Spy Headquarters : C. Viper General Discussion

That’s the great thing about Evo. You don’t even need to be at Evo to have crazy good times. I was at LAX Friday night too.

Sucks you went through that really complicated situation. You should have just talked to Mr.Wiz or one of the Cannons about your problem and they probably would have gotten that scrub off of the brackets.

So how was Evo overall? Wish I could go anytime before (maybe) 2011.

I was @ LAX Thurs. Night from like 11-3. Definitely had some good times in there. We were already staying @ Luxor so we had those complimentary passes, but none of us were 21 (all 3 of us are 20 :arazz:) but luckily enough our neighbors who were some chicks from Jersey were nice enough to get us in and buy us all of our drinks.

We tried getting into Pure on Friday night, but that shit was just NOT happening

It was my 4th or 5th time in Vegas, but only my 2nd time alone, and my 1st time getting into the clubs and getting fucked up so it was great.

Yard Longs FTW!!!

That sucks, I was rooting for you, but it sounds like you just had bad luck. Well, doesn’t matter, you’ll get 'em next time!

I’d love to make it to EVO sometime… but maybe when I feel a bit more comfortable with the joystick and more offline competition.

Missile off.

Pool 4

I also lost to a Vega in my bracket in the “finals” of my pool (a.k.a. I would have qualified if I beat him). He was good + not a lot of good Vega experience = fail.

Then I ran into Gootecks in the Loser’s bracket with Balrog.

I dislike Balrog.

I did my best to rep Viper, though, so all is well.

Good stuff Lone Dragon! And nobody likes Balrog, lol.

Still have some way to go with Viper unfortunately. I still miss a lot of opportunities for maximising damage. Another thing I’ve noticed is that when I land a throw with my back to the corner, I never do a back throw to swap my position around, which would put them in the corner and set me up for a corner combo. Little things like positioning and spacing are what I need to work on. Plus my execution.

Took 3rd at a small local tourney with my Viper! I only switched to Ryu once when I played a Honda player. There’s no way I’m sticking with Viper against a Honda. If I had my own stick and wasn’t using a shitty Hori I think I def would have been in the grand finals.

Congrats on third place!

I’ve neglected my zoning game for pure offense, which isn’t the way to go. I’m going to start working on my zoning game again.

How consistent are you guys with cr.f > sjc > ultra?

To be honest, I’m not very consistent with it in matches. When practicing it, I’m consistent but during matches, I tend to mess it up a lot.

Thanks! I think my least favorite match in the game is Balrog.

I think I hate him even more than Honda.

Does anyone actually use this in real fights? It kills the damage of the ultra (depending on how charged your meter is), and if you have time to do a crouch fierce, you usually have time to just do ultra. So, I never really use it…

Plus, it whiffs on Gief whenever I’ve tried it.

Just because I’m a robot I can do c.HP to Ultra pretty consistent. Its not that hard with practice on a good stick. Actually I prefer to do c.MP or c.MK to Ultra since like mentioned above…c.HP pushes some characters back pretty far and makes it difficult to stay in range for the Ultra.

I should’ve just put normal > sjc > ultra, but I didn’t know you could cancel various normals into it when I posted that. (Pretty new to Viper.) I too find I can do it pretty consistently in training, but I’ve only landed it once in a match.

Lone Dragon, it’s pretty useful in matches because you can do for example crlk > stlk > crmp > sjc > ultra. That’s an ultra off a crlk or a jump in with time to hit confirm and spending no bars. Not that I can do that but y’know.

so guys. I haven’t played SF4 in like 8 days. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME?!

the problem I have with normals sjcd into ultra is there arent many situations when it is practical. Maybe if your midscreen and you dizzy some one or punishing something you can do cr.HP > TK feint > cr.MK > SJC xx ultra.

what situations do you guys use it in I can get it about 85% in training mode but I cant find a real point to do it

edit:

BB maybe?

Oh yeah, that and KoFXII (although none of my friends are very interested in either). I’ll never play them as much or as seriously as SFIV though.

Lol, I read Gus’s post wrong, I thought Gus meant SJC FADC>Ultra, lol. Don’t know why I read it like that, that wasn’t even mentioned. I’m faily consistent with canceling my normals into an SJC’d Ultra but I don’t do it often.

Went to an offline session with my buddies. Very nice to play people you can talk face to face with. Had a right laugh as well. BTW, Alcheymyst captured videos of our Vipers so you guys get to see how much I failed during some matches. I, of course, do not blame it on my lack of skill or adaptibility, I blame it on the lag from his TV monitor, lol.

pfft, i dont know why i even bothered training FFF so much when every online game i have been in is laggy. it competely throws me off my rhythm
