First off, I said I never got into marvel, again you making ignorant assumptions, thinking I never played the game, I have played it on the ps1 and later as a download on the ps3. Oh and I have played Marvel 1 at the local billards so you can scrap my prior experience of no experience. I said I never got into it as compared to other fighting games because at the time, Marvel 2 was least appealing to me. So I have played marvel. And Boo f’en hoo, on the increase of damage from Marvel 2, get used to it.
Stop hating on a game that just came out.

Let’s break it down, you are going to side with some of these pros that dislike the game. So you will blindly take someone’s advice right? Second, this game is what 10 years younger than the previous title? Basically, that’s like going to a car mechanic that has been working on carburetor cars and asking him if the new drive by wire system is good.

here we go again, how do people define the age old/timeless question of “skill vs easy mode” or “execution vs strategy”. shrug I dunno if those questions can be answered. Even if they were answerable, the answer would take pages of text to describe. You know what i’m saying? I will say it’s fun to discuss though.
Anyway, me personally, I’m liking the high combo damage in mvc3. I bougth the game yesterday and the damage seems “fair”. Just from playing the game for one day online-I didn’t go to any fight club events- my first day prediction is that chip damage characters will dominate mvc3 at high levels in the future. Yeah, you heard it here first folks lol
Look at ssf4, if you do a big combo against your oppoenent, often times you just need one more attack to dizzy them. An attack you’d have to do 100’s of times to kill your opponent without the dizzy system, becomes super important in that one situation. Land the small attack, and you get a big reward. Therefore, big combo’s compliment and make little damage attacks more important.
In most games, chip damage is meaningless;for example, one ryu combo in third strike, does the same damage as 100 blocked fireballs. I’m thinking after all the big mvc3 combo’s, miniscule chip damage will be the most important factor of the game. We’ll see though. BTW, i’m thinking my team, for those reasons, is going to be arthur, trish, and sentinel:cool:
This. Of course it will be obvious who are better players than others, but the margin of error that exists for the simplest things is so low that I foresee the skill gap between skilled players will be blurred because the easy to abuse high damage tap-a-combo system… + X-Factor.
So it’s not that the game is unplayable, what’s wrong with the game right now is that it feels repetitive and unrewarding, even when you’re winning. Why try to learn anything when you have borderline 100% combos from doing jack?Is there a point to doing fancy smanshy 107% combos that would lead to the same result?
That being said, X-23 is fun to play, I was raping people today with her. Her Level 3 = :devil:
All I know is I finally have a ADD riddles fighter thats easiest for my FPS friends to play. They always want to play SF or something but never wanna put in the time to actually do well of the session ends in like 20 minutes of me or my bro winning and thats it. With this game ANYONE can do a decent, damaging launch combo. A Seizure patient could do damage in this game. There does look to be a number of things in the game tho for pros to take advantage of to keep weekend warriors from stealing wins tho. I guess we’ll see.
This game is going to be so fucking defensive/zone-oriented in the future. With advanced guard, using blockstrings against someone who knows how to use advanced guard using a keepaway character is a bitch. It was my Deadpool VS this Akuma, and whenever he finally managed to get close enough and started a string I’d just advanced guard him away —> shoot my guns. I could literally feel this guy struggling his ass off to get in, whenever he did, ADVANCED GUARD! Shitty mechanic, imo. With the myriad of projectiles, supers and assists it’s a fucking miracle when you can actually get in on somebody, then when you do, if they’re blocking, ADVANCED GUARD! your ass away back to playing run-away.
I’ve only met like 2 people who can actually use it like that, though. I like to use it to decrease chip damage, shit looks cool and has that same sound effect from CVS2. I’m still having fun, though. No way I’d be able to get in on a decent player with the characters I use once people start realizing what’s up. Meter is a must in a lot of cases in this game, it saves lives. I’ve had so many matches that’ve ended because of chip damage supers. You also need it to get in, but, like people are realizing, it’s all about the zoning characters with a shitload of projectiles.

I gotta find a good third character now…I like Deadpool, but he still seems somewhat lacking for me. Probably cuz I ain’t using him right, and cuz I haven’t really tried many of the other new characters

Exactly, Dave. It’s too good, hilariously easy to use effectively, and it doesn’t take any meter(or does it? I haven’t been checking, too busy using it as a gimped parry to reduce chip.)

The best part about that infinite is that you can possibly build meter to use her Invisible LV.3 UNBLOCKABLE Grab on the incoming character and OTG afterwards into the same Infinite
