That is why Bungie is coming out with the playlist tommorow. Because a majority of the community wants it.

Weeks it’s not a personal opinion, it’s an agreement of many people together, and the chief summed that up pretty much. But I do agree with you that what they did to people from SRK was extremely homosexual, and there is no excusing that. I just believe that the rules they use for tournaments makes the game based around skill than running around dual wielding all day like my 5 year old cousin does. Matchmaking is still fun, but so is MLG rules. I prefer MLG, but I like both.

I’m not trying to start a feud. You requested a challenge from members of MLG and these guys wanted to take it. I don’t know them personally or how good they are. They are just members of the MLG community.

The MLG rules are just a big cop out. Halo 2 is Halo 2 … it is not fucking Halo 1. That means dual weilds, that means raped pistol, that means sword … for better or for worse. Going by imaginary rules is the equivalent of saying Throw is cheap in Street Fighter and then banning that move … or turning off Parry in 3rd Strike because you liked Street Fighter 2’s gameplay better. It’s just absurd and a cop out. If you prefer Halo 1’s gameplay, go fucking play Halo 1. And plenty of people still do.

That’s just another cop out, and a horrible thinking right there. It’s never over till it’s over. That’s what seperates championship teams from pussies who give up. “Oh it’s hopeless they ahve all the best weapons it’s over”. Could you imagine if top Street Fighter players just quit because the first round didn’t go there way? How many amazing comebacks have you seen? And I’ve been apart of plenty of amazing comebacks in Halo 2 as well.

Let’s throw a theoretical out there. Let’s say the other team just gained control of the match, has BOTH snipers, rockets, and everyone is carrying a BR. Yes, it’s not going to look good for the other team, but part of strategy and skill is getting control of those weapons in the first place.

However, for sake of argument, let’s say BY LUCK (not skill) the other team JUST HAPPENED to get control of everytime. Yes, they do have the advantage, however, it’s never over till it’s over. If the other team is good they will regroup and formulate a strategy. How about one player grabs the Banshee as a distraction, doing nothing but dodging the rocket launcher, then relays the other teams positioning to his team. Then your team makes a concerted effort, grenades flying, to try and knock out a few snipers. Or any of a million other scenario’s.

But no, most pussies will leave the match once they are down 15 kills. Then blame the game instead of themselves.

And for the record, BOTH big stages DO start you out with the battle rifle! Have you even played team slayer lately lol? If you are on coagulation or burial mounds, YOU ALWAYS START WITH BATTLE RIFLE! So your argument here is worthless!

I find it hard to believe that you have played with anything more than your local comp. I don’t have the time to get into much detail, so I’ll keep ths short too.

Yeah, It’s never over till it’s over is the best thing a true competetor can tell himself, but when it comes down to balancing and breaking a game, breaking the game is what true winners are going to want to to. They will stop at nothing to win. Period.

Until you go to a tournament where thousands of dollars are on the line and the other team has full map control with 5 kills to go and all you and your team have is an SMG… you won’t understand the reasons behind MLG’s settings. All you have is the players who brag and talk shit over xbox live.

I have nothing against yours or anybody elses opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own. I’m just trying to stand up for what noone else here is standing up for. I’m not trying to force you to play MLG, I’m trying to get people to see the reasons why MLG has generally been accepted in the Halo community.

This discussion has taken place many many times and I’ve participated in almost all of them. I can tell you that not everyone will understand. The ones that due are the ones that are truely serious about the game. The ones that play Halo as their main hobby. The ones who travel the nation in search for the best competition and events available.

The ones who stay home and play with their friends will not fully understand that type of mind set, but when they finally dig into it, you will learn to be receptive of all ideas and concepts that acompany your favorite hobby.

Did you know that bungie recently changed the settings of their game types to BR start due to game balance issues. A experienced team that has played together for years will not lose to a team that just met each other in matchmaking.

Your speaking from a casual stand point. Even bungie is seeing that that game has balance issues when it comes to team games. Thats why they incprorated the BR start on most of their maps recently. Thats why the Halo 2 Hardcore update is comming out: Read about it here.

