*^yeah, Shoreh has an oddly appealing voice. I would hit that with great ferocity…level 100 X-factor, folks.
Yep, Lust’s voice is superior, at least in the category of cartoons:
There’s also Kagome from Inuyasha…and Faye Valentine, and Hynden Walch as Starfire from Teen Titans. I actually do like “cartoonish”, occasionally higher pitch voices on women (e.g.-- Melanie Moore from the old Gladbag commercials…now known as Melanie Paxson…another interesting example is the legendary Cree Summer, who is like the female equivalent of Steve Blum. Her voice has been EVERYWHERE, starting with the role of Penny from Inspector Gadget back in the day.). The problem with the japanese voice actresses is that they actually take the high pitch stuff too damn far sometimes…like it literally sounds like they are squeaking the lines for some of those characters.
*Good ones from Bleach, imo: Rangiku (Ms. Titty herself) and Rukia (*a nice “strong, but still feminine” type…there’s a bit of a militant, serious tone going on with Rukia’s voice, and I like that…it’s an interesting contrast to the “cutesy” look of the character.)
There’s also that alien from FLCL… Kari Wahlgren…yeah, that one was legendary voice hotness there. (*There’s some general hotness going on there too…not just the voice. I’ve seen her in various clips out there on the net. Hell yeah I’d hit that immediately.)
Outside of the cartoon category there’s certain accents and dialects. For me, the british accent ranks as the clear #1, above everything else in the world. In terms of dialects right here in the good ol’ USA… the real winners are in the northern regions, imo. As long as it isn’t too exaggerated, give me one of those NY/NJ/MA(“Bah-ston”) girls any time, any place. Part of it could be because of the exotic factor, since I’ve grown up hearing nothing but these terribly unappealing southern dialects all the time. I occasionally like the one I’d call “Southern Belle” sound (*this is a more dignified and surprisingly nice sound, but sadly it’s dying out because only women from older generations sounded this way. Think of Ashley Judd’s slight Southern Belle sound, or someone like Dixie Carter or perhaps those other ladies from the show “Designing Women”…that’s what I’m talking about. That’s the good stuff.), but everything else sounds horrible to me.
