Decades of following New York state politics has made me well aware at how shitty the governor is. Shit, I didn’t need more than seeing him create a task force to weed out corruption in the state government only to shut that shit down when it led them to his office. Isn’t he still in court over that?
GOP also holds the state majority because the rest of New York save for maybe Buffalo is insufferable as fuck. All they do is whine about “the big city” as if New York City isn’t responsible for 60% of the state’s budget. Ain’t no one traveling to visit Springfield, NY. When’s the last time you saw a bus full of tourists going to see Cold Spring, NY? All these fucking assholes just have a disproportionate amount of power.
New York is just shy of 20 million residents. New York City accounts for like 45% of that. Think about that. Nine MILLION people live in one city, in a state of only 20 million residents. Yet the rest of New York state gets to dictate what New York City does, if it’s funded, and how much it pays the state in taxes.
NYC really should secede from the rest of the state. Let that shit flounder.

It’s hilariously sad the efforts that some states are putting into force-feeding the public charter schools and vouchers rather than just actually putting money into properly financing public schools.
And before someone posts some garbage about charter schools being fantastic, that “great” documentary Waiting for Superman (which was really just pro-charter school propoganda) could only claim 16% of charter schools were outperforming public schools. Considering that charter schools get to cherry-pick students, that’s an abysmal rate for a so-called cure to the problems of public education.
