Because it’s gonna take time to get used to BB’s mechanics.
This.
I saw a Joe Viper video where he was absolutely ABUSING a Sagat with crazy long block strings that all were Fierce Feinted, ever since then, I’ve only been able to do multiple Fierce Feints right after one another with negative edging, especially if I’m trying to throw down c.MK > Mp.TK pressure games.
Also, for your 2nd FP > EX Seismo, you guys do know you only have to do it as so:
3cr.FP > (RtN)3.MP+FP
So hold the stick @ 3 (1) for your 2nd FP of FFF, return to neutral, and slap back down to 3 (1) with MP+FP.
That really helped me with confirming my 2nd FP, because even though my stick execution is super fast, I sometimes couldn’t get my EX Seismo out after confirming my 2nd FP, I feel i would wait too long to start the Seismo after confirming, so this way was MUCH quicker.
The problem I have with negative edging my FFF is that I never seem to get the feint off in time since the HP tk seems to be much less forgiving.
I fought Arturo this past weekend.
Was fun. His Ryu was pretty even with my Viper (until the tournament started and we had to stop after some close fights).
His Dhalsim destroyed me in casuals at a friends house shortly after.
For some reason I go retarded when I play Dhalsims…I think I need to use more lk.burning kicks and just avoid jumping a lot more.
Hmm…
I’m having an off day today when it comes to Viper. I am missing my ultras and screwing up normal BnB combos. I guess I should just take a break for a while xD
Anyone else ever have terribly off days?
I always have off days… just gotta take a break when you do have that, lol.
yeah man i was on like a 10 game losing streak where my execution was absolutely rubbish. i finally got in 3 wins on monday and called it a night.
So I started to put the Joe setups into my game today.
I would have never thought how good those are in what they do and what they are used for.
I’ll say that it’s helped my game a bunch from just learning em.
Bash me for being a noob but…
Joe setups?
Joe Viper. YouTube him.
IMO he was the very first Viper to really go for the flash, pulling out insanely complicated combos and Fierce Feinting anything like butter. Before him I had never seen a Viper do those crazy ass corner FFF combos with 3 extra feints just because.
Yeah Joe is probably the most entertaining viper for me.
When you’re off with Viper, you’re really off. I think it’s because she demands so much more… especially with execution and originality. If you have neither, you will get owned all day. If you are just reacting to the opponent all the time with no thoughts of setting up, or if you are noticing you are doing too many patterns, it’s time to take a break.
Just a day off or even up to a week is fine. Go outside and smell the flowers.
Right now there isn’t much of a tournament or arcade scene where I am so I’m restricted to mostly online play, and one of the things that regularly gives me problem are throw mashers.
Is there any effective counter or combo I can use to punish, or is teching my only option?
If you’re talking throw mashes as in people are trying to constantly throw you over and over you have some tools. The best thing to do is just crouch block and try and tech the throw but if your timing isn’t good there’s some other options.
You can simply do a grounded LK burn kick since that takes you off the ground instantly and is pretty much Viper’s anti throw attack. You can also backdash or jump straight up and then punish. You can time an EX seismo or EX seismo feint right before they grab you and you’ll hit them if it’s an EX seismo or become invincible to throw if you EX seismo feint. Then punish. You can also stick out something really quick like a close s.MP or a jab to keep them out of throw range and then give yourself room to attack or escape.
Alright, that is what I met, the kids that treat empty jump to throw like a bread and butter combo.
I’ll work on getting it down. Thanks Devil
the worst is those damn kens online, after a hurricane kick they either throw or fp.srk. if you try to tech with a throw you eat a flaming punch for 30% health and if you block you get tosses. I hate it, but it is an effective mixup.
@ Drums:
I usually do an EX BK. If they are off they’re timing at all, they eat it. Hopefully, they stop doing it and start blocking, which then lets me pull out my throws.
Would an Ex Seismo avoid a fp.srk if done at the same time? It’s only 13 frames of invincibility, though…
you can slide and hit hurricane kicks. Viper’s a lot easier to get moves confused with lag or a poor controller.
I dont think it will go straight through the seismo. Kens srk seems pretty slow. I maybe wrong though.
I get fucked up by that too. Lately Ive been tryin to play more safe with viper though, and now that I think about it, i think a backdash would work (?)
does Ken seriously have + frames on a blocked hurricane kick? if not then BK that shit.
Im getting better at the dreaded blanka matchup though. Oh they want electricity on wakeup? f.mp tick throw or f.mp to another f.mp then SJ the fuck back. Oh blanka ball? ex seismo through that shit to SJBK -> corner ultra perhaps?
haha the AA balls fuck me up though.
