SRK Clan reborn!

Balloon, I don’t think YOU get it. I’ve played against some damn good people, and I’ve beaten some better ones. Numbers, rank, how good other people think certain other people are, these things don’t matter to me. What matters to me is whether or not they can beat me, and I have yet to run into a person that can make me go, “Holy shit he’s good. I wanna learn from him.” Back in my Halo 1 days, I did have quite a few people like that. But I’m ALOT better in H2 then I am H1, and I am damn good at H1.

Also, you can keep saying 1v1 doesn’t count, its not going to make a difference. If you can’t beat a person one on one, then they’re better then you. Period.

And, BF, Hai is Japanese for yes. You think I don’t know that shit?

Rather you like it or not, I consider MLG to be for scrubs. I’m offering the chance for you MLG punks to play me and show me that MLG is SOOOO much better and more fair then Halo 2. So bring it on, unless you’re scared. Which I wouldn’t find suprising.

Some MLG teams have people specially trained for each specific weapon? OH WOW. Holy shit thats awesome. Now if only I can learn to use the rocke… oh wait… already know… Or the Battl… shit, I know that one too… Damn, I cannot think of a SINGLE WEAPON that I don’t “specialize” in.
I guess that makes me the equivalent of an entire MLG team.

Keep talkin shit. I haven’t seen a single one of you guys take me up on a Halo 2 or MLG match offer yet. So all your words are just air until you can back it up with a post-game carnage report.

Now, you can keep acting like Rush doesn’t know what he’s talking about, or you can realize that I’m the guy who, on an AVERAGE, scores over HALF his teams kills. You guys have gotten better, I give you that, but you have to be complete morons if you think I’ve just been sitting back and getting rusty. I improve my game -everyday-.

So, bring it. Or can it.

MLG handicaps the game by giving everyone a BR to start and no radar. Basically, anyone who plays MLG ADMITS they don’t know how to use the radar, nor how to use an SMG (former standard starting weapon).

It is a handicap because the people who support MLG rules wanted Halo 2 dumbed down for their comfort.

uh sticky?

ps: i forgot about spac, did he win? i don’t remember the outcome of that one

besides, it’s not like it’s difficult to aim with the battle rifle. just point at the head and shoot, the auto-aim and sweep function does the rest for you.
if they took out auto-aim I would be a lot happier

Im not offended by any means. Its your opinion and your subscription to live. I just wish that you can give it a lil bit more of a chance.

AND question for everybody, what is your favorite weapon?

Mine is the BR, or grenades, if it is considered a weapon.

My only thing is, you guys would make fun of some scrub for throwing an MvC2 tournament and saying “magneto and cable are banned”, yet you don’t have a problem with them doing the equivalent in Halo 2.

Seems pretty hypocritical to me.

 Maybe if MvC2 (a fighting game) had a customizable game type?

Edit: Team Hardcore comes out tommorow guys , yall ready?

Since evolution is on console now, yeah, Marvel -does- have customisable options.

What about the games that do ban characters? Like CvS2, 3S(Gill), and alpha 3. I dont play those games but there has to be a reason why every tournament in America bans certain characters from their corresponding games. Their probably not banned from casual but def. from tournament games. The same thing as Halo, instead of banning settings, certain arent used. SMG being one of those weapons.

Oh my bad, I forgot to mention the 5 (at the most) customizable options in marvel v.s. the 9239804239084238904089233984990 in Halo 2. My bad.

Bigazn you can still use a smg in MLG settings if you pick it up, but it’s not going to do you much help unless you are covering one room dual weilding or in a similar small area situation. Even then a BR vs dual weilding would still get owned to a good player due to BXR.

I saw just messin around! =P But every1 at EVO 2K5 said mgl gayed up EVO but maybe that was just the haters? also when they came to STL(Tekken town)they had tekken tourny and every1 said fuck it and with to more respectable tourments in Chicago and Texas. I think no more then 10 ppl went(no lie) and the guy that won later got his ass beat(again)by the top tekken players with his own charcter! :o

his actions(betrade) speak louder then words could! :wow: :badboy: :looney: :shake: :crybaby: :wgrin: :razzy: :annoy: :wasted: :arazz:  :smokin:

Making every1 have BR is like making every1 have ironman or captain commando or your team. none the less still gay. now banning sniper and rockets would be like banning mag and cable. MvC2 arcade had some customizable like time and health via dip system.

Wow guys… Just wow.

Um…

Let me shed some light on MLG gametypes.
MLG ran Halo 1 tournaments since it was first released. When Halo 2 hit, the gameplay was generally accepted by the MLG community as severly unbalanced and map control was alot easier than it was in Halo 2. So many of the top players in the nation and most of the MLG community started to disapprove of Halo 2 as a tournament title, mainly because it lacked the feel and gameplay and strategy stlye that was needed to succeed in Halo 1.

So in order to maintain MLG’s commpetetive tournament player base, MLG created rules, game types and match settings that would give their player base the closest feeling they had when attended the old MLG Halo 1 tournaments.

Through custom games and xbox live communication, MLG’s game types have spread and been missunderstood.

Well said.

I’m not sure what you mean by dumbed down, but I can tell you that the BR is much harder to use than Dual SMG’s.

The BR start was implemented to balance out the game play in Halo 2. It’s considered to be the closest equivelent to the pistol of Halo 1. The reasons for BR start become obvious when the term “map control” is brought up.

Spawning with an SMG when the other team has full control of a map, weapons, location, positioning = GGPO. Theres nothing you can do camp with some dual wields and hope the stupid member on their team runs by you with snipe/sword. In a tournament level game with experienced players, I will put anything on it that that will not happen.

