Problem with charter schools is that they still have to do state testing so they cant really alter the curriculum as much as they’d need to make a difference.
I went to private school and all lf my teachers at the elementary level were hard asses. They need to stop with some of the softness from third grade on up. I would coffee smiley but i aint had coffee today.

My kids go to a charter school. I’m in the South where education is pretty bad in general. That said, this school is great. They learn Mandarin as a second language and still teach the basics of Spanish. No recess, nap time or any other pointless activities. It really shows…my daughter isn’t even in first grade yet but she reads better than most of the kids in her after school daycare (which most are in public school) and they’re are a few yrs older than her. Don’t get me started on math. They’re already doing intro multiplication…in kindergarten.
You also have to be proactive as a parent in your kids education. You gotta make it interesting for them and let them know how important it is. If you’re not giving them good homework/learning habits then…your kid isn’t going to be interested.
So yea IMO charter>>>>>>public. Coming from someone who went to both public and private schools it’s pretty night & day. I feel you’re giving your kid a better opportunity to succeed by taking them out of shitty public schools. Especially if you’re in the city. I know most public schools are pretty good in suburban areas but outside of that? Yea…just look up GA test scores one day.
I actually have kids that we have to read their charges or court dates out to them BC they can’t read. 17 yr old kids…and they can’t read. Yet they’re HS graduates smh. It’s crazy

Charter schools in the Northeast are balls. I can see why they would perform better in the South since the southern states are full of dumbasses it makes sense the teachers would also be dumbasses sharing their dumbass wisdom to dumbass kids who become dumbass adults.
Still, they are a blight on the nation. Sucking away funding from public schools that need that cash is bullshit. Charter schools are run more as for-profit institutions than non-profit.
And nap time is important. Study after study shows the benefits of napping. Why would you rob your child of that, Epidemic?
As Pertho said, charter schools can kicks out and most of them do so after they’ve already been disbursed funds. And the students they kick out are the ones that are fucking up academically, so their numbers stay high.
And yeah, a decently run charter school is probably better than a shitty, inner-city public school but funding charter schools takes away from funding public schools and since by in large they’re not massively, or even particularly better, that money would be better spent making the public schools stronger, thus alleviating the need for charter schools.

Yea I think you’re out of touch on what PE/gym is. You say social intelligence… Which is something they learn organically in a school setting anyway.
I agree that “play time” is important…I just don’t think it’s something school needs to set a alloted time for everyday. That’s something that can be done outside if school hrs.
They don’t. Not where I live anyway. Fools have “play dates”, forced gatherings by parents who spend their time drinking together or fucking someone else’s spouse while kids who probably hate each other try to get along and ultimately don’t.
In fact, now that I think about it no one really lets kids go out and find adventure anywhere in America anymore. Not until they’re teenagers, anyway. That makes socializing during recess even more important.
Parents out there worried their kids gonna get diddled yet won’t admit their child is ugly as fuck and no one would touch it.
