SRK Competitive Pokemon Battling Thread: Logoghoul and White Shadow Win! Bye Gen 6!

Guys…GUYS… Big breeding changes discovered! With Destiny Knot, up to FIVE IVs can be passed down from parent to child!

And now we’re pretty much set. That was the last bastion of the annoying parts of Breeding Competitive Pokes.

Now you won’t even need RNG.

Don’t the Friend Safari Pokemon come with an automatic two perfect IVs as well?

I think it’s three.

hehe something posted by smogon on here

just kidding though, that’s big news

should we just insta ban xerneas and yveltal? those stats are really high and have pretty good typings, i feel these are the only two that don’t really need to be tested that they’re a little over the top

but thank the fucking lord for the destiny knot thing, breeding became so much easier

I’ve said it before, but for as much shit as I give Smogon’s tiering and banning policies I have always acknowledged it as a tremendous source for information.

Being a great info bank doesn’t excuse elitism and fascist political structure, however.

i was actually going to bring something up, at lot of people who want to get into the scene don’t really have an idea on how to battle or make a good moveset

smogon’s pokemon analysis is pretty good and actually explains who to team them up with, it’s a start for those who have no idea what to do, just a start

So if two parents with three 31 stats both hold knots, will the baby have perfect IV’s?

Alright, I want to start getting some guides up on the OP.

Does anyone have a preference as to what I should write about first?

well, i guess since IVs, EVs, and natures have already been covered, start off with pokemon type terms, like what a sweeper is, what a suicide lead is, etc and give examples

I guess I could add in the move guide and write some info on Mega Evos.

My biggest gripe with them is how they write off so many new Pokemon with stuff like:

-It’s typing sucks
-It can’t beat X
-X does the same thing better
-It’s weak to X

it’s just speculation and we’ve all been proven wrong and they do have the pokes on pokemon showdown already, we didn’t think shell smash would make cloyster OU and not only did cloyster become OU, it was a top 15 staple

i think a lot of what you said applies to clawitzer and at first look from competitive stand point, it does fill a similar role that both cloyster and keldeo fill so yea, it will probably have a hard time finding a spot over those two for now but all that could change (it could be an awesome special shell smash sweeper)

That’s the Smogon(and to a lesser extent, Smashboards) way of thinking. Why would anyone use characters they actually like when they can pick the same shit everyone else uses because they’re strong?

Because they LIKE said characters, maybe?

Oh, no… can’t have people using Pikachu instead of Jolteon…NOOOO… God forbid we let anyone experiment and think for themselves… You use that Tyranitar/Garchomp/Gengar/Excadrill/Dragon-type/Scizor and you LIKE it, dammit!

Hey, to be fair…who doesn’t like Scizor or Excadrill?

Having used a Garchomp on my in-game team (re-EV trained afterwards), I can confirm Mega Chomp really isn’t all that great. It’s base speed drops from 102 to 92, and since Garchomp does not learn Dragon Dance, he needs all the speed he can get. Basically, it makes you a slower, slightly stronger (in sand) Kyurem-B (and even then, Kyurem-B can use a Choice Band anyway and has the same mixed attacking stats) And Kyurem-B isn’t exactly the best Dragon out there. Turning to a worse version of it just makes no sense, and you’re better off sticking to standard sets.

Also, Mega Houndoom and Mega Manectric are huge ass threats.

Me. I don’t like either of them. Scyther will always be better than Scizor to me.

I want to test out mega pinsir because the base 155 atk I believe seems nice.
