SRK 2014 fitness challenge -Season 2 starts on Page 7 Bread is bad....right?

been working out at least 4 out of the 7 days, should be more.

Diet has mostly been at home, and portions have been controlled. However. I have eated out a few times.

Check-in:

I started out strong with the diet and exercise and lost 8 lbs. But last week I made a trip to Austin for five days for a conference and fucked it all up. This week I’ve been a little slow getting back into the routine. I’m down to 184 lbs from 190, and I think not drinking Coke has made a difference despite all the Texas BBQ last week. I still think I’ll be able to reach my goals, but I gotta get back into it full force. I’m starting back on the cardio and weights tomorrow, and I feel confident that I’ll be under 180 by next check-in.

But then mahfuckin’ Mario Kart comes out and everything will probably go right down the turlet.

Stay solid everyone. I’m working out just as hard along side you guys.

Here is some motivation to keep you guys goin.

I’ll most certainly sign up for Season 2.

Although I’m not in the current fitness challenge, I feel compelled to post some stuff and let others know about me:

[details=Spoiler]
Weight: 178 lbs
Height: 5 ft '8
Age: 17(im gonna be 18 in june)
Goal: Be in good physical condition for welding/construction jobs. I want to lose unneeded weight and gain body strength.
Weakness: Bad eating habits, lack of sleep.
Story: I’m not too concerned about my own looks. Everyone is attractive or beautiful in their own ways. Embrace thyself.
Plan: Consume less and make a big push to avoid foods that are loaded with crap.
I’ve been doing push ups and pull ups five to six days a week. [/details]

@NickRocks: ???

After an initial good start, haven’t done anything past week and a half, not gonna give an excuse, most of my time has been spent revising for exams, but I’ve had opportunities to go out and exercise, just not done it.

this month was not too bad, I just cant let go of bread; she just sits there, calling my name “SHADOW,shhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaadddddooooooowwwwwwwww, come here big boy come and get me” and Im like no get away you harlot

I think this month ill designate a bread day per week, a day where I can eat bread maybe friday or saturday

and to up the ante I wont post reminders or bump the thread when its time to check in >:)

Sucks how I forgot to check in, I told myself to check in but yeah.

Regards, last month was terrible for me. The weekends were bad on my diet, drunk a lot of soda, ate some fast food and I didn’t work out as much. I was surprised on how easily I drop soda from my diet, but I can’t break my habit of eating so much bread. Not sure if I loss or gain weight since my scale went missing, but I sure I haven’t loss weight

My plan this month is to watch my bread intake, find time to workout (been sleeping during the afternoon :mad:), go a full week without drinking soda, and to check in on the due date

Well, Pedoviejo clearly gets my vote for midseason MVP. Good shit.

Keep fighting the good fight everybody.

I wonder how different soft drinks were in the past compared to today’s standard soda. Aside from substituting sugar for High Fructose Corn Syrup. :wtf:

People in the early 1900’s were drinking bottles of coke without the kind of issues we have now, lol. Less sugar content? Was it just better eating habits?

  • whatever it is, the old way of making soft drinks seems to be the best.

Hella-iffy chemicals like sugar substitutes weren’t real things yet, so that’s DEFINITELY a factor.

Also, what the hell, might as well!

Spoiler

Slouched like a motherfucker, it looks FAR worse than it actually is for these. and hella blurry because
I took iffy shots/bad settings lol.

(thanks for the gahlike format @blueleon lol)
Weight: ~330+ lbs(haven’t used a scale in a while, but I’ve kept roughly the same!)
Height: 5’11
Age: 22, 23 in 5 days.
Goal: Have ~10% adipose tissue instead of ~30%.
Weakness: Fairly iffy eating habits even though I know better every time, lack of commitment if it’s tedious exercise(Krav Maga and other purely applied self-defense stuff are things I’d do for their own sake though!)
Story: People ALWAYS assume I’m mostly lard. I’m not, but this will drive my point home.
Plan: More protein, smaller portions, leave my house at all and we good LOL
Easy enough!

Not sure if Coke had actual cocaine in it, when all the sodas were better than the stuff out now, but if so, probably helped keep people from gaining weight?

After skimming this, I guess cocaine in Coke was before my father’s time so I’m going to guess that it has to be the fructose syrup stuff that ruined soda’s quality. I remember when Gatorade was in glass bottles and the taste was really good until they went with plastic bottles.

lol that might explain my addiction to mexican cokes. they actually taste alot better than american cokes but ive been told it was because they use natural sugar in the mexican factories. i think its the hormones and preservatives in food that cause people to gain weight more than anything else. i’ve noticed my most rapid weight changes came on when i cut those sort of foods out of my diet

Dagnabit, y’all stop that nonsense and eat some real food!

