[SRK Guitarists and Bassists 2.0]

Yes! I’ve been using regular slinky for 3 years now… but I want to try out hybrid slinkies.

Obligated post.

New guitar day!!!

Go it off ebay. Sold my Korean S for $500 and got this Japanese RG for $440. Had to set it up which took around a day and a half, but now it won’t go out of tune. Its a year 2000 Ibanez RG 570. Only 3 very small dings on the back of the guitar. Overall I am very impressed by it and in love.

I also have a Peavey all tube amp coming, it actually should be here today or tomorrow. Its a Peavey Prowler.

That’s sweet!

Very nice!!!

YOU DONE ME PROUD, BOY!

I’m thinking about getting an ass SX strat since I no longer have a guitar, and they’re $90, which is $40 cheaper than they used to be for some reason. Can’t decide between rosewood and maple, though, plus the sunburst ash strat with the P90’s is pretty tempting. I’m even more undecided on which bass to get…the cheap P/J or the slightly more expensive P/J in a jazz body that’s black as night and comes with a cheap bag??

Maple. You can get rosewood on fucking anything.

That’s true, and it is the major consideration for maple, but 7 out of every 10 maple boards I’ve ever played had a feel I really didn’t like. If I was doing better I’d just get both.

My guitar has a maple neck and I LOVE it. It’s a strat, for the record. I love the way maple feels and sounds.

Plus, I think it looks better when clean.

I like the way it looks, but select few maple boarded guitars have felt good in my hands.

ON the bass side, it’s a debate between

this

this

or this

Option #2 is my favorite, but it’s the most expensive. Option #1 I planned on getting at some point whenever this got back in stock in a lefty. The traditional p/j is the cheapest of the bunch.

My gear for now and for a very long time lol.

Jap Ibanez RG, Peavey Prowler (7 tubes), and Ibanez TS 9 circa. 1994

I just got a (free) MIDI to USB cable. I’m running MIDI out from a POD 2.0 to my laptop with it. Are there any recording solutions with this setup or do I still have to use that crappy line-in instead?

I bought my first bass guitar last week, it’s This one. The only musical experience I have is with piano, which I have been playing for almost 2 years. I’m self taught and I learned to play from midis, so I don’t know how to read sheet music.

For the bass, I have been practicing the spiderwalk from this . I was wondering if that is a good exercise and if there is more to recommend. I naturally started strumming with my thumb, is that a bad habit? I’m seeing now that people use their index and middle finger to start off with, so I thought maybe this is a bad idea to be using my thumb alone.

Thumb isn’t really recommended as “correct” but look at sting.

I’d say start off trying to play two fingered, with the thumb as anchor first.

There are quite a bit of thumb players, however.

Cool, it’s not as awkward as I thought it may be. Thanks for the speedy reply man, appreciate it.

Would this be a good buy for a beginner like me?

My friend has a lefty Epiphone and a fucking nice ass righty 1979 Fender strat, and I felt more comfortable playing his Epiphone

A cab will color your sound depeding on the casing and depeding on the speakers they’re using. If youre just playing straight through your GT-8 you want the most cleanest of clean channels. A PA speaker will do you must better than a cab.

How much would a good wah wah pedal cost for a beginner like me?
