Fun stuff. I almost gave up at one point!

again made it up in about 10 min so yeah will tinker later. I like Rest/Snore Mega Gardevoir. no one expects it!

you’d probably be better off running this set on mega gardevoir:

Calm Mind
Hyper Voice
Rest
Sleep Talk

while your set seems pretty cool, the power of hyper voice over snore is a pretty big buff (i think it’s close to double the power)
252 SpA Pixilate Mega Gardevoir Hyper Voice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard X: 262-309 (87.9 - 103.6%) – 25% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Pixilate Mega Gardevoir (No Move) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard X: 117-138 (39.2 - 46.3%) – guaranteed 3HKO

it’s actually greater than double the power (for whatever reason, the calc doesn’t have snore), while it seems cool, it’s far more effective to try sleep talk with hyper voice when it’s like setting off a nuke

running weak moves again, sweet

i would never run u-turn as a solo attack, especially on gliscor who wants to stay out there as long as he can, using u-turn in this case loses momentum, but that’s just me

trevenant is literally useless on your second team, you could replace it with just about anything and it would probably help

Wouldn’t there be the chance that sleep talk use calm mind, when you want to sweep?

In theory, sleep talk is a lot better, but after a boost or 2, you’re better off with snore because you’re guaranteed to strike twice.

Sleep talk can random out and not use the move you wanted.

@The Co-Jones, im available today and tomorrow, when will you be available?

while yes, the power advantage over snore that hyper voice has makes up for the fact you won’t get to attack every turn, it’s over double the power so you would need to use 3 snores in order to outdamage 1 hyper voice, i think the 50/50 chance is well worth it, especially when you don’t need to be asleep to use hyper voice and you do to use snore, although i find the set i gave saistu to be far more effective when backed up by wish support

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Pixelate / Bold
252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpD
Calm Mind
Hyper Voice
Psyshock
Will-O-Wisp

sets up calm minds to boost defenses and offense, hits hard on both sides, then fucks over whatever physical threats it can, this straight up beats ttar 1-on-1, it’s great on a stall team, definitely needs support though

but yea, you don’t use snore as an attack as it requires you to be asleep to use it, which you’re not going to be asleep more than awake, especially when hyper voice is over twice as strong as snore

Mood4food. SRK Competitive Pokémon Thread’s answer to a question nobody asked… Anybody could have come up with that Gardevoir set in like 5 minutes… I mean that’s the first thing I would think of if a Gardevoir came out and went Mega…

It might just be me, but I think Infernoman’s Gardevoir isn’t meant to set up a sweep but merely buy time and recover off damage and status with Rest and catch people unaware with the Snore… But what do I know?

So, recently I’ve been making an attempt to do something I’ve wanted to do for a while; go through and raise at least one of every (fully-evolved or Eviolite-worthy) Pokemon in the game. Yes, even including the likes of Beedrill, Farfetch’d, and such. I’ve made some decent progress so far…but that isn’t the full point of this post. I’d like help figuring out a set for one of them: Pidgeot. Anyone have any ideas? I’m having a hard time deciding what moveset to give it exactly. Was thinking of a mix between aggressive and defensive, since it did get a speed buff this gen (now has a base 101 speed), and it has…okay bulk, but I’m not sure.

for the record, sleep talk/hyper voice does the same thing as snore does, boost up, heal off damage, and hit things while healing up, same concept, just scarier, the fact you need 3 snores to outdamage hyper voice really limits it’s viability, they do the exact same thing, just one is more threatening to the opponent

and it doesn’t matter if you could’ve thought of it, I DID FIRST AND IT’S MY SET, BACK OFF

there is nothing you can do with pidgeot that will make it useful, everyone has tried and all have failed, even with the speed boost, everything it does is outdone by like…every flying type out there

(Yeah, Pidgeot would unfortunately need either Sloth Boost or an outright Mega forme at this point to be relevant [for the first time ever]. Probably both.)