It is clear that Bungie saw imbalances and that’s why you start w/ BR on some stages now. Simliar to how CApcom/Sega/Namco update fighting games, Bungie released a patch that helped balance out an aspect of it’s game. So why is there a need for these stupid “MLG” rules when the issue has already been addressed???

And no Radar? WTF is the logic behind that? If I’m in a team slayer game and theres no Radar I leave. You take out radar you take out crouching and stealth, big parts of the game.

It’s fucking retarded. I guess next time I hold a 3rd Strike tournament, I will go into system direction and remove parrying, because me and a bunch of scrubs thing it’s unfair. Then we ban Chun li and Ken, because they are too powerful. Oh and throws are illegal. I mean, when you start to fuck with rules like this, you are changing the game to something the developers do not intend it to be.

The MLG rule set is not widely accepted as you see it. It is only widely accepted in the MLG community.

And let all the MLG fags play their own “version” of Halo 2, it won’t matter. Because once Bungie themselves hosts an actual “official” tournament that has radar and no BR at start, then not a single MLG player will place, they’ll all just go back to their own little world and complain because Bungie didn’t conform to their made up set of rules :rolleyes:

You know, MLG might have a big following but the best Halo 2 players in the world are not MLG, although some MLG players might think they are the best in the world…in their “imaginary” Halo 2 world with “imaginary” rules.

The funniest part of the article is how it shows a made up screen shot of MLG players at low levels, then it shows Ogre1, Ogre2 with zero kills. Then the caption says “Team Hardcore will probably look alot like this”. LMAO, Yeah right :rolleyes: .

Have you ever seen the Ogre’s play? I’ve seen their vids, they’re incredible. They don’t seem to have any trouble with the Bungie rules, it’s only these MLG wanna-be crybabys who complain. But whenever this “Hardcore” thing comes out, I will bet any money, even under the stupid rules, the Ogre’s will stomp the shit out of anyone MLG.

At least the Cheif offered something. Then I countered and offered my own arguments, he acknowledged them but ignored them, and instead dismissed me saying I’m not a tournament player like him, and that he’s right even though he doesn’t feel like arguing his point. I’m just supposed to get on my knees and accept what he says and start sucking his dick, not because he has any good points, but because he is who he is (which is a nobody in the Halo 2 community).

And Chief, to call me unprofessional is one thing. Thats true. I haven’t played a single ACTUAL tournament. But inexperienced? Thats just naivety. You are the type of person who would sit back and sing the praise of “pro’s” that you like, and every time someone says “I think I could beat him.”, you and alot of the other people around here are like "No u culdn’t, silly newb!"
Well, guess what. I’m not like that. I see these Pro’s, and all I want is a chance to beat them. Balloon brags, CONSTANTLY, about the game he LOST to Ogre 1. Good job, BF, you lost to Ogre 1. Meanwhile, me and my random team that I joined in Team Training beat Ogre 1 and his team in CTF on Lockout. Which, unfortanetly, happened before the stat wipe, or I’d show you. And of course you’re not going to believe me. But if you’re not going to believe me that I might have what it takes to compete at the very highest level of Halo competition, why should any of you believe that Weeks was THE BEST, the BEST, MVC2 player in the Midwest for awhile? Hmm? Or is it just not plausible for someone you know to be that good?

Of course, I don’t intend to just say it and do nothing. I’m going to participate in tournaments. The big problem is that most tourny’s are 4v4, and I’d need two more team mates, and the bigger problem is Money/Distance. I will overcome.
And I might even participate in MLG tournaments, just because I like easy money.

Doubt me all you want, but I don’t see ANY of you willing to take me on 1 on 1. Hell, if it means that much to you, I can get my online TS team together. We can make it a 4 v 4.

However, and this is the last time I’m saying THIS, if you lose to someone 1v1, they’re better then you. And that explains why none of you is willing to play 1v1. Because you rely on PEOPLE LIKE ME to get half your teams kills.

Its ok for you guys to talk shit and not back it up. I don’t mind. I know where I stand.

And Parry is absolutely right about everything he said. And I don’t even get along with Parry that well.
