There’s a rumor right now (from the bloomberg report) that Nexon made an offer to buy up EA. Which is surprising, because looking at some stats people put up, EA isn’t doing as hot as people thought they were. EA has had losses 5 years in a row, while Nexon is making bank with those f2p games. Though it’s an offer and they could turn it down. Interesting turn of events to say the least.
Also I thought it was interesting Nexon is a japanese company, instead of south korean. I always thought they were South Korean, it seems they started up there, and moved their HQ to Tokyo.
edit: also interesting to note, since nexon and Valve are business partners and are making the new counterstrike, and EA runs Origin, they could potentially snuff out Steam’s competitor.
After pricing a new machine, I think I may be asking too much for mine. Hmm. 900 seems much more reasonable. Then again, mine is overclocked to hell and back. Its also in a brand new case thats 150 bucks on its own.
I’m sticking with 1k. 1100 shipped.
I’m also seriously considering switching from Fractal Design to Silverstone cases. Not that I don’t like Fractal, but I don’t like their communication. Or lack thereof.

So he bought me 128mb for 130 bucks.
I think there was a RAM shortage at the time. Ridiculous price.
Even crazier that I got my immigrant dad to spend that much money on a stupid chip for a computer.

I actually upgrade according to architecture. When a significant change to hardware (PCI-X, Dual Channel Memory, etc.) comes through, I switch with it about mid-ways through the generation. That may change since hardware is becoming increasingly powerful opposed to software. It’s amazing what $400 worth of hardware can do these days. The only reason I want to upgrade right now is because of moderately high load times in some games, but Tera online is making me really second guess that. The game runs amazingly well on slim hardware.
I was going to build a new PC for SWTOR, but I ended up spending all my money on furniture and I don’t play that shitty game anymore. It’s a good game, but there’s no reason for that horrible performance in this day & age.
Oh, I’m also keen to detect and avoid bullshit hardware changes that only benefit the manufacturer. See PhysX for reference. A current example is UEFI, and DIsplayPort as a standard is just around the corner. I will be ignoring that “advancement” too. :tup:
