In a poverty fps mood after getting Duke Nukem 3d for free on gog. So classic.
Replaying the Jedi Knight series and just beat Jedi Knight. I forgot how inaccurate they made the stormtrooper rifle.
Dark Forces holds up as a solid 2.5d shooter with good level design and some badass moments like Kyle Katarn punching a dragon to death.
Jedi Knight is too fucking good; one of the best FPS games ever. Top tier level design and awesome, faster than Quake but hilariously broken deathmatch. I like that sabers aren’t op as just running into a room of 20 dudes armed with assault weapons and you have a sword means you fucking die. Still lightsabers in deathmatch boil down to just moving as fast as possible and trying to hit them with the secondary wide-swing for instakill. What’s funny is it the game turnd out great despite using some technically horrid inhouse engine.
Mysteries of the Sith level design is just as good as Jedi Knight and the game is even faster. Nice.
Outcast isn’t as good as I thought it was when it came out. I mean it’s amazing compared to modern popamole FPS games and Cally of Doody but it’s just not as good as JK. The levels are way more linear, sabers are super OP as guns got nerfed, the game is slower, and the improved lightsaber combat still boils down to going really fast and doing the move that kills in 1 or 2 hits. Still an excellent game though.
Academy is meh. You’re not Kyle Katarn and the level design is worse than Outcast but they actually attempted to balance deathmatch for once but they did that by nerfing sabers so now everything feels underpowered. This just makes the game boring but at least there are no instakill moves to spam for lightsabers.this time around. Darth Maul sabers are still broken (the kick with them is really fucking good). Still has a sizable community but is the least fun one to fuck around with.
Of maybe valaris has ascended above any badass I can think of and everyone else is competing with him.
I swear I’m not trying to brown nose or be sardonic, I’m merely loopy after a 12-hour work day, and this is the results.
