Right, cause SF4 lets you attack out of blockstun, escape corner pressure without risk, and tag your partner in during a combo.
How would the game play anything like SF4 with those changes? I’m curious. Chains would still be there. Half damage off of air-to-air counter hit would still be there. Cross Assault would still be there. I’m not following you. Do you think having the game make more sense in its mechanics bring it closer to being a SF game?
Doesn’t matter which directions reversals go, whether they’re good or they suck. I was suggesting they could use some kind of significance. Do they gain more meter? Do they do more damage? Why do I care if I get a reversal? Why even call it that?
That’s not a bad idea. It would discouraged mashing and increase the risk of trying to do one. Of course they would have to be good first.
If a jab and a throw become active on the same frame and both are performed within their perspective range, one is going to beat the other. Is that not an example of priority?
Right now you all got a game where light confirms into chains are low risk and highly useful despite the scaling (free damage, bar, and tag with or without meter), there’s little incentive not to jump and look for that ambiguous crossup or air-to-air counter hit, and despite the community not wanting it to be anything like SF4, it still suffers from SF4’s problem of having big stages and slow walkspeeds, making timeouts more inevitable. People think the problem is not the game, but the characters. That’s why they’re so many requests for nerfs. Capcom listened and now Ryu is gonna be crap again. Nobody cares though cause he’s boring or whatever, but this isn’t gonna fix the other problems like cross-ups that don’t cross over and non-crossups that do. People want the game to evolve, but with the way the mechanics are now, it doesn’t seem likely it will go beyond chain confirms and scaled juggles, especially with nerfed DPs, reversals and throws.
it’s still irrelevant since that’s the only example (cause when 2 throws occur at the same time it’s random), and changing that “priority” would only weaken throw more. it doesnt apply to anything esle
Why does it matter if it doesn’t apply to anything else? That was the context in which I used the term when you said it did not exist. To say it’s irrelevant cause it’s just one example comes off as being condescending.
Also, I didn’t say anything about changing priority on throws. I said throws need to be better cause the risk to using them is very high.
Yes she had very strong hurtboxes, among the best in the game for her normals. That plus alot of active frames made her normals very deadly. But Kuma’s hurtboxes are even better, yet he was just massively buffed.
it’s not condescending. If i were to have said the sky is blue and you wanted to point out that “well… it’s not blue on mars” when you were not even talking about mars to begin with then it’s irrelevant. Same thing here.
that’s what i was responding to.
you brought up throws… (i.e. mars). it’s irrelevant to what you were talking about. reversals do not have priority. if that were the case i’d never be able to beat or trade with an invincible move with a normal move
btw SF4 having additional properties on a reversal is the exception not the rule. we dont need to go back to SF4 style mechanics. reversals are fine. the window is fine. the properties are fine. Only some of the moves themselves need to be tweaked. but if you want to argue that doing a reversal is pointless, good. too many people trying to mash out DP on wakeup like it’s going to save them. And if i know you’re mashing DP on wakeup a lot (cause i keep seeing “reversal” appear on the screen), i’m going to abuse the hell out of you for doing it because it tells me that not only are not smart enough to block when you should be but you’re stupid enough to actually press a button as well (that’s only condescending if it applies to you which i dunno if it does or not).
The vast majority of the game needs to be left alone. There’s a very small % of characters that actually need a nerf. There’s a small % of characters that need a big buff. There’s a large % of characters that need minor tweaks and buffs. Fixing pandora and recoverable life are really the only 2 gameplay system changes that need to be addresses.
-Auto_Launcher Gem and have auto launching off by default (assist gem).
-Infinity Gem: can cancel lesser punches with same or greater themed kicks (xmenvssf) ~ attack power will be cut in half! (assist gem) [Grounded attacks only]
-Special Cancel Gem: can cancel lesser normal attacks with greater special attacks. if last attack is a hard attack, you can only cancel it out with an ex special attack ~ super art meter gain cut in half! (assist gem)
I would also like to suggest to make the meters visible during Akuma’s super arts. For some reason they took out the meters whenever his Raging Demon and Misogi connects, and it’s annoying that I can’t see the health during the sequence.
Nobody likes auto launching. That gem would be for capcom to have it available but allow users to not have it if they don’t want it. It really slows down gameplay when it always comes out when you don’t want it to. I’d rather launch manually.
And the infinity gem, having just chaining with punches only or with kicks only is about damage control. Since one would be landing the 5 or 6 hits from the full chaining, having this ability with half damage would make the damage equal to that of the normal 3 hit chain. That would be the balance.
lp,lk,mp,mk,hp/hk’s damage = lp,mp,hp/lk,mk,hk’s damage. no harm done. Hey, it makes 3rd strike way more enjoyable with it enabled on there. This same logic would be applied with the special cancelling and its con.
Nina her saving grace were her pokes and damage output, with the patch she now gets some reliable anti-airs which can turn into big damage. The new AA’s will force the groundgame, the tradeoff is that her pokes will be somewhat nerfed inexchange to keep opponents from jumping in for free. She got some other stuff which helps her, overall as a character from the way things look she is going to be ALOT better.
Instead of looking at the nerfs, look at the overall package.
What do you experts think Jin is going to be like with his changes? Think he will be top tier as some believe? Or is he balanced in your opinion? He looks amazing on paper but I’d like to hear your opinions. Is he going to be the next tier whore darling?
Sorry, I need more than that. Why wouldn’t it work? What about it puts you off? For me, it would make things so much more interesting, footsies would be more intense and certain characters would move up tiers.
Top tiers like Julia, Heihachi, Chun-Li, Cody, Jin, Rufus, Hwoarang and Kazuya would all be broken. Footsies are already interesting enough when one cr. mk can blow you up for 300-500 damage. Also characters who lack reversals like Xiaoyu for example would die to those who have extremely long blockstrings or frame traps. Not everyone has dat Godlike SRK that can bail them out of jail thanks to the 6f reversal window in this game.
