SRK Competitive Pokemon Battling Thread: Logoghoul and White Shadow Win! Bye Gen 6!

I see Knockoff being the main 4th moveslot move for any Pokemon that learns it now, it’s usefulness with the power buff is too good to ignore, especially with STAB and its newfound neutrality to Steel.

(Oh, right. I should PM phantasy my team before I forget. Again.)

Yeah, Knock Off is easily the most improved move in Gen VI. Nothing else really comes close as far as I’m aware.

Oh, okay. Your wall point makes sense even if I don’t entirely agree depending on the pokemon in question.

Also, provided you’re being serious here, I wasn’t disrespecting Crawdaunt there. Saying something isn’t OU (that isn’t Ubers) isn’t saying that it isn’t powerful or dangerous or useful. [/triple negative]

Additionally, I like Crawdaunt (and Corphish is admittedly adorable). Otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered to make that “Hey, Knock It Off” team where Choice Band Adaptability Crawdaunt is the centerpiece (that murders pretty much anything it touches with Knock Off).

Knock Off is the most important move in Singles 6v6 this side of Stealth Rock now… It’s so good, that move almost single-handedly pulled Bisharp out of UU purgatory, and has made Conkeldurr a team staple.

Being able to shit on just about every non-Mega competitive mon in existence by doing damage AND removing their precious Leftovers/Scrub Choice Item/Life Orb is too fucking good.

Crawdaunt will KILL you…

Well, Defog might’ve pushed Bisharp out of there anyway. He’s basically a Defog at your own risk mon now.

I love my Tentacruel. I’ve seen the light. \o/

Spoiler

Shiny Trevenant still looks like Carrot Top doe…

bisharp is OU because of many more things than just knock off:
dark type is a very good defensive type as it is now the only type that resists both dark and ghost attacks, especially ghost
dark type is now a very good offensive type since steel lost the resistance as steel is a very common pokemon type
defog being buffed to the extreme is actually a big buff to defiant pokemon, bisharp is the most notable for having STAB on a really strong priority attack and having a crazy strong attack stat behind it, giving it swords dance lays the smackdown
he’s the only steel type to resist both dark and ghost attacks
he’s a dark type with a secondary STAB that hits fairy type pokemon
knock off becoming one of the top 5 moves in the game does help as well

knock off is literally given to every pokemon (not really, but god damnit does it feel like it), chansey could come in on thundurus-I only to find out that he has knock off, mega venusaur? knock off. hell, alakazam can learn it, it’s distribution is so fucking amazing that you just can’t tell who gets it and who doesn’t and because of what it does, it’s viable on like…everything

crawdaunt’s problem is that his role is done by azumarill but much, much better. while crawdaunt deals more damage, azumarill has an infinitely better defensive typing to go with some great natural bulk. both are slow and are water types with a fuckton of power. azumarill’s bulk allows him to switch in a lot more often. it’s the only reason why crawdaunt is not OU. Also being weak to mach punch really hurts him, he might see more usage when mega lucario inevitably gets the boomstick up the ass and shot out of a cannon into ubers

infernape should’ve been UU last gen, and somehow it’s UU this gen when it’s a much better poke this gen (108 not being the golden speed, no more perma rain, fire stab is the single best stab to have currently, good priority, great coverage, threatens most mega pokemon with his awesome coverage, great utility in Rocks and u-turn, etc). it really only lacks power and that’s because its power isn’t fucking stupid like what you see in most of OU

also, smogon’s base tiers (OU, UU, RU, NU, maybe a new one gets made this gen due to the amount of pokemon) are entirely based off of usage. the cutoff point is roughly 3.41% or 1 out of every 25 teams. Ubers, BL, BL2, BL3, etc are ban lists and smogon has a say in what goes there

just be happy crawdaunt can be used in UU, staraptor will forever be BL

Lol, I was joking about the daunt. He is one of those UU that can easily be used in OU. There seem to be a lot of those this gen which I think is pretty cool. Knock off is getting a little crazy, but its nice because it breaks the stall a lot which is what I like to do. While I agree on paper Azumarill is quite a bit better if you need the dark coverage he breaks walls a lot better and he has an aqua jet with the band set that hits like a scarf chomp outrage i swear lol.

someone just got lurk’d.

what a dumbass, staraptor could have swept that team minus bisharp possibly

@r00ster22: Whenever you want to do our match, I’m online for the foreseeable future. Just toss me a PM or something if you’re available.

LOL @ that soft ass crybaby quitting after his Aegislash got ganked… Gets caught with a hard read and just crumbles like Parmesan cheese… dat Smogonella.

staraptor probably gonna run CC, BB, uturn and ??? thundurus resists the first 3 and can priority T wave it.

anyway golurk obviously sucks, too frail despite his looks, takes a boat load from a knock off but i just want to dynamic punch ;_; later on i was running golurk / azumarill, azu covers golurk’s weaknesses to dark/water/ice which is cool, but both are weak to grass D: golurk has a x4 resist to poison though heh.

i wasn’t feeling bisharp too much, being weak to both fighting and EQ makes switching him in feel weird sometimes but i’ll figure out something. maybe gyarados/gengar/bisharp/conk ??

strong flying type attackers are so scary. got bodied by mega pinsir a couple times…

i’m gonna try to run this /_/

Drifblim @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 160 Spd / 164 SAtk / 4 Atk / 180 HP
Rash Nature

  • Explosion
  • Hidden Power [Fighting]
  • Acrobatics
  • Shadow Ball

woohoo

Return

double edge or return, thundurus isn’t taking either of those very well, nor isn’t it even taking a brave bird all that well

252 Atk Reckless Staraptor Brave Bird vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Thundurus: 148-175 (49.3 - 58.3%) – 68% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Reckless Staraptor Double-Edge vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Thundurus-T: 297-351 (99 - 117%) – 93.8% chance to OHKO

he was running choice scarf as well

got it.

@phantasy- r00ster made some clutch plays and took me down 2-0.

Guess I gotta stake an epic comeback out of this Loser’s Bracket…

rooster makes it to winners semis!

everyone else: check out the bracket and make sure i didn’t skip over any match results:

watching the replays i see yall don’t like having one team only.
would yall rather :
(a) have a set number of pokemon you can choose from, like say, PM me 9 pokemon you want to use in the tournament, and you can switch them in and out between matches?
or (b) everyone PM’s me two teams they wish to use in the tournament, and they can be switched between freely between matches?
obviously everyone gotta PM me replays so i can enforce :x

This’ll be for the next emulator tournament, if we even finish the current one

Both those ideas seem interesting and better than the current setup. It is more it just gets stale being locked into one team and if you miss a certain resistance your team could just get hard countered.

That being said it could be tricky to regulate, and the current setup is still fun and different.

I think 9 set Pokemon seems fair.

Sorry I’m being a cause of delay :frowning:

damn I’m getting delayed too…
