Looking at supercars is a billion times worse than looking at supermodels I can never bang. I could get lucky and actually seduce a supermodel and have her fall in love with me ( ), but thereâs no way Iâll ever be able to legally afford a Euro supercar. I couldnât even justify the taxes on one. So, here I come, Heidi Klum, baby!
Okay guys I have a question. I a couple of years I would like to purchase a sports car, now I have been thinking about what I like (considering body style and performance) and I am wondering what would be a good investment. Here is a list of cars I have been thinking about:
Honda S2000
Nissan 350 or 370z
Audi TT
BMW M3
BMW Z4 M coupe
Porsche Cayman S (love that body style)
As of right now, I canât think of too much else. But honestly I am really feelin the Bimmers, but any suggestions would be great as well as advice and what not.
Well technically, none of them (cars in general) are a good investment.
But I guess it just depends on what you like and your budget. How much are you willing to spend? What are you specifically looking for? Are you planning on doing any mods? etc.
Newer turbos are not laggy at all actually they are better than superchargers do to it not being belt driven and has its on oiling system. And Dj hype all over those cars you listed cept for the 370z is overpriced garbage
If you are going to buy in a couple years, why not decide then. There is a lot that can change in a few years.
Well these are all the cars that I have actually driven and have like the body style as well. Now I plan on making a few mods to whatever car I buy (excluding the Porsche). I love the body style of the M3 the best, that is one of my favorite cars. As far as the TT, I now that it is really under powered. The S2000 is still pricey, but when I drove it I really had tons of fun with it. The Z seems like the best investment at the moment, and I have been looking at the prices and what not, and I have always been a fan of the newer Zâs.
@King-sun: Why do you say that all of the cars are overpriced garbage? I hear nothing but great things about the M3, as well as the S2000. What would you recommend? And the Z is in my top 3 right now.
@Ducky: Though I will buy one in a couple of years, I think it is good to start doing the research on it now. I know things can change, but this advice that is being given will help me see things from a different perspective.
Not a fan of the S2000. On paper, even though power isnât much, it should be plenty for a light car like that. The problem is that the power curve is way too steep. I have driven a couple, and the chassis just feels and sounds rickety.
Best bet: High mileage early S2000.
Even if it has 140K+ miles, itâs still a Honda. And early 140K+ mi S2000 can be had for as little as 8K. Thatâs what I would do; cheapest point of entry for a good modern sports car, and you arenât going to be looked at any different than the guy that just paid 24K for his 2008 S2000.
That is what I was thinking. As far as doing the mods and whant not, I knew that if I got an S2000 then I would buy a hard top to put in place. Also Since it is a Honda I know the engine will last some time. Its funny because for years I wanted the 350Z, but I notice that my taste in cars have changed a ton.
Lets not forget that the first gen S2k redlined at 9k.
On a side noteâŚ
Nice. The XJ220 has been my dream car for a long time now.
S2000. Clean title in Cincy for $6750, with a youtube presentation. 147K. Itâs been a daily driver, so itâs not perfect, butâŚ

If thatâs not a deal, I donât know what is.
First off, any car you take care off and man up by doing regular maintenance will last a long time. Granted some makes and models may vary on what needs to be focused on than other but ultimately you gotta put in work either way. Second, this isnât some fucking grocery getter going to point a to b commuter, you want a car that performs, so the emphases is going to be power and shit which means putting in work under the hood regardless unless you just want to look good and be a poser. Any of those cars you mentioned earlier will be great platforms to work on with the exception of the bmwâs(the later models are all computer driven and unless you went to their S.T.E.P. program and can get a hold of their diagnosis scan tools and programs, GOOD LUCK)
My suggestion is to go with a base model with any of the other cars. With the amount of money you spend on getting a NISMO package or what ever manufacturer sports package, the money doesnât speak or directly transfer into performance. With the money you save by going the bare bones route, you can throw the difference into better shit or focus more into a certain part of the car from the get go.
That is a great idea. Yeah it is kind of like starting with a blank canvas. I like the S2K a lot, and I am partial to the 350Z. I I know BMWâs are extremely expensive to get under the hood for (heck even my uncle said that for him to change the oil in his M3 it still cost a good $75). So that is a great suggestion. I noticed with buying used cars, it is hard to find someone who has not made performance upgrades to it. I would prefer to get a bare bones whip so I can make my own mods to it, thus I know exactly what is going into the car and whatnot.
It also depends on who you are buying a car from. Yeah the notion is if a sports car is up for sale, some aftermarket parts were thrown in, but not everyone is going to be drastically changing the internals, most likely you will run across a car that has a cold air intake or obnoxious fart can, maybe chopped the springs on their suspension. So just do your homework and see where the seller is coming from and I think youâll do alright.
