I wouldn’t look too much into her focus attack. I don’t see that thing being good at all considering the damage she still takes from absorbing multiple hits and the recoverable damage is red and still requires you to tag her out to recover it. In the demo vid she absorbs berserker claw and takes a shit ton of damage from it whether it was worth it or not is an entirely different thing. Against people who are tri-jumping around her the FA is not going to help.
I think it’s gonna be one of those things where people overuse it, it becomes near-useless, people stop using it, and then out becomes a reasonable, if situational tool again.

I think it depends entirely on how the properties work. If it’s crumple on CH, it may be nice for fishing CH against a rushdown. If it has a reasonable unblockable charge time, it could lead to some pretty nasty okizeme games on a decent amount of characters, especially with some assist coverage.

And yeah if lvl 3 focus is unblockable it won’t be useless. Viper looks like a great trap character with those super fast chipping seismos.

I think everyone is missing the big picture here. Chris Redfield could not go prone in Resident Evil 5. The complete lack of respect for basic game mechanics transitioning into MvC3 is pathetic. I really don’t think her Focus Attack will be useless. If anything I’m thinking we’ll be able to setup some unblockables with it. For example, go for some pressure, call in an assist and while the assist does his move, you charge your focus. But FA has a bit of a long charge time so I’m wondering how viable this will be. Perhaps it is only doable after you kill someone and the other is about to tag in? That was that case with Cashan’s qcf HP in TvC (japanese version only, they lengthened its startup in UAS for this very reason).
