[SRK Guitarists and Bassists 2.0]

I remember now why I don’t talk music with “guitarists”.

Okay, then remember to take this thread off of your subsription list and stop posting in here then. You probably won’t do that though because you need the attention.
Go make another thread about being a former mormon or something and stop bugging us lol.

Negative.

I play a lot of instruments, guitar just happens to be the one I like best.

What would you say was the most recent large scale musical innovation that WASN’T a case of personal interpretation?

You don’t make any sense. You just said that interesting/creative rhythm are subjective, but then go on to say that most guitarists can’t come up with interesting/creative rhythms.

So which is it? Either you’re saying “interesting” is completely subjective and therefor your opinion is also “irrelevant,” or you’re saying that there’s some level of objectivity when discussing “interesting” guitar music.

I think maybe what he means is that he hears a lot of the same rhythms in many songs. At least I think that’s what he means.

Most pop music IS rhythmically dull IMO, but once in awhile something with a different or interesting rhythm comes along like Coldplay’s “Clocks” or Van Hunt’s “Hold My Hand.” (kicks in around 19 sec.) They’re still in 4 but the way the 8th notes are arranged, it makes them sound kinda like they aren’t. I don’t really listen to something popular though if I want to hear something rhythmically interesting.

At least I think that’s what he means.

You’re assuming that “interesting” means exactly the same thing in both statements, when there’s no reason to believe that it is.

It’s true that what constitutes “interesting” is ultimately subjective, but that’s not to say that we can’t–purely as a heuristic–postulate that derivative and repetitive music might constitute something that is uninteresting.

We could also say that it’s purely a matter of context. The same strumming pattern that’s boring and predictable in one musical situation might be completely shocking in another.

We interrupt this argument to bring you this brand new spankin guitar:

Schecter C1 FR Hellraiser

Now back to your regularly scheduled bickering :3

So, how is it?

P.S. Is the outfit in pic #3 part of your stage get-up, or was that just incidental?

Incidental, we were going to a party later that evening and my friend noticed that my outfit matched the guitar perfectly so I got a quick pic.

As to how it plays, the fretboard is incredibly fast and smooth and that is one of the most important things I want in my guitar outside of sound/tone. It sounds really clear on clean and overdrive is nice and chunky. I’m not looking forward to changing the strings though, I’ve never had experience with a floyd rose before.

Also, thank you warpticon for your suggestion on the other page. Have you used it?

What other meaning would “interesting” have?

Why would I have a reason to believe “interesting” in both statements means anything other than “engaging and/or exciting”?

If that’s the case, there was little point in contesting what Parry said, because he didn’t say anything to indicate he felt otherwise

Yes.

Edit: Regardless of what you reply with, I’m going to let it die here, because I’m digressing.

Sick! I was thinking about buying a non FR C1 Hellraiser, but until the $$$ comes in, It’s only an option.

You love it though, correct?

Awesome choice. Looks sweet too. Have fun with that Floyd Rose; turns a 5-10 minute string change into a 30-45 minute string change haha.

My main is a Schecter C1 Classic. Easily one of my favorite guitars ever and if I had the money I’d buy extras just for the fuck of it.

 Have fun there man! Those things are a bitch to change, but they’re so much fun to play with, so it all evens out.

Schecters are great guitars, at least the ones I’ve played have been. And they always look really slick too. Great find!

Yo tsukihimeblood, never owned an eletric guitar that didn’t have a floating bridge… after practice you will get it easy. Do it the way this guy does his:

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f21/zr-tremolo-setup-guide-picstory-tons-of-pics-zrtremolo-48897.html?highlight=s470

BUT… I would reccommend doing this: Replace the strings 1 by 1. Keep the locking nuts locked down except for the string you’re changing. So when you go to replace the e/b strings have the E/a and d/g locking pads locked down. Get it? This will help the bridge to stay stable. Also, stick to the same string guage for your first time.

Congrats tsukihimeblood on the Schecter. Don’t worry about changing the strings because of the floating bridge. After reading a couple guides and or watching some youtube videos it’ll become just as easy as changing strings on a hardtail guitar. Once you start messing with it the whole balancing out the string and spring tension thing makes a lot of sense.

So pretty much all of my GAS has been completely extinguished since I got my Parker NiteFly. The playability of it is unmatched by any other guitar I’ve laid my hands on and that includes PRSs, JEMs, Carvins, etc… Plus because I found the guitar for so cheap used and because the is currently getting decimated by the exchange rate, I was able to afford a set of Bare Knuckles which should hopefully arrive soon.

I know a lot of people find Parkers to be uglier than sin, but I actually like them…

I love Parkers. BUt they’ve always been so expensive that I can never afford them. Nothing sounds like a Parker though and playing one is like slicing thru butter with a warm knife.

The elegant trash bag I carry around my cords and pedals in got a hole it in somehow and I’m less 2 patch cords and an EQ pedal.

I baw’ed.

i probably posted to this thread ages ago, or one of it’s predecessors.

i have a gibson sg special, a gibson gothic explorer, and a fender p-bass. i have a marshall half-stack with this head http://news.harmony-central.com/Newp/WNAMM96/Marshall/JCM-Slash.html.

my regret right now is never investing in a bass rig, so i’m currently saving for a nice ampeg stack with tube head.

i’m completely self-taught on guitar and bass so i don’t think i’m very good, though i’ve been playing for over decade now. ironically my wife started learning acoustic guitar a few weeks ago and she already knows more chords than i do.

Have any of you ever played one of these? /
I’m getting my first e-guitar soon and I’m probably getting a strat or the RGX A2.
It weights only 2.5 kg, is relativley cheap (ca. $ 400) and looks damn well fantastic in my opinion.

So any experiences with it?
