Yeah, Species clause pretty much extends to Pokemon that have the same index number and that’s it. Granted, I’ve never run into someone who used a Pokemon and its pre-evolution since it isn’t very productive thing to do when team-building anyway, but yeah, it’s technically allowed.
If you’re using Mega Houndoom, you’ll need a sun setter. Ninetales holding a Heat Rock will give you around 8 turns of sun to work with on a switch-in. Chlorophyll Venusaur is also a nice friend to sun teams and works well with Houndoom, resisting water, fairy, and fighting attacks. You’ll need something that resists or nulls earth moves, so pack a good flying Pokemon or a levatator. Volcarona is nice if you can get it in. You’ll need a spinner or a Defog user to keep Stealth Rocks off the field (I’m not knowledgable about what spinners work well on a sun team though. Donphan maybe?) Have a Stealth rock setter so you are ensured KO’s when you get Houndoom in. Heatran is a great Pokemon you may want to look into as well (when he’s released.)
In light of recent developments, I feel I will be able to make the Nov. 17th deadline.
Wonder Trading is a GODSEND! I’ve got so many perfectly bred Outstanding Pokemon probably valued 100+man hours worth of breeding. Thank you Japanese & German people with your tireless work ethic and generosity! I’ll forgive you for WWII now.
Rocks and now Sticky Web are the best because they screw so many things over for one turn of set-up. Spikes and Toxic Spikes do more damage, but require time to layer to be effective when you can just drop Rocks and not worry.
Once Pokebank opens, we’ll all have to deal with retarded shit like Latios and Landorus-T U-Turning and Draco Meteor derping their way through the super fun and unpredictable landscape we have now.
It matters not, however, for I still plan on trolling the shit out of those bastards and their ilk…
…and Shuckle gets Sticky Web! However, good luck trying to set it up before getting Taunted lol.
Destiny Knot makes breeding so much faster… I would have been breeding over the course of a couple of days to get the kind of results I’m getting in two hours now… including near flawless, 4-5 perfect IV mons with the proper Nature and Ability.
They even made it faster to obtain BP for items and TMs…
TY, based GameFreak for the best Pokemon game ever.
Shuckle’s actually not that bad since he’s pretty much guaranteed to get up Sticky Web and Stealth Rock thanks to Sturdy and the fact that only a few things can outright overpower him for the 3HKO. Taunt renders him useless, but you can just set up up your hazards later. And if it has Rest and Aromatherapy/Heal Bell support, it’ll have much more longevity.
I still prefer Smeargle for Sticky Web since it also gets the other hazards, buys a free turn with Spore, and can bypass Taunt with Magic Coat.
i mean the only lines this really affects is the duoblade/aegislash, porygon2/porygon-z, and chansey/blissey
porygon2 and porygon-z are definitely not similar, same could be said for duoblade and aegislash (ones an offensive tank while the other is a bulky set-up sweeper)
and using chansey and blissey gives you the most specially defensive team you could imagine
we’re want to create options for trainers to use, not limit them, and just because they have the same typing doesn’t make using them redundant as they each do different things from their evo counterparts
even something like scyther and scizor, althought scizor evolves from scyther, they have the same BST to go with different stat distribution and different typings
also, eviolite makes this a possibility, without it we would have never thought to use 2nd forms
here is my gastrodon set that i came up with myself, although i’m sure others have thought of it
storm drain @ leftovers
scald / infestation / rest / talk
it is fun and it can support talonflame by taking rock/water/electric hits. can beat non scarf rotom W pretty handily too if they don’t switch when i infestation.
The dex number ruling prevents different forms of the same Pokemon(multiple forms of the Genie Trio, Rotoms, etc.).
By banning different evolutions of the same Pokemon, you are no longer preventing the same Pokemon from showing up on teams, you are now stating that “Pokemon that are not the same cannot be on the same team” instead of “Pokemon that are the same cannot be on the same team”
Aegislash and Doublade are different Pokemon and not two different forms of the same Pokemon, therefore they are legal to place on the same team by the dex number clause.
Tornadus-I and Tornadus-T are two different forms of the same Pokemon, therefore they are illegal to place on the same team by the dex number clause.
The dex number is proof of the “Differentness” of pokemon, and it covers more situations with ambiguity like Gallade and Gardevoir. It’s a more useful and less arbitrary method of choosing what is allowed on teams.
Dem 2cents/ @Bious Can’t play cause I can’t afford a 3DS XL and Pokemon atm, car trouble homie
