This is awesome. I don’t know how many of you listen to Howard Stern (I know Million does) but they recently started a contest where you make a song out of Fred’s drops he puts through the show. They put out 121 of these clips out there so people can compete.
But 9 out of 10 of them that aren’t ringed, are there man fishing.
The manga section girls (yes, the ones over 18/your state’s statute of consent) are easy, really - and usually more interesting than most. Talk to them about what all you know that is geek. It doesn’t even matter if it’s manga or anime. Just so long as it falls somewhere in the vicinity of geek, and you’re gold.
Any chick in the cafe area with a laptop… that’s even easier. Especially the ones with Macs. Just pop open with an inquiry about their laptop, do they like it, why a Mac, what they use it for. They will be chomping at the bit to inform you about the glories of Mac, anyway. Just let them speak, and then it’s a natural transition from there into them talking about themselves. Numbers flow afterward.
Or just sit down at your own table, near some, start reading or whatever for a while, and look for an opportunity to say something, about anything, really.
I met one hot (yes, had a decent bust) Asian chick one time who was reading, I think, some stupid ass woman’s magazine. But she was also wearing a Last Unicorn tee-shirt. I happened to know what it was, the story, the characters, all that (saw it waaaaaaay long ago, as a, like, 7 year old… and seven year old with an encyclopedic memory). It went really well. When we exchanged numbers, she dialed mine up right then and there, to confirm, lol. Pretty cool.
Another time, I’d just come from Best Buy, and sat down at the table next to one, and somehow we got on the topic of video games. I’d just purchased 3 PS3 games at the buy 2 get 1 free. She happened to be a Sony fangirl, of all things… number downloaded.
The magazine section is also a gold mine, but you ought to approach it far more selectively. If you see a hottie browsing a section that you yourself share interest in, once again, chime in with something knowledgeable, or inquire after their tastes. That usually works well too.
I’ve netted dates just from sitting down in the comfy chair section and sketching - real talk.
It ain’t difficult, fish.
You just have to get a lil’ feel for it, but after you do, you’ll be pulling numbers like it’s a compulsive habit.
(Which it became, for me.)
Also - let any rejections flow off you like water off a duck.
You won’t win 'em all.
But the odds are really fucking good. (yes double entendre)
I personally would not approach while they’re reading. Only because I absolutely abhor it when someone interrupts me when I am engaged in reading, typing, or writing–hot girl or not. Don’t want to be a hypocrite and do the same to someone else.
Best to approach women browsing the shelves. Excuse yourself while reaching for a book in front of them, make a remark about just starting up reading as a hobby. Crack a joke about your peers and acquaintances making you feel dumb when they discuss things and it sounds like a foreign language to you. Ask if she has recommendations. Use this opportunity for small talk and anecdotes. Go from there.
I feel SWBeta being dumb. I was getting hit on by a hot hick with a really nice ass my first semester of community college while playing Marvel. I was dumb back then though.
too tired to study tonight, gonna watch a movie and pass out early instead. Got the following three movies in my download queue, which one should I watch?
Akira
Blade Runner
Contact
All the Akira talk in the previous thread made me want to see it again. Blade Runner came up in conversation with my friends. I only saw it once, it was a while ago, and I expected a completely different kind of movie and therefore wasn’t in the right frame of mind to watch it. Contact I’ve never seen.
