SRK 2014 fitness challenge -Season 2 starts on Page 7 Bread is bad....right?

I actually just joined a gym last week so this would be good for me. I’m in. But I may need some instructions on how to post a picture without having to link through Facebook.

I’ll take part in this. I had lost a lot of weight a few years ago but I’ve gained most of it back :/. Now I can’t wear a lot of my favorite shirts cuz’ my love handles stick out too much :(.

Shadow, sign me up. I’m trying to lose some weight & gain some muscles. Even better that I have Spring Break next week.

I think I’m going to sign-up. My weight’s not an issue (my BMI is 20.9, 5’9", 64 kg…too lazy to convert the kg into lbs, and all I have are metric scales over here), but my physical conditioning is out of whack.

So my goals would be:

  1. Be able to play Basketball or run or whatever without feeling like I’m about to have a heart attack.
  2. Get somewhat tone. I’ve always been skinny, but never been tone. Not even sure how to go about it from my situation, so maybe my before/after pictures will give people some way to advise me.

Weakness ; Bread, Sauces, Cereal.

Story: -Well its a long road but I finally decided to stop bsing and get serious (terry lol) about this, I am getting older and I need to take of my body so it can take can of me when I get older. I don’t have diabetes or high blood pressure thank God but the weight is something that has to go, one less stress to worry about in life. Bread is something that has always plagued me; I love sandwiches and I can take down a whole loaf in two days. Sauces man I can do a whole bottle of dressing in like two days too, I drench stuff like salad chicken fingers etc. in it which really a tablespoon is all that is needed. Cereal I will smash a box of two days or even one utilizing a salad bowl and half a gallon of milk. So I decided one day to myself “why?, I am eating like this?” Im not sad or depressed but it was out of boredom.

Plan- learn more about portion sizes, strict water, no juices,sodas, and bread, starches I will eat but I will portion control it. Work out five times a week for at least an hour or more…more raw veggies,fish, and fruits.

Goals: Lose an additional 8-10lbs by mid-May. I’m gonna be on the beach a lot this summer and i wanna look good.
Weaknesses: Twizzlers, Potato Chips, Taco Bell
What made me want to start losing weight: I was a fat kid in middle school and i got teased a lot so by my freshman year of high school I said enough of this shit and started to slowly change my life around. I was nowhere as serious as I am now but i kept making steady improvements every year. Plus I always wanted to be one of those guys who got all the girls cause i had a godlike body. My brain aint attracting these hoes so i gotta highlight my attributes ya know?[/details]

Weight: ~170 lbs.
Height: 5’ 10"
Age: 26
Goal: I want to lose the fat that’s around my chest and core area and develop strength.
Weakness: My biggest weakness is my diet. I’m pretty much living on fast food and I need to change that.
Story: Basically I’m realizing that I’m not going to be young forever, so I want to be able to enjoy the feeling of having a healthy young body while I’m still able to.
Plan: Do a modified 5x5 body workout based on starting strength. I bought a 100 lbs barbell set so I’ll be using that. I’ll also have to learn how to cook and eat healthier. I’ll be having a veggie smoothie before each workout. I’m going to learn how to cook grilled chicken, fish, and carne asada.
My workout will consist of:
Squats, overhead press, rows, push-ups, and situps 3 times a week.
Sprints and stretches 3 times a week.

Goal: Stay around same weight 75kg max, I care more about functionality I want to become more explosive and powerful strength wise than having a six pack by summer.

Weakness: skipping breakfast, pigging out at dinner (balanced dinner but I eat a lot at this time), majority of the day spent working infront of a computer screen from 09:00am till about 00:00am, not getting much sleep.

Story: Mesomorph, used to be a very active growing up, was on the football team, basketball team, did martial arts, boxing and fencing. Stopped training seriously in my late 20s due to achilles and ankle injury, hip issue and tendon damage in my thumbs. Feel as though I’m healthy again to get back into training.

Plan: Focus on plyometric exercises to burn fat and get my fitness levels up quickly. Running/Skipping everyday, flexibility, squats, pushups, chin ups, crunches, before moving onto weight training and martial arts again[/details]

Weakness: Street Fighter, Donkey Kong, Ben and Jerry’s, Coke (cola variety), Coffee

Story: I quit drinking 14 months ago and I weighed 210 lbs and had high BP. In 4 months I was down to 175 lbs just by removing alcohol from my diet, and my BP is back to normal. I have gained some of the weight back by replacing alcoholic beverages with Coca-Cola, and I have developed a sweet tooth in the absence of drinking. I also replaced smoking cigarettes with vaping. While I definitely feel healthier than I did a year ago, I can definitely use some work.

Plan: I just signed up for a gym membership with my girlfriend, so we can hold each other accountable, and I meet with a trainer this afternoon to come up with a plan. The gym I joined has a pool and I’d like to incorporate swimming into my exercise routine. I also know that diet is like 70 percent of weight loss, so I need to cut back on the soda and ice cream :frowning:
I also need to cut back on video games, but this will happen automatically with going to the gym. My Balrog skills will suffer, but it will be worth it in the long run.[/details]

Story:I started some thing similiar last year around this time. Was walking and slowly transitioned to jogging as i built my stamina. I was doing pretty good i managed to slim 15 pounds in about 2 months

But soon after i moved back to dfw area and out of my parents house and i fell off track. I gained everything back in the course of the year. So know im hoping i can fall back on track and lose the weight i want! I was one of those people who never tought i need to work out and i was happy how i was. but the experience i gained last year made me feel even better about myself and got alot of positive responses from friends and family!

Plan: My plan is to cut off all the junk, try to eat more healthy try to cook my own meals. I have to start over on my cardio because yesterday i went for a jog i could barely jog for a minute :(. For the next 2 weeks i plan on walking home from work its about 2 miles away from where i live. So i can build a little stamine and slowly transition back to jogging. After that i hope i can start hitting the weights! My goal is to shed around 30 lbs in 3-4 months!
