I start to watch because they sound stupid end up being quite good. I usually drop the disappointments and keep up with the interesting ones.
Case in point: I’m watching Tiger&Bunny. The description of the show I saw was: A new anime series by Sunrise that will be aired on TV and Ustream. The show intends to make use of the new advertisement method called “Character Placement.” It allows the sponsors of the anime to put their logos on the characters. Wow, a description that tells me absolutely nothing about the show? Sounds like a potential entertaining trainwreck. Then I start watching it and it turns out to be actually really good. Go figure. It’s kind of a japanese hero show story meets Lethal Weapon buddy cop scenario, and it has the sort of anime-but-not-really-foreign feel that shows like Cowboy Bebop and Macross Plus had.
Another show i just finished is called Moshidora, which is based on japanese high school baseball. A girl takes over for her friend as manager of the team, so she buys a book on management…only it’s a book on business management. She then says “fuck it” and applies the ideas in the book to the baseball team, and cool stuff happens.
Nichijou is entertaining sheer chaos, kind of in the vein of Azumanga Daioh. Hanasoku Iroha is a surprisingly charming coming-of-age type story. The X-Men anime is pretty decent, if unspectacular so far. Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko is a weird show about…man, I feel like I’ll spoil it if I say anything about it. Shows of interest that I intend to watch but haven’t gotten around to are Ao no Exorcist (Blue Exorcist, also on Hulu), Deadman Wonderland, Sket Dance, and Toriko (which sounds like Hokuto no Chef, and thereby must be watched). I planned to watch Steins;Gate because I watched the previous series and enjoyed it, but I haven’t started it yet. I also intended to watch Lotte no Omocha, since it’s about a 10 year old succubus and I can’t imagine that not being a trainwreck. But I can’t bring myself to actually pull the trigger. Sometime soon I’ll actually start off those other series and figure out what I’ll keep up with and what I’ll dump.
If you want to get into recommendations from non-current seasons…that could take a while. I’d rather have an idea of what you might be looking for.
fixed
Daigo won’t stop staring at me…truly creepy
and I haven’t watched anime in years
