Personal point. You opening argument is weak because it’s full of emotional history. A strong argument is based on empirical evidence, not feelings. The fault it’s not in the teachings of Issa nor in the heart of his students. The fault is in charlatans who prey on the weak and continue to spread fear and ignorance to hold on to power.

As far as Buddhist monks go. The core foundation of Buddhism is suffering. So is the core of The Christ beliefs. Now as far a Buddhism and the treatment of suffering… once again. There is more than one path to Buddhism and to The Christ’s beliefs. It’s not as black and white as your statement indicated.
The Buddha himself said that all he had taught was suffering, the root of it suffering, suffering can be over come and how to overcome suffering. Jesus taught something similar but in a much wordier way. But the message was similar.
Good point Silver. Very nice addition to the conversation. But yes, I would say that the amount of focus on suffering it’s about even on both Buddhism and Christianity but obviously with a different approach.
Which stand to the theory that Issa “Jesus” studied in India. It is traditional to take “special” children to be taught in the ways of the Buddha. A student performs similarly to their teacher but on their own special way.
The was also an emphasis on love and compassion for all things. Buddha and Issa were both just men that lived to extraordinary standards. A monk is nothing more than a man. He strives to be less than a man, he should be emptiness.
The Buddha himself wrote nothing down and was spoke against having his image engraved or his teaching written down. And here we stand, disobedient to his will.

Yeah, I’m not diggin’ the tranny-face. i do agree with this though. hockey is soccer…if you decided to take everything shitty about soccer out (ie flopping, giant field, slow pace) and add awesome things instead (ie ice skates, sticks, checking…).
