If they gonna waste all the resources on a remake, they might as well make a new game… or rehaul the whole engine. Not gonna sit there and play old school turn-based with today’s graphics.
If they can’t handle that what reaction do they have to FF: tactics pacing? The amount of strategy that can come into play with turn-based games is great… compare that to shit like ff13’s battle system…
Gonna keep it real; FFV is one of my favorites and the only reason I ever actually ended up playing that one is because the translated patch at the time had the hero’s name as BUTZ. I simply could not resist.
People wanting an FFVII remake aren’t playing the long game. Think ahead.
Front Mission, Xenogears, the original Mana/Seiken Densetsu franchise were all awesome. I don’t see another Front Mission coming out, though, because of FM5. A return to the Mana series roots would be SUPER sweet; even if they didn’t want to put the brain power behind an all new Mana game, I’d buy a remix pack (actually redone, not just porting the games) consisting of Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3 and Heroes of Mana. Still playing through Xenogears myself, so I don’t have an opinion on what a new game like it or following it up would be like.
That’s what’s funny about Square and scrub-ass Capcom and Konami… These niggas got a vault full of beloved and underdeveloped IPs that they ignore in favor of churning out the same old shit year after year.
Square has no excuse considering they have western help in the form of Eidos and Crystal Dynamics that they’ve rarely tapped into.
Ergheiz.
Einhander.
Tobal.
The World Ends With You.
Legacy of Kain.
Vagrant Story.
Deus Ex.
Dragon Quest.
Act-Raiser.
Mana Series.
FF Tactics.
Ogre Battle.
Parasite Eve.
Bushido Blade.
…and that’s just the shit I could think of off the top of my head… Instead of making 18 games with starring fucking Lightning, bring one of these back into the limelight.
Hell, make a damn cross-over game featuring all of the great characters you fuckers are ignoring.
lol, guess you missed the past on the front page where someone was saying “OGRE. FUCKING. BATTLE.”
I found it funny that SF4 was listed as a game you could be currently playing, but fighting games wasn’t a genre listed (pretty nuts).
I then pretty much tried to make all my answers point to Chrono Trigger 2. And then in that little note told them to make Chrono Trigger 2. Also said that FFXI was a great MMO, FFXIV 1.0 was a great idea executed poorly, and FFXIV 2.0 is a poor idea executed well.
Also while I think they should make some kind of Chrono Trigger 2 (imagine the sales and how much better SE would be as a company if they made it) not sure they really can make it. Definitely not a direct sequel, by this point. We don’t want SNES graphics, I’d like flashy new graphics. In a way I’d like a better Chrono Cross (I.E. a game I could manage to play through to the end). Good story, same game world, cameos from the original cast. Or a spiritual successor. But I thought the original story was pretty complete, I’d like a new story in the same vein.
Also for a real Chrono Trigger 2 I’m not sure SE could really live up to expectations.
Actraiser? Shit for some reason as a kid I recorded on vhs me fighting the last boss. Another great game there for real. The town building thing was great too. Sim City + Action RPG.
