SRK Clan reborn!

lol

Noone said Final sucks.

The reason why I joined the discussion was because Final said MLG sucks and all I did was clarify what MLG is and why it’s mis-understood.

Your last paragraph
Thats why going in with people you know is the best bet for a win. You know the tendencies for your team and communication is easier. MLG is for tournaments where teams sign up and take on teams from across the nation. Match/Making is random people who just like playing team slayer. Yeah some of the have skill, but you don’t know who you can count on until half way into the game. Match/Making is designed for mass play. Anyone who has the game and xbl can play it. It appeals to everyone. But when the players who learn how to exploit the game come around they know what works and what doesn’t hand also how to win. The techniqes they use are the settings that MLG incorporates to balance their tournaments.

I know. That’s called strategy. That’s how you win in Halo 2. How is getting control of good weapons unbalanced? It’s still a matter of getting control of those weapons, and if both teams are of equal skill, sounds like we got a pretty bad ass battle on our hands! Starting everyone with snipers and taking away the radar takes all that strategy away and turns it into an ENTIRELY different game. That’s stupid.

If you are playing marvel and get someone going in an infinite combo, guess what? That player dies, and can’t do a goddamn thing about it. Same as locking down a map. but the skill in the matter is doing catching that infinite in the first place, getting the right weapons in the first place, locking down the fight/map. Unbalanced? Yes. Unfair? No, because both teams have equal chance at the begining of controling the weapons. If the one team happens to get all the good weapons, it’s GGPO for the other. But if the other were good, they wouldn’t have let that happen in the first place.

Again, I say so what if it’s unbalanced and “top level players” shunned it? Oh well, they’re will be new top level players to take their place. Again, I assure you, MVC2 is JUST as unbalanced as Halo 2 if not moreso.

You want a truely balanced FPS?? All battle rifles on the board, all battle rifles on the map. Gee wiz that sounds like fun. Exact same point Weeks made about all rockets and snipers.

Agian though that’s it, I’m done arguing. If you would rather play stupid rules like all snipers and no radar in your games because it balances it out, to each his own. Personally, no, I’d rather play Halo 2 the way it was intended.

That’s just a stance I have, that the original game should not be tampered with by anyone outside of the developers themselves. This goes for any competetive game out there. This is my opinion and it’s not going to change. I’m not going to play Capcom Vs. SNK 2 with Ex grooves, I’m not going to play Third Strike under weird system direction, I’m not going to play Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 that is completely balanced through Mugen, I won’t play a Halo 1 with dual wields, and I won’t play Halo 2 seriously unless it is under standard rules and map defaults set out by the developers.

So then you’re saying you understand the reasons behind MLG’s settings but don’t agree with them?

If so, my whole entire goal is reached.

If no, thats your opinion and the conversation is over.

BDN fool! and ur an overlord also!

anyway were 7 members strong and still growing!

ninja edit:could some1 name all fighting games in MGL?

First off Rush, I didn’t know that “hai” meant yes. I was just saying hi in a weird sense. Anyway, radar is the easiest thing to use ever. Just look at the red dot and you know exactly where he is. Radar was taken off to focus on the teamwork aspect of the game, and to make it so you can’t just sit at one spot forever just shotgunning or whatever, aka camping.

I didn’t read all the posts, just one of rushes, but I still don’t know how you anti mlg guys can not like the br. Rush you are very good, one of the better players I play with, but if you want to prove you are even better, MLG is for you since it requires the MOST skill to get good at. We should play some hardcore with a couple of my friends.

bf: making it no radar makes crouching completely worthless, so it basically takes out an entire element of the game

Fine Balloon, I’ll play some Team Pussy with you and your friends if you want to invite me. Only because its you.

And Chief, let me clarify something. I may have said it wrong, and I’m sorry.

I don’t consider all MLG players to be scrubs. I probably did make it sound like that. I was wrong.
What I really meant is
MLG is scrub.

MLG = Cable of Halo 2

PS: The only thing I’d do if I got on the MLG forums is make enemies for calling all MLG Game Types retarded. I stand by that, and always will stand by that. That doesn’t mean I won’t play it. It just means that I’ve accepted the ignorance that is MLG as permanent.

By saying MLG is Scrub/Scrubish, your saying that the people who play are are scrubby as well.

I have alot of players ready to change your mind about how scubby MLG is. Suprisingly, even some of MLG’s top tournament placers are in for this challenge as well. (People who scrim with the Orges and Zyos’s MLG teams on a regular basis).

