that’s the thing. i have no idea. it’s not like there’s a resource that tells broke ass people like me how much money they need to go on trips for dudes that don’t understand that not everybody makes enough money to do shit like randomly go on trips. i’m guessing i need at least 1000 dollars. i told my friend that and he started laughing like 1000 was way too much and i was getting stressed out over nothing. he had no idea that the best man pays for the groom to do stuff as well as the bachelor party. when i told him he got quiet.
anyway the dude came over and i told him my rate. he freaked out. he was breathing heavy and his eyes looked like they were going to fall out of their sockets. he was all like “mang…mang…mang…mang…(he is black)…mang…” that shit hurt my soul. all i could think about was me taking food out of his newborn’s mouth. he was like “i still want the computer, but imma hold off on some of those parts.” we took off the 2 24" monitors and the mechanical keyboard/mouse combo. i was like “you don’t have to pay me all now,” so we agreed on half now, half when it’s done. i texted my friend while the dude was going to the atm machine and he was like “shit, he’s getting a deal (for what he wants, he definitely is.). you gotta be firm, man that dude has money. he and his wife both work, on top of the business the computer is going to be used for. he just bought a 7D, stop feeling bad.” i’m gonna stop feeling bad now.
i didn’t charge him 1000 for the computer if that’s what you’re thinking. i guess i’ll try to get some family members to help me out with the trip. :bluu:

This combined with the current discussion being something as subjective as music tastes–aside from few truly vapid things that have already been dealt with–allows me to be laconic for once; this computer being abysmally slow right now kind of helps. I’ve been listening to (new) live musicians less and less anyway and I’ve never really followed bands; hell, I’m still listening to songs from Streets of Rage 2–I feel bad for completely forgetting about [media=youtube]RdPPU-09sF0&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL[/media] among other things.

I listen to (death) metal mostly, so yeah…lyrics are a fun addition, but I never really cared. The beat and the message is what matters. I still remember my mom freaking the fuck out (of all things) over Slipknot. I listened to Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and MANY others, yet she freaks about Slipknot. Whatever. She pulled out the lyrics, and I got to hear my mom do spoken word Slipknot songs, then cry and question if thats how I felt.

Lyrics in songs are actually rather important, I’d say. Not that they’re the end all, be all of songs, sure, but I feel like not focusing on lyrics is how so many modern pop-songs get away with having completely inane lyrics or having lyrics that completely debased. Related to the latter, I also think that lyrics are important because of the impressions that they can leave, whether its for good or ill. We all know how impressionable people can be when it comes to the more negative, materialistic ones and I’m sure it’s not just my prudishness that’s turned me off of a lot of rap lyrics being based nothing but sex and rampant homophobia.
Besides, if lyrics aren’t important, then doesn’t that mean that you think pretty much all singers talentless hacks since they’re fucking up the song with their meaningless vocals? Or are we taking into account the quality of the voice as well even though lyrics supposedly don’t matter?
