It’s still odd to see people complain so damn much about how easy Amalur is like it’s the end of the world (*did they forget about Fable 2, where your character literally cannot die?)…it’s strange for various reasons, and another that just came to mind is the very point games like this exist—it’s a power fantasy. Isn’t the whole POINT of a power fantasy (*which just about all RPGs seem to be) the evolution of your character? You start out as some average fighter/mage/whatever with potential for greatness…and as you level up, you eventually become one of the most powerful beings in that world… OF COURSE it’s going to be easy as the the character gets further into the game. It would be silly and outright stupid if low-level enemies I fought in the earliest areas of a game could still give my character a challenge later one when he’s evolved to supposed demigod status…it would be like Superman or Goku getting their asses beat by a random ordinary human chump that caught them off guard with a sucker punch…just picture Jimmy Olsen or J. Jonah Jameson seriously beating up Superman without any kind of kryptonite or magical assistance of some sort…that’s stoooooooopid. A major part of the appeal with these games, at least for me…is that your character ends up being godlike and ridiculously overpowered compared to everything else in the world.
I think I dislike most of them. I’m only in the mid-hundreds though.
I liked the coffee dispenser. I liked the train. And I liked the big block of something that was tossed by the SCP from another dimension. Some of the animals are ok, and some of the inventions.
The “unkillable monsters” are stupid.
So are all the kids.
Most of the tools are goofy, as are the spacial displacements rooms, but not necessarily bad.
I don’t like anything that only hates humanity to make it more dangerous/scary.
I think the point is that it ruins game balance. It can be fun being overpowered in like a new game+, or maybe due to deliberate player choices. Like say you found a magical sword that prevented any permanent injury or excessive pain but left you with basically your same physical ability-- would you rather fight

…a baby
…a dog
…a human (RockB)
…a velociraptor
…an army?
Aside from the novelty or amusement of smashing the anthill or the baby (which I’m guessing you’d do once or twice), most people would pick the dog, human, or raptor.

Kusoge are the games that aren’t that good (extremely broken or unbalanced or hard to take seriously competitively) but you play for fun/shits and giggles. It literally means shit game.