So in order to give everyone someone what of a fighting chance the BR start was implemented to “nerf” the amount of “map control” one team could have.

can i have a link to Halo1or2 tourny vids?

speaking of tourny isnt it close to having the SRK Halo05 tourny weeks?

who won 2k4 SRK H2 tourny? :wtf:

If you become a member of www.MLGPro.com, sign up and get VOD (Video on Demand).

All the latest touraments and matches vids of the best “known” H2 players will be at your disposal.

P.S. Rush, I have some MLG guys that are willing to play you in what ever game type you wish. Your call. 1v1 2v2 3v3 4v4, TS, CTF, Oddball… whatever you want.

I’m not organizing this for the purpose of shit talk. I’m doing this in defense of your claims of MLG purposes. You said noone from MLG would take your challenge, well, I’ve been a member of MLG for almost as long as how long I’ve been a member here. I’ve played both fighters and Halo on a competetive level since day one of both of my join dates to the communities if not sooner. My previous posts should explain why I didn’t take your challenge (* Most of the MLG community does not consider Halo 2 a tournament worthy game *) … myself included… but many of the other members of MLG were anxious to accept your.

…all they want to know is what do you want to play.

I will say this again, and this is the last time I will say it. I KNOW for a fact that I’ve posted it twice, here, alone, already.

Demanding everyone start with BR so no one can control the map is the EXACT SAME THING AS ADMITTING YOU SUCK AT HALO. Did I say it loudly and clearly that time? Do you get what I mean now? Or do I have to spell it out for you?

I’m good enough to take map control away from my enemies using the SMG as a starting weapon.
By giving everyone a BR, instead of making them work for it, you’re saying, “Oh, its ok to suck ass. Here, lets make the game easier for you.” Well, MLG fans, Rush wants to know if you’d like some cheese with your WHINE.

Ok Chief. Tell your people to hit me up. I’ll do 1 v 1 and even 1 v 2.

If I could find another team mate, I’d even do 2 v 2 or 2 v 3.

I don’t consider MLG to be tournament worthy, and any “pro” who supports it obviously doesn’t deserve his/her title.

To Dano: Me AND Weeks organized the last tourny, thank you very much. And no one won it. It was cancelled due to lack of interest. Myself and o0Ryu0o were currently undefeated at the time the tourny fell out. I’m not sure about everyone else. I think Weeks deleted the brackets.

And I think its obvious that we can’t have another tourny on SRK. Myself and Weeks, among others, won’t play MLG rules, and some of the others say MLG is the only way to go. So, not enough people for a tourny due to split opinions.

So you still haven’t mentioned why editing one game for tournaments to fit personal preference is cool but doing it to another game is unacceptable.

ps: mlg as a company forever earned the hatred of many srkers for their SHADY AS SHIT handling of tournament payouts, also on tekkenzaibatsu

edit: so to sum up what the chief posted - halo 2 came out. most people who were good at halo 1 didn’t like it because halo 2 wasn’t halo 1. so they attempted to make it as like halo 1 as possible. all because there were people who couldn’t handle playing a different game.

that’s retarded. i think you had a much better argument when you said something about balance issues and such as that.

edit2: about the tourney, it didn’t fall apart due to a lack of interest, it fell apart due to a lack of people being able to play their god damned matches in a timely manner. there were several people who were undefeated, rush, me, ryu, and others.

i’m completely down with throwing another one, however. the rule system we had in place worked fine and it accomodated mlg rules perfectly

I understand what your saying, but it has been argued and proven many times that in a standard weapon start (SMG) when a team gains map control, it is extremly difficult if not impossible for the other team to gain it back. This is true for high level play. Not standard casula play between unproffessional inexperienced players.

The incorporation of the BR Start evens out the playing field the higher you get in competetive Halo 2 play.

It is widely agreed in the MLG community that 1v1 in Halo 2 is not even worth playing, but some players still play it as a test of skill. It would be easier to get you a good team match before a 1v1 but all are negotiable.

working out details ass I type

Your not the only one. Many people still miss understand the full concept of MLG’s settings. To each his own, but if you ever come to understand the concept. You are more than welcome at the forums.

Weeks - I could’ve went into extreme detail with the balance issues. I didn’t want it to turn into a “this situation/that situation” discussion, so I kept it short.

Discussions about balancing Halo 2 have been going on loooong since the game came out. I’ll post some examples from previous discussions.

This is one of the answers I gave for an Interview with a gaming magazine:

**Should MLG look into the inclusion of a territories gametype, adding the SMG as a secondary weapon, the addition of other levels, or any other different ideas that are floating out there? **
*I think MLG’s decisions on what balances the game out are fine as they are. There are reasons behind every decision and I agree with them. MLG started out with Halo 1 as the main game because it was a solid game all around. The changes in Halo 2 changed what made Halo “Halo”. Some would say Halo 2 is a completely different game. After playing Halo 2 as it is, many competitive players found aspects of the game that could be easily exploited in high level play, which caused many serious players to shun the game. To prevent this from happening MLG began to do their best to keep competitive players playing the game by bringing the game as close as possible back to it’s roots by altering settings and what have you, so the game would play similar to Halo 1.

With the way Halo 2 is designed, this goal falls short but many players agree that it does help balance the game out. The results of the changes are still being argued today and serious players are still abandoning the game while others accept the changes, but in the end, the serious players will realize why these changes make sense.*

I’m still looking for more info and discussions on the topic.
