Yeah unless you have competent people to play against offline there’s no point in trying to consistently do FFF consistently. Hell…ComboFiend won SBO quals with little experience on Japanese sticks and literally no use of FFF’s or insta burn kicks or several other of the advanced things Viper has.
i dont have anybody close to me to train with
i will take that combo fiend story and use it as inspiration! Win with pretty much the basics! As a matter of fact, thats how i planned my viper training. Its been almost 4 weeks since i started playing with her and i only now started to dig deeper into the advanced tactics
I just want to see myself use FFF in a battle. It will definitely help me develop a comfort zone with the combo
I recently began seriously playing Viper about a month ago. First 2 weeks were brutal, but I went on a week where I was actually winning consistent matches. This past week has been even more brutal though, I feel like I kinda hit a stump with what to do next with her, and I get the feeling my habits are getting predictable. It’s a ridiculous grind to even get past to a semi-final match and I’m close to pulling my hair out after every session haha. Anybody willing to help me out and spar a couple matches? I’m extremely determined to get her even better but I feel like I’m at a point where I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing wrong.
wait, quick noob question on Viper lingo: what is FFF? feints into other normal attacks?
Fierce feint fierce. Basically standing or low fierce, fierce tk fient, another low fierce. Another useful one is fierce, feint, low forward when out of low fierce range.
Or FFF xx Mp.TK when you don’t have meter for U-MAD!!
lol, my PSN got screwed by my dad so I had to do something to get it online and I’m back XD.
Dashio is a genious! Seriously, Thunder Knuckle Fient into Seismo Hammer is amazing, granted you have to input it fast as hell. :qcb: :lp:/:mp:/:hp: :df: :lp:/:mp:/:hp:
I seem to have randomly lost my FFF touch I need new tips for doing it now for both standing and crouching.
I just need to reperfect my FFFs and my Mix Spam (I’m getting awesome at this XD but it pisses me off.) then i’ll be able to dictate the match like dashio does.
Just as a quick question. SFIV is my first fighting game, and I picked Viper after falling in love with her after watching a tournament. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. I’ve put in a lot of work into getting better with her and results have definitely yielded, however not as fast as I’d like. My question is, since SFIV is my first fighting game, should I switch to a non-technical character like Akuma or Ryu to learn the basics of a fighting game before trying to move further with Viper?
i started with viper and though it has taken me ALOT of time to learn, im glad i started with her because my execution is really good because viper is so execution heavy, viper isnt for everyone ppl seem to think that in a week they should be decent, thats far from logical thinking, i got sf4 the day it was released on console and i started playing viper 2 weeks after that, and i play ALOT and im still not where i want to be ive played some old school players and though i win some games i feel like i need to be able to destroy them even though they have been around longer then me, that is my motivation when playing and you have to have motivation when learning viper because she will break you mentally just trying to learn her. and alot of new viper players dont understand that when they pick her, shes not ryu where you can be solid pretty easily, viper will crush the weak but those who stick with it are rewarded, it fill great landing that FFF in a match for the first time, after you have put in so much time learning it.
yea man listen to Mortis.
Fuck Shoto. Viper FTW.
I’m about a month and a half into Viper (didn’t start playing SFIV serious until about 3 months ago,) and she has raped me terribly. She is an absolute exhaustion in every way, I went on like a 300 game losing streak before starting to win consistently with her.
Just remember that every single fight with Viper is an uphill battle very much against your favor, the trick is, making it look easy.
Oh yea, I’ve been playing Viper for about 4 months now, this hasn’t been a 2 week thing at all
Yeah, but the damage on those is ugly. It almost seems like a waste of an ultra.
Haha, I think one of my big problems as well is that I don’t understand how to apply the advanced techniques. I go into a fight and try to use some of the basic combos and tricks I know. Every time I try to feint I just end up getting owned by an assault, no one falls for it. In addition, I don’t fully understand how to cross up, especially on opponents I’ve just knocked down. The best I can do is j.HK -> j.h.BK.
Viper isn’t the best character to start trying to cross-up with seeing as her RH cross-up is pretty difficult to confirm for someone not familiar with cross-ups, and it’s really un-reliable, but they’re all about spacing and timing.
Start with her Forward/MK cross-up and move up to RH, you wont be able to FFF of it, but just about any mp.TK BNB will work off it.
TK Feint during block strings for mix-ups, and Seismo feint @ full screen for bait, if you’re not comfy with it yet, then of course don’t try and do Fierce Feint xx Seismo Feint xx EX Seismo.
BTW, mind games don’t work on scrubs and even on most amateur players, so whether the Seismo you just feinted was gonna come out or not, they were still gonna do j.RH > c.RH because it’s the most godly combo in SF4.
lol omg
i been playing nothing but MvC2 all day (determined to understand the engine). So when i popped in SF4 and went into training…i was totally lost. Forget FFF i cant do it worth a damn anymore. Also, when i jumped online…not only did it take 20mins to get a match going (people kept leaving their rooms or kicking me) but the freaking game was lagging like crazy :annoy:
EDIT: yes i’m weird like that
Alright, I’m gonna admit, since I don’t post on these forums often I don’t know half of what you said However, if by Forward/MK cross-up you mean :qcb::uf::k: I’ve attempted to do that for like half an hour in practice mode one time and could never get it to come out, no matter how fast I input it
i dont think thats what he means, i think what he means is crossing up with a middle kick, he never mentioned crossing up with a mk bk, and then doing a basic bnb attack, and to do a instant bk crossup its not so much the speed you input it but more the smoothness not to fast and not to slow, half an hour is nothing in training mode you should spend atleast 1 hour trying to learn her moves, also you dont have to post in the form to lurk and read around and gather info so we dont have to explain every little thing like crossing up and such, if you want to get good with viper you have to put in the time, their is no way around that.
Lol why is that so true.
I’s not like I’m trying to avoid anything, I realise I have to put in time with her, if there’s anything I know it’s that and that her learning curve is whooping my ass right now, but I get right back up and try it again. What I meant by not understanding him was all the acronyms. However, to your response, lurking in the forums can only do so much for me. I can read up on the techniques, but I need someone to show me how and when to implore them. Practicing something wrong can only hurt. I sent DevilJin a message on XBL asking for some help but I’m sure he’s a busy guy so I’m not really expecting a response anytime soon.
Is there any practical use for EX TK Feint?
?
