Easy to see where he’s coming from. When you stream an event you almost never get to actually play the games you like unless you have people to run stream for you as a backup, and are pretty limited in your ability to actually engage other community members since you have to constantly monitor the stream/connection quality. It’s pretty much a full-time job while you’re doing it. The upside is the amount of people who he’s inspired to stream their own events, now we have several events from scenes all over the world to watch every night of the week. Much respect to him, and I hope he gets much enjoyment out of his next endeavor.
Man, you guys need to realize Spooky does more than just make sure the stream is good.
While I was typing this **Spooky **was the one disabling gems on the SFxT stream setup at Civil War.
He makes sure the stream has matches up and tries to keep shit on schedule and get the hype matches on there.
He steps in to commentate when others are unable to.
He’s keeping the sponsors pleased by making sure he’s running the ads and giving them shoutouts.
Then he has to put up with dudes bumping his equip, tripping over wires, shitty internet, power failure, stream monsters shitting on him for not having kappa faces, DHS keeping his shit, scene/esports politics, traveling, etc.
You know he has to be exhausted.
Spooky’s effort and work is immeasurable. If anyone deserves to make a living off this pro gaming shit, it’s him.

Fuck. Hate to see the legendary Spooky leave. I always enjoyed his streams. He put in a LOT of work to give us streams to see some of the hypest and craziest shit that we would not have seen otherwise.

I fondly remember AH3’s JP console release last year, with Arturo and NerdJosh pissing around with netplay on Sp00ky’s stream. Even Sp00ky had a few sessions to himself. Fun times.
Sp00ky’s done too much work for the communities of both popular and niche fighting games for too long, enough to inspire me to help out my own local scene with footage recording duties for a good while.

Spooky is an invaluable part of the scene, and it’s a huge loss but I wish him the best in whatever he wants to do. If anything people should be more inspired to step up and take more of a role in streaming/promotion.
on the bright side, maybe some of the entitled stream monster fucks will appreciate high PV streams more now?
