Am I right to assume that their footsie game is what would make them ‘broken’? But what if the guard meter only went down when a single hit was blocked? Not Tekken strings or safe boost strings.
Still dumb unless every character would be given some sort of reversal. It makes zero sense at all to punish players for being smart and blocking stuff instead of resorting to mashing out reversals anytime they get touched. Is it really that difficult to open up someone in this game especially with CADC’s and throws being as strong as they are already? Taking Cammy for example, she has no overhead and she still has no problems mixing it up and throwing opponents constantly thanks to her amazing walk speed and stupid jab pressure. Her DP also gives you another reason not to press buttons anytime she gets near you.
How are people dealing with frame traps right now? Alpha counter, back dash, mash invincible move, or just block all day and let the time run out and still lose.
The only difference with guard break is that there will be less time outs, which is a good thing.
I’m going to have to politely disagree with your statement, Songi. I feel we have quite different opinions. But what does it matter? It’s not like Capcom are going to do something radical and put in a guard meter. It’s been a stimulating discussion, thank you for that.
Obviously, yes I looked at the buff first, in fact I didn’t even care about the nerfs lol. But its a bit unwise to just undermine the nerfs if I didn’t understand them.“Always be prepared” <— Boyscout motto.
Learned that from Alias.(Not so many ppl will know what I mean)
Not all back dashes are good. Not all reversals are good enough.(Some even not there)
I have to be with Songi on this. Some characters would just be completely unreliable. And can’t do anything about it. Some characters have only the
Option to block and you wanna take that away? C’mon son get outta heer wi dat bull
With or without guard break you still have the same options of getting out. You talk about characters that have bad dashes or reversals but isn’t the whole point of Alpha Counters to stop pressure?
That’s all you needed to say.
Rufus + Guard Crush = Worst Video Game Ever
I know people like to see HITS and COMBOS and BLOW UPS…but, we don’t need to nerf defense to the point of uselessness.
No guard break in SFxT please.
Wtf SFxT 2013v. has been delayed to January 29th…
it’s a good thing
So the already meter reliant characters would have to rely on meter to get out of every single engagement/good pressure which alot of players/characters can do especially with CADC being viable.(Don’t know if you’ve played a guy named The_Real_Seal but i have, Songi would know what I’m talking about when i say that his Vega can have you blocking for a couple of days at a time).Block meter would make this game soooo boring to watch AND play.
Block Meter=SFxT=First to get touched loses.
Guard meter is possibly the most obviously bad game design mechanic ever put in fighting games. It’s a sticking plaster for problems elsewhere.
I disagree, it worked for Soul Calibur because of how that game is paced and played. Turtle-ling was very strong in SC2, though they had guard break attacks…most were slow(could see coming) or required Soul Charge and even then It only granted frame advantage most of the time(there were exceptions).
I agree that Guard Gauge in SFxT is a bad idea though, the amount of blockstun that is possible in this game is too crazy to implement such a mechanic without reworking it from the ground up. I see the Pro’s in having something like it because it makes Alpha Counters that much more important but on the flip side, if it’s like CVS2 and your guaranteed a follow up…then it could be very bad and almost overpowering with certain characters or teams given the correct situation.
Again, I believe SFxT is fine without a guard gauge, now more moves that Guard Break! that is something to be considered.
100% agreed, means they’re seriously working on it.
We are not supposed to bring up character specific things, are we?
Actually that’s one of the best things to bring up IMO.
I might have already said it here before, but I seriously want the BP ranking system be abolished and have it replaced with a win/loss ratio-based ranking. Also, I’ve read in the news that the rerelease of Darkstalkers will have a tournament mode. Hopefully tournament modes will become a staple in all of their fighting games.
I kinda think guard breaking would kinda work in this game. It would keep people from being in down-back all year long, and with the alpha counter, it can be used to push off pressure and quickly change the flow of the match for a bit.
except there are characters that do not have a reversal and there are other characters that can keep you blocking for days.
but i’m one of the people that hated guard break in both A3 and CvS2.