Stayed about the same, but hope will that’ll change after this semester is over. I hate having to eat at the campus because it just quicker/easier than driving back home. Do have pics of what I make at home.

Edit: Sorry I didn’t check in sooner, my mind was elsewhere. Death in the family and just trying to keep up with school/work.

That’s why organic is such a big thing. People want to dismiss it as hippy stuff, but the people talking that type of crap are always fat and ugly. It’s more expensive, but this is your body and health we’re talking about, if it’s the one thing you do spend money on it should be food and shelter. Everything else comes second.

Also when you’re in shape, pretty much everything looks good on you clothing wise. You can buy stuff at Walmart but if you look like you just stepped out of a fitness challenge nobody is even going to notice the clothes, that goes for both sexes.

It’s not just food btw. The drugs doctors use to make people “healthy” usually do the very opposite. Pharmaceuticals should always be a very last resort, in most cases there is a natural alternative that would work just as well.

Tap water also has a lot of chemicals in it.

I’ve been drinking mostly spring water, avoiding processed foods, and I haven’t needed a doctor for well over a decade. I might need one soon only because I overworked myself and let myself get fat. But if you can just avoid that, you should be good pretty much your entire life.

Doctors actually claimed exercise was bad for you, and weight lifting would make you a muscle bound oaf with no sex drive and you’d get a heart attack doing it.

You guys should look up Jack LaLanne, the man was way ahead of his time. He lived to like 96. Life on his own terms. He finally needed a doctor at 96, I’d say that is a good run.

Nowadays more and more people are catching onto the big American scam with high fructose corn syrup and the unhealthy diets and weird exercise rules. I wonder if this country will clean up within 10 years. The big problem right now is getting stuck at a job with too much stress and too many work hours, so that you can’t work out or eat healthy. I wonder at what point Americans will just say “fuck you” to consumerism and debt and then just refuse to play along to put themselves in that situation, and then how the elite will react.

When I realise I start being lazy, I do two things:

  • Start scheduling workouts into my planner (complete with reminders and alarm)
  • Begin telling people “Hey let’s go swimming/running/gymming tomorrow” so that there’s pressure on both of us to show up and do it

Works for me at least. I was out with friends till 6am two days ago and woke up at 8am cause I promised my swim buddy I’d show up.

Weekly update

Spoiler

Diet has been slighty better, however i slipped 2 days with dat coke and pizza, no worries.

As for excersicing, I did HIIT 5/7 days, much better, however I only went out for a run once. I did, however look into, and start doing ddp Yoga. Only did one video,and this is gonna be my first week of trying to force myself to do it in the morning. I have a hard time working out in the morning, or ill just do it after HIIT…However, I already do HIIT at 9-10 pm, and if I do this, I won’t finish till late…Or work out earliers, but with summer heat already existing in L.A, I hate working out in hot weather…

Chest 42 -> 41 3/4
Biceps stayed the same at 14 3/4
Waist stayed at 42 1/2
Hips 41 1/2 -> 41 1/4
Thighs 26 -> 25 1/4

However, I a lot of carbs the day before, and I have a slight intolerance to certain sugars…i.e potatoes and sugar alcohol…And those make me bloat up like a fucking whale…So whatever, ill see next week if it was my lack of work, or it was the bloating…

this thread is really inspirational, the closet ive came to all this good work is listening to a rocky montage. Keep up the good work fellas

So it’s been a month since I first took a photo and I’ve already noticed a little bit of a difference. I got to go to the beach and decided it was a good time to take a photo and post an update:

As you can see, I still have a long way to go, but I’m making progress. When the next check-in time arrives I’ll post another update. I’ll be back!

well it’s that time again.

Spoiler

Only worked out 3 out of the 7 days, but each days was at least over 1 1/2 hours of excersice. HIIT workouts, followed by DDP Yoga. that Yoga stuff is pretty neat, lower back is feeling great. As for diet, it’s been well, except for breakfast on the weekend, and pizza on sunday. My mom loves this place so we took her. Although, I usually eat a lot, I ate less than I usually do, way less. So it wasn’t that bad.

I went on a trail this Sunday morning, Santa Anita Big Canyon Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains. It was fun and cool, a big change of pace. I only did 1 1/2 miles of the trial since I had my brothers, and took my mom to see the wilderness. She’s been wanting to see around her for a while, so I took her. It wasn’t bad, but going back up the trial was pretty intense. Half a mile of hiking on 30-40 degree slope in the sun.

Chest 41.75 -> 41.25 inches
Biceps 14.75 -> 14.75 stayed
waist 42.50 -> 42 Inches
Hips 41.25 - > 41.00 Inches
Thighs oddly enough 25.25 -> 24.25 inches must be something wrong, but I did measuer from the same spot. oh well.

It’s been 5 weeks I believe, or only 4? doesn’t matter
