Yeah, Hawkeye’s super is like Magneto’s or Phoenix Wright’s Lv. 3, it’ll hit you wherever you are at on screen if you aren’t blocking.
Curses, meaning dive kicks with trish is out of the question then as well as any form of dash with morrigan. This is a tough one. I’ll have to consult to see how to get around this. How do you guys deal with zoners? I’m thinking for trish using round harvest to push them to a corner then box them in with her traps. Viper, if I guess right with ex thunder knuckle or catch them off guard with ex seismo. Morrigan, I got nothing but using astral vision and spamming fireball with x-factor level 3.
Ugh, why do I always end up liking to use all the lower-tier characters? It’s cosmic.
Sang - If you’re running Trish she’s one of the better zoners in the game. Stay at super jump height, throw out low voltage and keep your traps up. If it’s someone that can hit you with projectiles at that height, then you just have to play a guessing game with them. Don’t forget she has a flight mode as well.
Viper - yeah, it’s all about that ex thunder knuckle. If they begin to hesitate when throwing projectiles then just start airdashing in and begin the mixups.
Morrigan - that’s tough. I’d say probably do a normal jump, fireball down at an angle, then dash behind the fireball. Of course, if you use astral, then it gets much better.
@Warden Any suggestions for being able to safely close distance when playing Doom? My airdash is good, and the foot dives are pretty good, but I have a tendency to land on normals that get me killed a lot…
^ Use his regular jumping H, the green gun. Hop towards them and blast with this until they stop sticking out attacks.
You can also superjump, use photon shot L, and then S down to the ground while the shots cover you. You can also just try a superjump S, it’s really fast and good in this game. You can try airdashing over them and using an M attack, I think they buffed the hitbox a little because it’s pretty easy to get a crossup with this attack now (or maybe I just didn’t try hard enough in vanilla).
Other than that, you should probably focus more on making them come to you as Doom. He’s got plenty of projectiles to beat lots of other characters in a range war.
The best time to go in for the kill is when they’re in the corner, it’s a lot harder to keep Doom out when you’ve got their back to the wall.
Right on, I’ll give that a try. Dr Strange’s Daggers assist and Dormammau Dark Hole have been really great at helping me get cover since the last post. I think I’ve stumbled on a good all-around team finally. Just need to stop dropping Doom Loops.
Can’t wait for tomorrow~! Will be there from noon-1 to about 6, at least. Wanting to play a lot of Marvel and try out some stuff.
I have a new finding on getting around that super that Hawkeye has that is suppose to hit anywhere on the screen. unless this is known already. Apparently if I time it right, I can super right after Hawkeye’s super. If I got some invincibility frames, I can beat his super. I accidently airdashed with morrigan and used the level 3 super just for the hell of it since I thought I was dead but it went through it and hit him with a level 3 super, which was neat. Tried it the second time but with a level 1 dragon punch motion super on morrigan while I was shooting a fireball. It works great. Now Hawkeye’s super isn’t so bad. Just hope you can cancel into something invincible after whatever you are doing.
Can’t wait for the semester to be over. I am in serious need of some game time.
Nice, I’m not sure if any of my characters have invicible supers I could counter with though, I’ll have to test it out.
C. Viper
Burst Time
Changed damage from 480 to 441.
Moved position of hitbox to make the move easier to hook in combos.
Burning Dance
Changed damage from 380 to 410.
Thunder Knuckle
Changed EX version’s startup from 27F to 25F.
Lengthened Viper’s stun by 2F on an EX version hit.
Changed medium version damage from 120 to 110.
Made throw-invincible until first active frame for heavy version.
EX Seismic Hammer
Changed damage from 120 to 100.
Eliminated throw invincibility.
Aerial Burning Kick
Changed normal damage from 100 to 90.
Made follow-ups with Heavy Thunder Knuckle or Burst Time possible after EX version fully hits.
Goddamn it, my wakeup game just got worse lol. Alright guys, time the throw correctly and I can’t do shit lol unless I do an ex burn kick but if blocked, it will leave me at a terrible frame disadvantage. Looks like I got to get better at teching. I don’t see using ex burn kick to ultra being a logical move for damage. It would be way too scaled at that point especially with the ultra nerf. I won’t be using it unless I want to be flashy lol. If the air ex burn kick can be followed up by an ultra anywhere on the screen then it would be one hella air to air utility. I can’t really say much unless I actually play it so most of what I’m saying now is speculations. I’ll have to see what kind of hitbox adjustment they made and test out some throw invincibility on the heavy thunder knuckle and test the ex burn kick to ultra damage. I bet some of you are happy with the ex siemic nerf lol.
Oh yes. Ex-Siezmo nerf makes happy.
Not much in the way of T.Hawk changes, hopefully whatever change they make to his U2 means I’ll actually be able to pull it off when I want to
Serious question this time.
UMVC3 Online Play. I’m having some trouble adjusting to the latency.
For those who play online, are you practicing lag-friendly combos in the training room?
Are there lag-friendly characters?
Is it even a problem for you?
My connection isn’t the best but I managed to find 3 out of 10 games playable. I was able to perform all of my combos fine but I still feel some latency. I play player match more than ranked so I don’t have to keep searching for a good connection. Once I find a someone who doesn’t lag when I fight them, I keep fighting him until he leaves.
Practice lag-friendly combos? Eh, sorta. You can just practice full-on combos in training mode, and then when you’re playing online omit the hard parts.
There are definitely certain characters that are much easier to play offline than on. If it’s crazy rushdown with lots of rapid button presses, stay away. Wesker over Magneto all day online. I probably shouldn’t even use Doom online but I’ve played him way too much at this point.
I do what Sang does, do player matches until you find someone that’s pretty good and you have a good enough connection with. I’ve played with certain guys and it was almost like being in the same room, and I’ve played some where 1 match took over 6 minutes.
Rule #1 for online Marvel - never get salty. If you let yourself get mad then you’re only going to get madder.
Be realistic about your internet capability as well. If you’re sporting a backwoods hillbilly connection like I am, online is just torture. Not to mention that your opponent probably isn’t very appreciative of it either.
It’s for those reasons I avoid online altogether. Kinda sucks, but I like to think I do alright for someone with nothing but the A.I. to practice on
I’m not exactly off to the races with my net. But at a regular 8mbps down and 4.5mbps up, well, I have no trouble with any other game over Live. I’m pretty realistic with my expectations. I expect it to work. UMVC3 is the only additional variable, baring an XBOX update that ruins only this games connection. The net-code just seems…well, worse.
Not bitching. Just looking for tricks to manage the latency. Dropping rushdown characters has been sensible. Had huge fun with Hulk>Sentinel>Nemesis!
Good games yesterday Psychoshot. Ali, I where were you men lol. Just letting you guys know, I can host on Monday nights if no one brought a setup at meta games, though there will only be 1 setup and no one minds driving an additional 20 mins to the apartment.
