Heh, yeah, I know it has a huge tech window but I still manage to get caught with it from time to time.
Finally got around to watching the grand finals of SSF4 and MvC3 at Final Round. Both of those were fantastic.

i do, i do.
grats on your video making front page gimpy.
Huh, didn’t even notice you had a video on the front page, nice work!
I really hate having infinites in this game, especially one like Cap’s that seems so applicable. If I get caught in one, the fun factor goes straight to 0 and you know that I’m no longer having fun. Isn’t fun the reason we play this game?
At the same time, I don’t want to be “that guy” to tell you you can’t use infinites against me because it’s “not fair.”
So I guess I’m kind of torn on the subject. All in all, I hope it gets patched out.
Just think of all the meter you are getting from the infinite. There are worse ways to lose a character.
I don’t like easy infinites. Traditionally many of the infinites in fighting games were either really conditional or hard to perform. Easy infinites break to the game too much IMO.
common now… let get on the level of brain less shooters. whats the fun if 8 year olds cant do it
well as somebody who actually PLAYS captain (a RARE BREED I might add) I’d like to say that while yes this infinite DOES have impact on his game it also won’t QUITE be as stupid as it seems. You’ll still want to do combos into the 500k or so BEFORE you start the infinite - so at least you don’t have to wait for 40 seconds while you hear “SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH SHIELD SLASH” etc.
but hey, I’m sure some day I’ll do that in tournament to somebody JUUUUST to stall out the last 30 seconds for a tournament win against their 2nd character LOL
it’s pretty stupid though - but I intend on using it when it comes down to “i have to win” matches.
been working on the muscle memory to get it down - it’s coming along, but don’t expect me to be super super lame though peoples
sorry, i was a little drunk last night… kinda sounded like a dick oops:sweat:
Standard marvel answer to infinites has always been “don’t get hit.” Sounds like a good answer to me. This is a game where potentially any connected hit leads to losing a character, I’d rather it be in an infinite that gives me a shitload of meter and can be dropped on accident than something else.
another winner - it really gives a TON of meter. I was going to make a video about meter gain vs meter loss but I didn’t finish before I got back to Western Washington. Basically if you just do the infinite off like a crouching heavy in order to kill them you give them like 3 bars ++++ LOL
which is why I’m working on finding the largest combos that lead into the infinite reliably I possibly can - best to do the big damage and not do the huge meter trade for as long as is possible eh?
I just think it’s bad design if a single combo can 100% a character with a couple exceptions, such as if certain characters have very low health for balance (i.e. Phoenix) or if you have to use a buttload of meter yourself to do it. That’s just my opinion though, I realize the Marvel series never really had balance at it’s heart. I guess that’s another reason why I lean towards SSF4’s game design.
However, speaking of balance, I can’t believe how hard Sentinel got hit by the nerf hammer. I mean, I’ll agree that he had too much health but to lose 400k is huge!
sent is still sent! hahaha watching Wednesday night fights there were probably MORE sents than before on the stream XD
anyway, I’ll be back in western Washington this weekend.
learned a lot over break marvel wise, also learned that because i haven’t thought of super at all for the last few months i honestly just don’t remember how to play so i gotta hit the training mode for a bit lol
I think Sentinel will be fine in the end. He still does boss damage and has his stupid hyper armor on 2B and his launcher. People just have to be a little more careful about calling him out for assists and such rather than at every possible moment.
I jumped online and played some matches last night (haven’t touched the game since I played with you guys over here). It seems people have subbed out Sentinel for Phoenix who, honestly, I think is even more annoying. I really hate the mechanic of Dark Phoenix. I wouldn’t mind just having it resurrect her, but XF3 Dark Phoenix makes me mad salty. I really need to work on my snap-ins.
Snap that bitch in. Snapbacks are a direct counter to level 3 X Factor and are way more important than in MvC2. Haven’t played much lately, busy skiiing and getting EWU stuff taken care of. Will be attending some sort of class next week.
If every character can do 100% combos, that’s balanced. Again, it’s Marvel, the solution has always been “block better, approach smarter, don’t get hit.”
I’ll be home tomorrow - anyone playing Marvel?
I might have some time to play today if you are interested Gimpy.
sorry good sir jammo but i was completely exhausted after the drive and just layed around doing nothing all night LOL
No worries man it’s cool. We all need to get together again soon.
How about this Friday? I WANT ME SOME MARVEL.
