I mean the dark ages Evo had the sum of all players in all games less than peak SFV and SFIV numbers. I would hope they would scale back a bit before it dies. 2020 has a potential dark time unless ArcSys becomes the new FGC saviour and I don’t think their games will have the mass appeal necessary just because of their anime nature.

I’m calling bullshit. Most of the people frequenting the site may not actively compete anymore, but we still watch streams, buy the games, sticks, and all the other extra shit no snot nosed punk can afford.

Also, there are great fighters that take full advantage of modern trappings and DON’T suck…

They’re just not made by Capcom.

Thanks for the memories SRK. Haven’t posted here in years for obvious reasons but this site definitely changed many peoples lives.

Nope, Twitter/Twitch/Youtube are far better ways to have your voice heard by a wider audience. (Even today, I’m still mostly about discussing high level gameplay, sharing videos, etc.)
Not to mention Facebook for local group community building etc.

When the site moved from vbulletin off to what we have now it was kind of the beginning of the end, unfortunately.
Writing was on the wall.

Not to mention a lot of the players got older and got tired of dealing with the trolling here in the forums.
Of course SRK definitely changed my life. But social media killed the forum aspect of things at least for me.

All of that is a great way to talk to random cunts; SRK is great to talk to people in the community.

As for the trolls, a lot of that shit was the 09 crackdown where SRK was forced to be nice to new people. Had regular people been put through the normal ringer things would’ve been way different.
