The typing is absolutely horrible, and neither its trait nor Freeze Dry can redeem it. I think it will degenerate into a Choice Specs user due Ice Hyper Beam and other possible gimmicks. Most teams will probably have 4 to 5 out of 6 pokemon that can hit it for super effective damage.

Blaziken is incapable of sweeping because his best moves have poor coverage and even with a swords dance, he can’t kill lots of things…
Protect and Swords Dance are guaranteed in the set, leaving only 2 move slots that will have STAB.
He’s predictable and can be killed by lots of things, and flare blitz will eventually KO Blaziken…
He’s iite but not Ubers good for sure…
I was thinking of putting him in a sandstorm team.
Making a huge special wall to counter bulky waters and calm minders.
Since it has freezy-dry to hit waters for SE dmg w/STAB. And Frost breath to go through defenses.
Sure he will get wrecked by fighting/steel. But well worth it imo to kill annoying Togekiss’.
Not to mention it got some new checks like Azumarill and Talonflame that handle it very well. Speed Boost can’t save you from an Aqua Jet or a priority Brave Bird.
If Mega Blaze gets popular I can see people ditching Swords Dance for a coverage move.
Talonflame does not hit hard enough, that in itself is a problem.

Mega Blaze is basically Life Orb Blaze with better defenses and no damage recoil.
I’m sure that Mega Blaziken is stronger than regular Blaziken with Life Orb.

no, they’re both weaker, a life orb adamant 252 blaziken effectively has 483 atk, an adamant 252 mega blaziken has 460 atk
a life orb timid 252 alakazam has 497 SpA, a timid 252 mega alakazam has 449
it doesn’t matter if his poor moves have coverage when he 2HKOs everything after a swords dance, 252/252 bold jellicent gets eaten alive, azumarill can only switch in once, talonflame has to hope SR isn’t on the field (which will be much easier to acheive)

it’s simple, deals a fuckton of damage, and does whatever you need for your team:
you need a wall breaker? go swords dance and protect
need a scout? protect and baton pass
using a bp team? use swords dance and baton pass

When factoring the potential of Megas, it’s good to look on their defensive boosts in tandem with the offensive power. While some Megas have slightly less offensive power, many of them can now afford a switch-in or mitigating field hazard damage thanks to the defensive boosts they’ve received.
So while some situational 2hkos might disappear, you might survive long enough overall to cripple 2-3 of your opponents Pokémon before dying over the course of the match.
I’ve always favored the “long con” over dying in a blaze of glory.
Oh and Dragagle is confirmed to have Adaptability as it’s hidden ability. Meaning Draco Meteor hits like an actual meteor, and a STABed Sludge Bomb will nuke any Fairy checks bold enough to switch in. Quite nice.
Oh and Will~O~Wisp now has 85% accuracy. Physical Attackers have even more to worry about
Lol Blaziken is more predictable than Wobbuffet. Flare Blitz/High Jump Kick/Swords Dance/Protect. Damn thing always Protects or Swords Dances the first turn- use that opportunity to switch in your counter/set up for the KO.
Yeah it gets faster every turn, but its no different than a DD Gyara in that respect… Don’t sit there and let it set up in your face and expect to win.
Speaking of Gyarados… Bulky DD Gyara makes a nice check to Burning Chicken.
In B4 someone says, “Well I’ll just run Stone Edge!” Yeah, you do that. Which move are you giving up to do so? The guaranteed Speed Boost w/Protect, the power boost of Swords Dance, or one of your main STABs that does all the damage?
dragalge’s problem is that it’s slow as molasses and it doesn’t have great physical bulk
adaptability really helps it out, but i’m not sure it’ll be very good but water/dragon/poison has great neutral coverage (only empoleon and ferrothorn resist it)
I think Blaze is really strong and it’s great he has counters which makes him harder to use well. It also means more diversity which should be fun. That being said pre bank he seems to be mauling people with mega form.
I love his look too much to not use him, and I love the idea he might become more rarely seen which ups it’s value imo.
Blaziken is fucking people up because 85% of the players online are robots that just use what Smogon says is good. Tyranitar and his Steel-type friends are getting fucked up by a Fire/Fighting type? Fools are losing trying to set up Stealth Rocks and Sandstorms whilst the Chicken goes Mega, SDs, and starts kicking them in the face? No shit…
The Pkmn fourms are sounding real Marvel 3 player base right now… Chris G is fucking up your Wolverine/Sent/Akuma teams? He’s zoning out your melee range fighters? Word? Maybe you should counter pick him instead of using shit you KNOW loses to Morridoom?
It’s funny-Blaziken beats Aegislash(another poke everyone’s losing their shit over)… Azumarill beats Blaziken, but loses to Dry Skin Toxicroak who loses to Talonflame, who loses to Tyranitar, who loses to… yep, Blaziken… Hmmm…
