What kind of Guitar is that?

Tooks like an Epiphone Explorer.

It’s an Explorer.

.

That is interesting, actually :amazed:

Can you help me out with the strumming, though?

What is its tonal character like? Voxy? Marshally? Fendery?

it’s a sloppy acoustic strum pattern. the kind of stuff that’s pretty much freestyled.

here’s every strum for Guitar 1 (right channel) from the first 2 bars in the video (00:00 to 00:05)

4/4 beat

Bar1 :p: - :2p: - :p: - :2p: - :p:

Bar2 :p: - :3p::p: - :2p: - :p:

every dash is a pause; multiple fists are variations of :d: and :u: strokes; if you want me to do the whole song, i accept paypal and all major credit cards.

No idea why you used fists instead of up and down arrows.

When I get a Guitar what will be the hardest thing to learn?

Eventually I want to play in a band and make my own tunes.

Is it hard to make patterns and stuff without like totally hijacking them from some Artist that has done the same one before?

Also do you guys have Teachers? I’m thinking about getting personal lessons when I get a Guitar so that I can accelerate myself faster

I’m teaching myself: it’s hard, so I’d recommend looking into a teacher if you have the money.

As farm as coming up with patterns and stuff on your own: not really, but you’d be surprised how many bands do it and get away with it. The Strokes “Last Nite” riff from the chorus was pretty much stolen from Tom Petty.

so he could get the basic rhythm down without worrying on whether he picked up or down when he should have picked down or up!

also i like using the :p: icon.

:p:

How to play it with your testicles.

You kind of have to police yourself. My bandmates and I keep a close ear on our jams and aren’t afraid to call each other out if we play something that either sounds played out or has already been done by other bands.

I had a teacher for three years, and I think I learned more during that time than I have in the five years since then.

that’s some good stuff, but to tab that whole song would probably take me several days. any particular parts you want? (ie ##:##'s?, “what chords are these?” etc)

Slight nitpick, but it’s not common practice to actually tune up beyond e standard in rock music, considering that it’s power chord based, as opposed to bar chord based music, and even in that case, that’s generally what capos are for.

The tonic (root note) is F, but this is probably played in E flat standard tuning. You can hear the guitars and bass playing the low Eb in repetitions of the riff. Add 1 to everything and it’s fine.

Ahaha I see then. Just gotta be careful then

How many lessons did you have a year?

As for the type of music I want to play.

I want a sound kind of like Post-Punk Rock, Alternative Rock, Grunge. Maybe a little SKa

Eh Basically more or less like Sonic Youth with a hint of something like Sublime.

Are those genre’s difficult to play?

suggestions on acoustics. price 700-1000
Thanks

if you’re a newbie and want to play Ska, might wanna consider investing in one of these to use when you aren’t playing so your hand won’t cramp up. Ska riffs = constantly using your chord hand to squeeze and release the strings to mute them = your chord hand in hell unless you’re a beast or jerk off with that hand. :p:

I had about one lesson per week, obviously minus holidays, conflicting plans, and so on.

I don’t have a lot of experience with those bands (I’ve only really heard the “popular” songs), but I don’t imagine you’ll have too hard a time with them. In these genres, having the right “feel” is more important than virtuoso precision.

You did mention grunge. Kim Thayil’s got some nutty rhythms going on in some of their songs, and Jerry Cantrell’s leads can be challenging for a beginner, but on the whole, it’s not a tough genre.

I guess I’m just a beast, then.

…Well, yeah.
