For wah wahs, Dunlop is probably the brand to beat.

Since you’re a beginner, you’ll probably want a basic wah before you spring for something really nice. You should be able to find Dunlop’s Original Crybaby for less than $100.

How do they become any different or more advanced? It’ just a sound effect.

Also, do you think this would be a decent buy or not

What do you recommend for delay and reverb pedals, GM?

I’m also a beginner.

Differences in effects pedals can include quality of construction, number of features, the amount of tonal control, and other shit I’m not thinking of right now. Basically, the higher end you go, the more you can expect out of it.

My first guitar was a Squier, and it was pretty decent (I have since cannibalized it for parts). There are cheaper budget brands out there, though, like Kramer and Rondo.

EDIT:

For delay and reverb, what you want varies greatly depending on the sound you’re looking for. You’re probably not going to be able to get a slappy Stray Cats sound out of a pedal designed to do swampy Pink Floyd-type sounds.

Personally, I’d opt for a multi-effects unit, which would typically include a variety of both reverbs and delays. They can be a little pricey, but there’s a lot of value for your money when you look at how many individual pedals it would take to replicate all of the features. I’ve had good experience with Digitech, though Boss, Line 6, Korg, and many other companies also have good reputations.

If/when I become a better player, and progress to something a little higher end than the Squier, how much more can I expect to pay for left hand guitars?

You can just buy a right hand guitar and string it lefty.

I heard that the problem with that is, is that the Guitar becomes out of tune quicker.

Would that be a problem, or are tuning Guitars something you have to do on the regular?

There’s actually problems with that method if you ever play acoustic, as most guitars manufacturers will brace the treble and bass sides differently, so you run the risk of messing your top up.

Yo, check out Zoom’s stuff. A lot of dudes on Jemsite forums swear by them, and when I had a Zoom amp the effects such as reverb and delay were pretty decent even though the cab and amp models sucked. Plus its pretty cheap.

Lol, the end of the link says ZOMG1X

Oh BTW guys, that new guitar that I got had an issues with the EDGE trem with bad knife edges and bad trem studs. I got new trem studs and installed them but the tunning isseus persisted, so I had a 30 day return and sent it back.

But worry not! I just bought a new one and its custom painted! Its the same model, Ibanez RG570 but its from 1997. Trust me guys, the custom art on it is badass and I’ll post pics up when I get it (a week or so). The guy told me that the trem had no tuning stability issues but I’ll find out soon enough.

Thanks for all the help.

Can anyone tell me what the effect is at ~1:05?

Restringing is kind of a headache. Aside from having to get a new nut, it also changes the string tension around for stringing, puts any trem bar in a strange position (though some, like SRV, like it that way), and puts all the controls where your arm might normally rest. Tuning isn’t necessarily going to be less stable, though. It’s better these days, than it was years ago, though, since you’re not having to pay massive upcharges for lefty models. The pickings are just slimmer.

Some places specialize in lefties, though. Adirondack Guitar is one, and has a nice selection of beginner to near boutique level lefty instruments. Rondo Music is known around the web for carrying really inexpensive instruments of surprising quality, and almost every model they carry is available left handed.

Its 2 guitars. One of them is in a bridge pickup position and the one in the background seems to be in the middle pickup position.

I know it’s two guitars, but one just sounds a lot more “naked” and trebled.

Yeah, middle coils and split single coils in the 2nd and 4th position will give that kind of sound on a clean channel. Very low output.

Can anyone give me a hand with the strumming pattern for Filter’s "Take a Picture"
For some reason, I can’t get the strumming pattern for any song; I gotta have it laid out for me, as opposed to just hearing the song and knowing what the pattern is!

SRK: YOU HAVE MY AXE.

i have a good ear. i’ll tab shit out, if it pleases me.
no solos and no full epic 8-minute songs. give me a link to the audio and the ##:## time of the part you need to know. i’m rarely stumped.

Are those Multi-effect pedals any good?

Or do you get some cheap sound since it’s like bargain price almost?

If it’s a nice sounding Wah-Wah and it has some other nice built in stuff, then shouldn’t I just pick this up instead?

sounds like

the guitar was probably tuned one half-step up, but i figure you don’t want to re-tune your guitar so i tabbed it for standard tuning.

i hope you didn’t think i was tabbing that solo. even if i could, it would probably take the next two days. here’s the main rhythm guitar parts. i hope you can figure out the strumming because that’s hard to convey with tab.
