Weight: 240.1 lbs - 108.9 kg
Height: 1.76 m - 5’ 9’'
Age: 31
Goal: I want to lose the 40 lbs of overweight that i have (yes, when i am thin i weight 200+ lbs), at the same time i want to add more muscle mass
Weakness: While i usually eat healthy during the week days, on weekends i tend to eat whatever i find on the fridge, and if i am lazy to cook i tend to buy chinese food or burgers
Story: Well, i have a fatty liver due the unhealthy way of eating those last years that i am living on El Salvador, so i need to change my habits and start losing weight if i want to avoid needing drugs for it or worse end with more serious liver problems. Because of that i moved to a bigger apartment with a kitchen so i can cook my own food and control what i eat and started going to the gym all week days with a friend.
Plan: Eat healthy and do exercises , 1 hour of cardio and 1 hour of weight lifting 5 days per week
^ What city do you live in? When I went to El Salvador I stayed in Popotlan (I think that’s you how spell it?)
I’m going to give this a shot:

Goals: Quit smoking tobacco and herb, gain a little weight, work on my core and lower body strength, fill out but keep myself tone yet not frail. Also be able to do motorcycle track sessions with out feeling winded out after each session(20 minutes riding the track per session).
Weaknesses: herb, laziness/discipline , time management
Story: Been super lazy over last fall all the way through spring of this year, was nursing an injured leg(fractured tibia and turn ACL) and stopped doing rehab on it a while back. I use to weight 160 lbs when I got out of the military, but slowly over the years, went back to almost the same weight as I was in highschool!
Plan: Try to quit smoking both substances around the same time, use my free time to start exercising but will most likely use a bicycle at first to see how my leg holds up and then move on to more intense work out with Army P.T. regiment in mind.[/details]
ill post pics tommorrow
I live on the capital, San Salvador
So I met with the trainer at the gym yesterday to get some pointers and come up with a plan. Apparently, I need to do core exercises and start lifting free weights with a healthy dose of cardio thrown in. That’s all fine and good, but, hahaha, then that bitch told me I had to stop eating pizza! LMFAOOOO! So I went home after the gym and ordered a pizza and ate the whole thing. It was sort of a last meal/fuck-you-trainer type thing.
I guess my diet starts today. Fuck, this is gonna suck. Just had granola for breakfast.
I think everyone should get a last big meal before diet starts pass this weekend…lol
I really want to destroy two chicken quesadilla’s or some overstuffed lasgana from these local mom n pop spots in my area one last time…
Even though a diet is important, I feel like having a cheat meal once in a while is important as well just so you’re not completely depriving yourself of the things you like. I’m actually planning on getting a pizza this weekend but I’ve been on a strict diet for almost 6 weeks now so i think i deserve it.
yeah I think if you limit yourself TOO much you will eventually snap and go beserk on a whole tub of ice cream or all you can eat joint. I think if you do plan a cheat day then cheat one day out of the week but don’t go overlimit TOO much.
for example if I did a cheat day on a saturday but stuck to the strict diet the other six days I would have my cheat meal BUT I wouldnt go overboard; like im trying to cut out breads so maybe that staurday I would get a footlong sub but still workout that day
I remember the first SRK Fitness challenge awhile back…I think i lost about 35lb or mores, competition really gets you going, trying to get the best results among your peers.
Goodluck everyone!
Totally true, having something that you like once in a while helps you keep with a high moral, otherwise you get burned out of only eating healthy (not saying that you can’t have healthy food that is also delicious )
What i am actually doing is that i am counting the calories of what i eat so i maintain a lose ratio for what i eat and what i expend on the day.
Also, i for those interested, on breakfast you can vary what you eat and keep it interesting, do some fruit shakes and stuff like that, and mid morning you can eat some fruit or have some fruit juice.
Another thing that it has been helping me those days is that i eat something high on proteins and that is easy to absorb for the body after the 1st ten minutes of the workout to force my body to build up muscule mass and strenght more quickly, tuna on water in my case since i don’t really like to eat only the biled egg albumen.
What helped me the most (240 > 185) was logging my food on myfitnesspal.com
It’s very difficult to control what you eat if you don’t know how much you’re eating.
Edit: Also, good luck guys!
I’ll also vouch for Myfitnesspal.com . It’s a very straightforward app that helped me log and get a realistic overview of calories consumed vs calories spent, whether I’m on track for basic goals etc.
It’s not going to be a very scientific analysis, but just having the app on your android/ios/blackberry can be very helpful to ensure that you’re not veering too far off of your targets, and it’s all free.
I feel that it helped me quite a bit when I dropped from about 300lbs to 200lbs a few years ago.
Not participating but wanted to wish everyone good luck.
When I was in basic training for the Army, our meals were super strict(take the main course, but only 1 scoop of a side dish, absolutely no deserts or condiments even though they were there but only as baits for more intense personal training, unless you can ninja sneak them in with out a drill sergeant knowing ) and the only thing to wash it down was water. Even milk and juice was off limits as we were told all it would do was to sit in our stomachs and not help us when we were training. By the time we all graduated, half of us looked like Ghandi, and the larger dudes slimmed down a ton. Considering a good part of all of this is what you eat, maybe you guys should only cheat on not a weekly basis but only on milestones. That way it makes it even more worth while to enjoy what ever you want, but it also instills the discipline on your longtime goals. Don’t have to take any of this as sound advice, we are all grown ass men, just a suggestion based of what I went through in the past.
My other weakness is going out too often and being too lazy to cook my own food. Not that I suck at cooking, but considering the prep work, and the cleaning afterwards, it’s really hard for me to keep that up consistently. But I know that eating out daily is bad for my health and need to work on being motivated to cook my own food amongst other things.
also, do cheat MEALS and not cheat DAYS. If you do a full cheat day you’re gonna set yourself back by like a week.
Sorry for not posting my info yet promise to post it tomorrow.

Height:6’02
Weight:235
Age:23
Goals: Lose at least 25 pounds, while maximizing strength gains. I want to be able to be functional in strength.
Story: Been a fatty for ever. As a youngling, i wasn’t obese, but overweight by about 10-15 pounds…After High School I balloned to almost 300 over the course of 4 years. As of last year I’ve been losing weight, and I’m now at 235 lbs.
Plan: Really push my self for the 3 months. Mornings wake up, jump rope to warm up and go run in the morning. At night do a split of high intensity interval training followed by a plyometric/weight split, or mile run. On weekends, go to LA forest and hike, or bike to the beach from where I live, or move a total of 5km.
Weakness: Appetite…my appetite is massive, and I have a weakness for coke. I should have been way fatter than I was as a kid or at whale weight. Eating out isn’t much of an issue, since most fast food joints are starting to make me feel like shit, and I can cook at home a large variety of meals, so i’m never bored. I find that if I exercise and don’t eat enough, i feel fatiged and incapable of working out. Granted, i’m not starving myself neither. I guess I’ll just have to make sure I eat enough, and cut coke completely. That’s where the majority of extra calories come in since I can drink 20+ oz of coke easy a day. But I have started replacing all drinks with water, and i’m already feeling better.
