Spooky Announces EVO2012 Will Be His Last Stream

I respect what you said, and I can understand why you said but reading this made me realize how people on the outside (relatively speaking) have zero to no clue about what is happening. Wow! Perception is reality I guess?

Yeah that post is really misguided.

Yeah Magus, I know you know what I mean here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Little has been explained about either Gootecks or Spooky’s departures.

Of course not. It’s better that people don’t know anyways. What I’ve posted here is proabbaly as much clue as youre goign to get for now.

I understand that from your point of view, but to the outsiders like me who don’t know shit, it’s pretty frustrating.

Step #1 for sp00ky being appreciated @ EVO - gdlk music.

Ugh, just reading this thread, I feel dreadful for not going to see Sp00ky and giving him my appreciation in person during CW4.

But dude, just fucking know, I have loved what you have done every step of the way. Though I was really sad to not see you play poverty games, the quality of your shows was just unmatched and you were real as fuck all the way through.

If this means the return of the classic poverty streams, I welcome this with open arms.

Not to mention that Fighting games are usually so much more entertaining, but these starcraft players just don’t seem to understand. It is not fun to watch at all, but people think that if they watch they can learn, and if they are platinum there are apparently the 1337est guy on the block.

The FGC was built on respect, and rank didn’t earn it, it took time, dedication, and respect at the local scenes and arcades. Sure, I’m not nearly as good as 90% of players, but I’ve still got respect among the guys I play with. The best comment you get after a match of starcraft or LoL is “GG.” I’ve gotten compliments, and even tips to improve my game. I guess it all depends on the crowd, and sadly the starcraft guys have it all wrong.

Sometimes we don’t appreciate enough the good things we have until we lose them.

Hope spooky goes back to doing the things he enjoyed, because I don’t think he made this decision without thinking it through first, even in NCR where he went to play and iplaywinner streamed, he was helping haunts doing commentary. Spooky has earned a break.

I agree completely. Straight up, he deserves the Cannon Award. And I’m pretty positive he would have been my choice for this year’s award if I had given it thought even if he hadn’t decided to step away from streaming.

It’s really amazing what he has done. He is literally a world leader in video game streaming, which is a pretty big fucking deal. And I have to say that while I don’t know him well, I can say this: since SF4 dropped, I’ve had phases of going to tourneys often and then getting out of that routine for various reasons, as is common… One of my “going to tourneys” phases started about a year ago, when Spooky was really establishing himself as the best of the best in streaming. I was regularly attending events that he was streaming for the first time, and I had never spoken to him and even though I’d played on stream a couple of times, I had zero reason to believe that he had a clue who I was given how busy he is when he’s streaming. And yet, more than once, he approached me, addressed me by name, asked me how I was doing and what I thought of the latest FGC news and such. That was really fucking cool. He had every excuse not to give a fuck, loaded with responsibilities and surrounded by the “inner circle” of the scene, but there he was making an effort to reach out to a fellow lover of fighting games. Spooky is not only one of the most influential members of the worldwide fighting game (and video game) scene, he is also one of the good guys.

I wish him the best during his time off and that he will find happiness both in and out of the FGC.

Worst news.

all the fucking babies cried hard and spooky caved, streaming on twitch. Fuck people and their DansGame and Kappa

I don’t care dodgers, I love getting e-mail updates on when my shit is on.

Spooky talking about some rumors and streaming. starts at about 4:30 http://www.twitch.tv/teamsp00ky/b/316936351

Spooky Isn’t quitting. Awesome! The kings of poverty are back! Well, actually, not the kings of poverty anymore, but they’ll be back! Thanks for the news, I would have missed this if you didn’t post it.

Can I suggest that the mods lock this topic? It’s proven that Spooky is not quitting, just reorganizing, and seeing some people pretend that they know what happens behind their keyboards makes me SMH.

just draw your own conclusion and use context clues

after busting ass for the past few years, he prolly doesnt like the way things are going and would rather pull out than follow the apparent path in front of him

Well what the hell else would you expect to happen? That’s what you do when you’re streaming or announcing. What more do you want? Some sparklers around the screen? Maybe a bunch of jugglers dancing around the monitor while you’re watching and commentating? Jeesh, talk about being jaded.

What I don’t get is that Spooky admitted he went back on twitch cuz he was a sell out for that ad money… Then why is he quitting streaming the mini-majors that may give the same amount of ad-revenue as Big Two? Not to mention he’ll have that viewership for the whole day. He also said he’ll stream some random games he enjoys but really who would watch that? Iirc he only gets like 200-1k viewers streaming random shit. If he really was for that ad money he’d focus on tournaments that demand him rather than whatever he pleases…

However, I believe Spooky will still stream Big Two, Weekend events at Next level, Curleh Mustache and the BIG majors, and just less of the random crap. I doubt he’ll do shit like the SCV invitational, Cross Assault or small majors like Civil War again. I just don’t know his reasoning for deciding that.
