Here’s a cool vid of Steve Vai breaking down one of the songs from his Real Illusions album.

I can’t say it’s my favorite tune off of that album, but it’s an interesting master class kind of video where you can learn the process behind creating guitar phrases the Steve Vai way. You also get a good closeup look at his nutty circular vibrato.
Interesting
I’m looking into buying a bass amp soon, I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations.
I’m not a bassist, but most of the bassist that I know are fans of SWR stuff. Check them out!

Mahogany back and sides, spruce top, and awesome decal lol.
I’m not a big fan of Takamine. Every Yamaha acoustic I’ve played at that price range has been amazing to me though.
Yamaha and Ibanez should give you some great acoustics for that price.
thanks guys
I’m about to go searching for guitar lessons and I was wondering how much would be a fair price for a lesson?
I enjoy Yamaha guitars a lot, in fact, I own a Yamaha acoustic guitar, but for the 500+ range Takamine is a much better value. Ibanez electric guitars are my favorite, but the acoustic ones lack tone.
I’d check this Yamaha out if I was you… I have the APX version of it.

Really? How is playing ska any more strenuous on the fretting hand than any other genre? Metal? Funk? Okay…
Need more information. What kind of amp? Combo? head+ cab? looking for something for stage performance? tube or solid state? etc.
Never mind all the kids who put their hands through hell trying to be the next Stevie Ray. His hand strength was ridonkulous.
it was strenuous for me and everybody i know that played it when we were noobs. that’s why i said “if you’re a newbie.” now, i was 13-15 playing ska and i apparently me and everybody that i played guitar with had wussy, Fancy Lad hands back then compared to all you guys that seem to be able to squeeze dents into ball bearings. i have no idea on how hand strength will change naturally through the years, so it might not affect Biolink as hard. you guys are beasts if your hands never got sore after playing for a few hours.
I guess that was a “dumb” question then.
Thanks for the tip Canto.
Sorry, I don’t know much about amps because I’ve never had one. I just play at home for enjoyment, so I don’t need anything for stage performance. As long as it has pretty good sound quality and has a headphone jack, I’m good. CD-in would be a plus too. Hope that helps.
Yep, it was. It depends. Around here its like $80 a month, you get one 30 minute lesson per week.
I don’t think that any kinda ska music will be more strenuous on your hand than say… a lot of metal songs. Particularly Iced Earth’s Path I Choose and Metallica’s Master Of Puppets played Hetfield style (all down strokes), and yeah, he plays it with just down strokes.
I used to have a half hour lesson every week for $15 or so, so yeah, it’s dependent on too many factors to just name an average figure.
tell us how it is. if rondo guitars are as good as you guys say i may be buying some
I’ll give a detailed review when it comes in.
