I’ll agree with whoever mentioned the Rondo website. The ‘Agile’ brand that they carry is actually a great bang for your buck.
But if I were buying my first guitar, knowing what I know now, I would be looking in the used market. I’ve seen amazing deals on old Charvels and Jacksons for under $300, and they actually used quality tuning keys (instead of the shitty die-cast type), decent trems or fixed bridges, and they still had surprisingly good frets for their age.
I got my first guitar in '92, and it was the most bullshit strat copy I could have picked out. But I guess it served its purpose. I learned quite a bit on it.
On a related note, since everyone here are gamers, check out the 8-bit tone I nailed for this YT video:
I bought what I thought was an 02 RG570 (bought off a friend’s friend) for $300 based on the descrption on the phone, but it was actually a 1992 RG470! BUT! It has all the same exact specs as an RG570, wizard neck, edge trem, MIJ, so I’m keeping it!
I set this baby up good. Neck shim, nut shim, re-conditioned the fretboard, re-conditioned the trem, clear coated the paint (it has no dings whatsoever!!!). Trem has some issues but I’m currently taking care of them. I put that cream colored pickup in there, its a Dimarzio Air Zone.
Anyone here really good at tabbing songs?
I’d like to know the tabs of a certain song, and I did find one page that had the tabs, but only for the main guitar, not the background guitar or whatever. Can anyone tab it for me?
Here’s the song:
No. When I first saw BC rich guitars when I was 13, I was enthralled. Then I played one when I was 15 and very dissapointed. It just seems… off… not sure how to describe it.
If you want to go custom shop route, then I highly recommend Carvin guitars. www.carvin.com
From $1000-$1500 you can have a custom built guitar from Carvin. :lovin:
When I can afford one I want to order one.
The other day I took my 97 RG to a guitar tech of 25 years to level my frets because there were some dead frets that appeared. He only charged $30 with new strings on the guitar… and just… wow. Feels sooo nice now when sliding… huge difference in note clarity and sustain has increased x10. It was well worth it and when I get the $$$ I’m going to get my 92 RG leveled too.
Nice. There’s nothing more valuable than having a competent tech you can take your guitars to whenever you need to. I’m all for setuping up one’s own guitars but there are some things better left to a professional.
And I actually had another NGD about a week ago. I had to trade two guitars for it, but it was worth considering I need to downsize before heading off to school.
So, stringing up a speedloader floyd guitar is way easy than I made it out to be. I can’t believe I had this guitar since March and haven’t actually played it until Saturday.
Wow T1AN… A J CUSTOM??? AWESOME!!! Such beautiful instruments!!! And red? My fave color! lol. Very nice score man! Hope you enjoy it.
I do all my own setup but don’t have the $$$ to pay for the stuff for leveling frets and have no experience in doing it. Plus the price was so good I couldn’t resist.
I’ve been searching for a good taylor acoustic to pick up that’s hopefully a bit short of 1k since i’m tight on money. any specific model anyone mind recommending?
I’ve had to let go of my Dinky DKMGT w/ Emg-Hz’s, reverse headstock, pirahna inlays, and a 20db boost, and i’m trying to sell my Fernandes Ravelle elite, to get some money for that acoustic and some left over for books for my classes.
If you like acoustic guitars a lot… you have to check out Yamaha’s hand crafted acoustics series. A local music shop had one and when I played it it was amazing. Very nice tone. Easily can compete with any Taylor that was in that store. The one I played was $600 and you cannot beat that price for that kind of guitar. I highly recommend that you try one out if you can or look into it.
Also, anything L series/Japan Yamahas should be great.
I myself have a Yamaha APX700. Great acoustic guitar.
Okay, I had to look up what that meant. I don’t think I can take myself seriously enough to make music like that. Like, physics doesn’t permit me to take myself that seriously. Nazis would have to kill my family to get me to tune that low.
