oh damn thats abit too far from where I am cab gonna be too expensive :frowning:

I made a post in the joplin thread since where I am is on the way from there hopefully I get some kinda response and can make it out

For the early birds again, I’ll be setting up at meta by 530.

Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday! Our customers really enjoy watching you guys play!

So I am guessing you guys are probably sick of having to drive so far away for your tournaments, so starting in July we are going to do a monthly tournament here at the store. I hope over time it can grow as large as the ones you guys travel for. What I need from you guys is this: what weekend in July is the best (as in, not the weekends that there is another tournament going on in KC or StL etc) How many of you will come? I need whoever is interested in this first one to come into the store by July 1st and register. (if you are from out of town just email me and we can go from there) I would like at LEAST 16 people for this first one. The more the better of course, but 16 is what it will take for us to continue to host these.

If you guys have any information that will help me prepare for a tournament, or questions for me, please email me at thenextlevelmo@yahoo.com and I will reply asap.

Thanks guys! -Fred-

I went ahead and popped in the KC and STL threads to see what dates they have anything planned. Hopefully I can get a quick response and let you know.

I live out of town, so I sent you an email like you asked. I am definitely interested in this; I can’t go to the STL/KC tournaments, so having one here would be killer.

I’d be interested in attending and watching a local tournament, but I doubt I’d be ready to participate before August. If you’re a player short, I’d fill a bracket to help out, but I’d be striving not to embarrass myself.

Still, I’d love to see a local event like this in Springfield. (I know there are events on Monday nights, but I’m unable to attend those.)

A few quick questions I had in mind and others might have in mind as well:
[]Would there be an entry fee? If so, how much?
[
]Which game(s) would be played? I’m guessing SSFIV at least, if not BBCS as well.

What day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) were you planning on? I ask because Sundays are right out for me, but Saturdays can work if I plan ahead.
I’m not asking so much for myself as trying to predict what others may ask. Last Saturday was my first local event and it was clear that I have a lot to learn before I can even keep pace with the regulars. But I’m a social gamer at heart and I’d love to see an event like this succeed.

I didn’t post too many details yet bc I need to get the dates and such finalized first. I can tell you that the first one will be SF4. I am not sure about Sat or Sun yet, bc there have been alot of people complaining about both days so it is still up in the air. (What days are the out of town ones on?) As for the other questions, please email me or come in the store and I can give you all the details.

ok so obviously i need some help with sakura, i thought my strategy was sound but didnt seem to work sigh… anybody got any tips?

I’ll be practicing Ibuki as much as I can. I’ll probably join the tournament if I can actually start winning full matches against everyone else by that time. >_> So here’s to the Training Room! /cheers.

I wasn’t there to see you play, but I used to main Sakura way back in regular SF4, so maybe I can help with a few things. I should be there this weekend if you want to play a few rounds, or if you happen to play on XBox, my gamertag is xSoulBeaver, and I’ll be happy to help there, too; lord knows I could use the practice myself :stuck_out_tongue:

I never really played Sakura, but I can tell you it’s an uphill battle from the very beginning trying to get wins with a mid-low tier character. Mostly what you need to focus on are landing her links into EX hurricane kick, then doing a reset into mixups on your opponent as they land. The problem is it can be hard for her to get in and get her offense started on most of the cast.

Get her vortex going. You were doing wakeup kunai’s right, but when you get a hit go into the lp-mp-hp target combo and end with a neck breaker. You can then start the 50/50 kunai mixup all over again.

Both of these characters are about getting momentum and then never letting it go. The hard part is just getting it started to begin with.

alrite cool i shud be back on xbox live later today so ill send u an invite

I played a bit of sakura and I can tell you, she got some pretty technical stuff to understand as you progress with her. Learning how to anti air is a definite must for sakura. You definitly don’t want people jumping onto you freely. Use crouching fierce to anti air. Also her standing fierce kick to me is a pretty good poke. I would only do it at max distance though. Crouching middle kick is also a good poke to me cause if you hit it even against a blocking opponent, go into light hurrican kick. that would leave you closer to your opponent and your are completely safe. After that, you can start things off with light attacks, or medium attacks, or grab or block of you think they are going for dragon punch or some invincible move. Also your crounching light punch is really fast so I do suggest using that after the light hurricane kick. That’s all I can come up with. I do suggest looking up Uryo who plays sakura really well on AE. He’s got some pretty good setups.

drunkninja42 did you get any info on the dates? We already have some people interested in the tournament pending the dates.

Sounds good. I’m usually on of a morning (I work nights for the next week or two). Just message me before you send a game invite, my fiance uses my Live account sometimes so it shpws me online when I’m really not.

One thing I can tell you now ; Sakura’s allllllll about the stun. You make them guess wrong once or twice and even T. Hawk should be seeing stars. Abuse crouching fierce, but don’t forget she has other AA options, like a lv. 2 charged fireball or a well spaced jab DP for jump ins at a distance. Also, use her EX Tatsu resets sparingly; go for them when they’re getting close to stun and are apt to make a mistake out of worry; if you land a hit confirm while they’ve still got plenty of stun left, combo into DP instead for more damage, stun, and a knockdown.

Look forward to training!

Nothing definite out of anyone yet, sometimes these things don’t get a date until like a week before, so it can be hard getting anyone to commit to a date early on. I’m going to say most likely the 2nd or 3rd weekend would be best. That probably has the least chance of interfering with any other events based on the schedules they’ve had in the past. So at this point, just pick something and we’ll roll from there. From what it looks like, Saturdays would be the best days with the most people available. Unfotunately we probably won’t be able to fit everyone in no matter if it’s Saturday or Sunday, but I definitely think a Saturday would give a better chance as far as overall turnout goes.

I need to work on the timing for it. Getting the Kunai to land deep is a little tricky, but I’m getting it down better. And I’ll be working on other combo options for her too.

This is awesome. Sorry I haven’t made it to the store yet, I’ll keep trying each weekend. I went ahead and registered by sending you an email.
