The SE doesn’t come stock with a square gate?
You’ll get it back quickly if you play a lot.

I agree with the 3 bar thing. I’ve been way too used to 3 bar viper play that when I started playing Offline in my first tournament, I wasn’t as good as I thought I would play. I need more practice offline.
I switched out the square gate when I first got my SE stick. But since replacing the stock stick to a JLF it has a square gate on it.
yooo guys, this is pasted from my post in the Chun forums;
I finally got and practiced on my TE stick, I no longer suck on Japanese joysticks.
Once the learning curve was finished, I was hitting Viper’s shit wayyyy more consistent than ever before. Definitely worth 150, glad I was able to cop it at that price. Freakin’ steal.
My favorite part about it is the buttons. They feel like gel when you push them down. It’s like they have laser sensors, and all I have to do is think what I want to do and the move comes out. Shits crazy.
Every Viper player needs to be playing on this, if not…they’re DEFINITELY holding themselves back. At least a custom stick with all Sanwa parts is just as good. I just think the weight of the TE stick makes it perfect.
I’m using my TE stick, I still need to work on Offline play, I’m so used to Online play and bad habits from there.
That’s awesome magman. Welcome to the club! BTW my custom stick with all Sanwa parts is probably heavier than that TE.
Ive got one :china: the only thing about the button sensitivity though is sometimes I get relaxed and when I try to hit a punch, ill get grab, focus, or taunt because the middle of my finger brushed against the kick button lol
So guys, ARCH your fingers when you play
I’m using an SE with all Sanwa parts and a octagon gate. I tried square gate but I’m just too lazy to try to get good at it. I was almost instantly better when I put in my octagon gate. Which was like 2 weeks after I got my SE, which is the first stick I’ve ever used. I also immediately put the Sanwa parts in it.
the more i watch Viper being used, whether in Japan, North America or whatever, the more i feel she can deal with ANYTHING being thrown at her, and really dictate the match in her favour. yes even vs gief, honda, blanka and dic.
Yeah, that’s why I like Viper. She completely ignores every other character’s gameplan and forces them to play by her’s.
Lol, I wouldn’t go that far.
Honda, Blanka, Bison, and Zangeif would like to have a word with you.
Is it me, or after playing Viper for a while you just can’t play with anyone else?
I don’t mean because Viper is more fun to use or anything like that, I feel like my moves with ANY Shoto are super sloppy now. I use to main Akuma, and my combos were so perfect I would surprise myself, now I’m lucky if I can land a regular BnB.
I have no problem with chargers though, my Boxer & Dict are still the same, but my shotos took a HUGE step back.
Ya I don’t care how good you are, a good Zangief or Honda can make you pull your hair out.
if you played that match again FT 5 I would bet* on you without a 2nd thought.
my only problem when i go to other characters is I have a tendency to try and superjump. Otherwise I can still rock out basic combos with every character. 3-4 hitters no problems.
I’m having the same issue too. When I play as Ryu sometimes, I press :3p: after every special move out of habit from feinting with Viper. It’s quite sad really…
lol, 20 out of 24 isnt bad, y’know
So true…so so true…
My version of SFIV only has C.Viper.
I think a lot of the other SF characters (at least in this game) are rather boring. I was never a big fan of much of the world warrior characters. I like to play a lot of different SF games but I’m very picky about who I like playing as in each game. SF3 is probably the only series where most of the characters I actually like as far as just being characters. I do like some of the Alpha characters like Guy and Rose but I only liked Rose in A2. Every other game she’s been weak/boring.
Like Guile is actually kinda fun for me in Super Turbo but I think SFIV’s hardcore damage scaling makes him feel unnecessarily weak. Sonic booms do zero damage and his Ultra was designed as a low damage “get off me” move.
