I’m honestly still surprised that so few people have died. Surprised and, given that I agree concerning what I heard they do to those bulls, disappointed. I guess I shouldn’t be that surprised, though, given it’s just another ready example of the universe having no sense of “justice” and such.
Even provided that I’m getting my events mixed or misheard, it’s still seems like a completely stupid and pointless waste of time. I don’t really mind NASA shuttles being axed. Kennedy had a vision and set a grandiose goal, and we achieved it. That was cool. Now all they do are these boring shuttle missions. How about a trip to Mars? If NASA actually bothered doing something cool that people could get behind, then everyone would be all for it. I listen to old timers talking about the space age and how astronauts were revered. Today, all people revere are stupid whores like Paris Hilton and Justin Beiber. I still have faith in humanity that all the idiots who are into today’s shitty pop culture could unite behind an epic space mission (shuttle missions are NOT epic), like they did in the past.
I think NASA should instead partner up with other aerospace companies and help subsidize their endeavors. Heroes like John Carmack, the guy who created DOOM, also runs Armadillo Aerospace. Why not support him? Hell, why not do something amazing like build a space elevator?
Oh and I really wish the Republicans and Democrats would get behind a simple flat tax. Get rid of all those deductions! Bam, we eliminate the need for the IRS and save a shitload of money hiring those useless bean counters. Because its a flat tax, there are no fancy loopholes or ways for rich people to get out of it (LOL at Obama letting GE get away with paying no taxes. Good job bro). The only downside is that it punishes poor people more, but the extra revenue from the flat tax and eliminating all those deductions can be used to help job growth and fund responsible social programs (something like welfare requiring mandatory drug tests so my taxpayer money isn’t wasted on worthless losers and used on people actually trying to improve themselves)

There are LOTS of obstacles to overcome when building the space elevator. You need a country with political stability, as well as very low chances of natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc). It will get built, I do think so. Keep in mind that the first country to build it will pretty much dominate space travel though, due to the cost savings.
I dunno about a flat tax, but yeah, one of the biggest things I wish North America would do, is ban tax loopholes. This, and the whole stupidity of psychotic managers who come into a job, and in order to impress their bosses in as short a time as possible, cut the fuck out of everything.