You’re actually in for a treat that most of the MLG community has always wanted. (a chance to test themselves against top players)

Accept their invite and contact them. They are ready when you are.

FRC Edit*

hmm… I wonder who negged me for this topic. lol ParryAll? Weeks?

I’m sorry if I’m offending you. =)

I understand the reasons for MLG settings, yes. I do not agree that the reasons justify altering Halo 2’s gameplay, though.

The whole idea of trying to balance an FPS is futile. The only way to truely balance it would be to give everyone the exact same weapon, with nothing hidden on the board.

There is no such thing as altering Halo 2’s gameplay. What is a “normal game” to you? Default start? Free for all 25 kills default start? Or is it Team Slayer in matchmaking? There is no regular type of gameplay, that’s why there are different kinds of matchmaking, and they just added team hardcore.

That displays the differences between FPS’s and Fighting games.

Since the history of FPS’s have almost all had gamplay setting options, there is no big deal in changeing, especially if it makes the game enjoyable. Not to core FPS players. The settings for most FPS events are plastered in extreme detail for all would be attendees to see, and practice.

The same would work for fighters, but the history for fighting games doesn’t influence changing settings and whatever. Especially if it hit arcade first. When you chose your fighting game events, you will chose the ones that have the rules you’re use to, same goes for FPS events.

Two differnet backgrounds for two different genre’s. MLG is doing nothing out of the ordinary.

I think you said that a bit too quickly w/o thinking. Crouching has more uses than just avoiding radar.

sniper/rl spawn defeats the purpose of having power weapons. It’s like having infinite meter in mvc2.

lol dude i never even knew i was overlord lol ne ways when we gonna play dano
who negged me also i wasnt even in this conversation…

Regular type gameplay: Weapons on Map = Defaults. Starting Weapon = Battle Rifle. Team Slayer. First to 50 Kills. Radar = on. That’s how it should be for tournaments.

I still don’t agree with what MLG is doing.

He’s saying by removing the Radar, you are removing a huge element of the game, in this case the stealth element of staying crouched. And he’s right.

Oh, then how do you justify that MLG has Snipers as a starting weapon on Collosus and other boards for tournaments? Ouch, looks like you might not agree with MLG afterall. You’re an anti-MLGer and you don’t even know it.

And you add an entirely new element to the game, teamwork, which is the basis for MLG. I mean you CAN do teamwork with radar, but w/o radar, you MUST have teamwork to gain anything, and that obviously takes more skill, so I don’t see why it’s scrubby as Rush says.

There’s a difference between having all snipers on lockout and having all snipers on colossus. There’s not much you can do with all your teammates having a sniper on lockout since you need to actually see the enemy to shoot them, and in lockout, nobody’s gonna be standing on top of BR tower or camping on lift waiting to be shot. If your team has the sniper on lockout with BR start, then you actually have some map domination, in fact, you gain a huge advantage if you position yourself on BR tower with the library covered, the sniper on top, one near the sword room, and one on side BR checking lift and under lift. However, if your team has the sniper on colossus, you don’t gain as much map control as you would have if it was on lockout, there are more things to worry about (overshield for say), and you don’t have as much cover in that map. Now I admit I don’t know why they chose to have team snipers on colossus, since BR start would suit that map as well, but I understand why it would not jeapordize anything as I have outlined above in comparisons, so I don’t disagree with it. See, you jumped into that question w/o thinking about other things, such as questioning if the map has any affect on sniper spawn, in some maps its useless having sniper spawn (lockout), and other maps it can be suited for since one sniper would not make a big difference (colossus). I guess it’s my fault for not being clear enough the first time.

Perhaps Chief can explain this one better.

sure as fuck wasn’t me, i always sign my reps

Wasn’t me either. The only people I negged in here were Weeks and Final_Rush, but that was pages and pages ago.

That’s pretty funny, since at 7:44pm I clicked on your name on “users online” to get to your profile to see what you were doing and it said giving reps @ 7:44pm. Next thing you know I go to my user CP and see that I was negged for this thread.

Lying fuck. Go kill yourself. Can’t even be honest. Here’s some advice your mom can’t give you, nobody cares about reps, so stop wasting your time giving them.

This scenario that you have outlined would be unfair and thus unbalanced for tournament play by The Chief’s logic. I said that by you and Chief’s logic, only if everyone started with the same weapon would everything truly be balanced, and now you come at me with this  .

So now you are contradicting you and The Chief’s original point. Now you agree with me that map defaults are a good thing?

Perhaps because I’m not sure you even know what you are trying to say/argue in the first place.

Correction Ben, I just negged Saphire X.