Two more decent matches with a slightly differed form of that Pangoro team; I need to stop getting the damn panda OHKO’d:

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-80696761
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-80695172

Currently trying to make an Ubers team based around Arceus-Rock since I keep running into fucking Genesect or a Deoxys forme or the abomination that is Manaphy basically every OU match anyway. I realize know that the other Deoxys formes are still Uber like they belong, so my question before with regards to that Deoxys-“natural” and Deoxys-Attack is moot.

Also probably going to try to start messing around with Tyrantum given the brief talk about it in the other thread and the fact that I pretty much never use Dragons or Dragon Dance on top of that. So, needless to say, I’ll be making two more Sandstorm teams already. Whee.

Noted. Except that Infernape doesn’t have Snarl, can’t heal himself & thus can’t pull off Rocky Helmet and has an additional unfortunate weakness to, among other things, Flying. The latter means that unlike Arcanine, Infernape auto-loses to Talonflame ten times out of ten unless Infernape is sashed for some reason. So I’ll pass on None-Goku for this team.

Also, I don’t want really want to run either Mega Zard at present, especially since it’s one of those Pokemon that are already everywhere and I’m trying to get used to the concept of Mega Pokemon in general. I could see probably replacing Arcanine with Mega Charizard X, eventually, due not making Fire attacks worse for the reason of the team and due to the four times resistance to Fire among other things, but not now.

Still, noted with the requisite grain of salt.

Not changing the set. Catches people off guard that don’t expect it and I prefer consistency over power. once again lol @Mood4Food77 telling me how I should make mons. I won’t lie I took this off of…gasp SMOGON! here:

*Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature

  • Calm Mind
  • Psychic
  • Rest
  • Snore

It’s easy enough to find a good moment to switch in with the ability trace and solid special bulk, and once you do, you can start boosting. It’s best to preserve it for late game, when powerful phyisical attackers (like Terrakion, Scizor and Aegislash) are taken out. Maximum physical investment ensures that not even Kyurem-B can 2hitKO her, and makes it surprisingly durable against anything that cannot hit her with super effective damage on the physical side. Snore looks like an incredibly stupid and useless option, but it hits surprisingly hard as a 98 BP Fairy move which ignores substitutes once the boosts start stacking up. Rest+Snore has notable advantages over Resttalk (more coverage moves, and more reliable when asleep), and wish (requires you one turn to wait, only heals half of your HP). This set shines when people try to widdle you down with status or expect repeated 3HKO attacks will do the job. The only thing that is slightly annoying is that you need to use Rest in order to use snore, which can be a liability.*

Unique enough for me to give it a try.

snarl is a terrible move, don’t bother with it, you might as well use splash, if you run snarl, expect your arcanine to die a turn or 2 later

rocky helmet is a bad item, it’s only good on ferrothorn right now due to the amount of priority and recoil moves out there (taking 25% sucks), on everything else it sucks (garchomp wants other items)

arcanine is outclassed in every role it plays, it’s only niche is intimidate and on a fire type, it’s not really worth it when he’s weak to stuff on both sides of the spectrum, toxic stalling so done better by moltres and heatran, offensive sets are done better by both mega zards, talonflame, and infernape

he’s a badass, but he’s entirely outclassed and not a threat, pure fire is a bad type to have defensively

you use this set against any competent person and you lose, straight up, it’s terrible, seriously. and just cause it’s in that thread doesn’t mean it’s from smogon…kinda

dude is probably a bad battler and this is working for him at his level due to everyone being sucky.

You know…I still think it’s baffling how Mood doesn’t see how he’s coming off as a douche when he’s insulting anyone and everyone’s intelligence for no reason at all.

At this point I can’t even make a joke about it anymore. The amount of douche he’s exuding right now is overwhelming.

outside of infernoman (he deserved it) and po, i don’t insult anyone

i’m just blunt about it, if your set sucks, i’ll straight up tell you it sucks and explain why and what you can do to make it suck less

i’m not going to sugar coat as there’s no need to, if something is shitty, it’s shitty

I’ll test your set and infernomans set. I’ll write about my results here.

Both sets will not have extra support, only because I’m testing for gardevoirs effectiveness.

Snarl is really good in doubles.

he’s running it in singles, i have no clue what to do in doubles so everything i say only has merit in singles
