Are you talking about doing a ranbat sort of setup? For those who don’t know, this is how I understand them (though I’ve never played in one so I might have details wrong):
“Ranbats” (short for ranking battles) are like “mini-tournaments” that are held every 2-3 weeks (or whenever we want I guess). Details of the tournament format are up to us (i.e. double elimination, 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches, etc.) and depending on how you place, you receive a certain number of points. Points are accumulated throughout the “season” and the player(s) with the most points at the end get some sort of prize. You could do something like make everyone throw in a couple bucks at each ranbat and split the pot at the end, or we can try to do something a little more creative. There’s no penalty for not showing up for a ranbat except that you lose that chance to get points.
Maybe what Tony has in mind is completely different though. If so, don’t mind me…

initially rather than just placing in a tournament to start things off i’d like to do a recorded round robin event so that everyone gets to play everyone - our group isn’t so massive that RR tournaments become impossible for this purpose - once we have a bit of a ranking in place we can move on to more traditional means with ranking challenges mixed in

Where will the first Marvel meet be at?
I should be hosting something on the first Saturday after the game comes out - unless HoP is gonna have a big get together - his house is much more suited to it than my apartment would be
but i plan on playing Saturday all day - and I’ll be recording/uploading the closer/better matches with those of you I play with on that day!
This month is a bit crazy for me and I’m trying to figure out what weekends I might have free. So, if I had to guess, the first MvC3 meet will likely not be at my house, especially if you guys want to meet up the first weekend it’s out.
Tony - something to consider is that we’ve always been meeting on Fridays because there are at least a couple people who didn’t want to meet up on Saturdays. I realize your work schedule is probably what’s setting your preference but I just wanted to give you a heads up! :tup:
Honestly MvC3 hasn’t quite grabbed my attention like it has for most people. I’m sure I’ll pick it up but it’s hard to say how much I’ll stick with it.
No promises yet, but I can aim to throw together something at my place the Friday after Marvel hits if Derek can’t do it. I have the room to fairly comfortably accommodate ten or so people with three set ups.
OH friday will work just as well - probably even better actually - i’ll keep mine on fridays for the time being.
So - expect that I’ll be hosting something (my place isn’t that huge!) friday february 18 AND maybe also february 19th.
can’t WAIT to play that game haha
but if anybody else can host i can probably make it too

Just talked to my wife. She is cool with hosting on the 18th. So, it’s up to you guys. I think my place out in the valley would probably work better than Cheney for most of us, but whatever works best for the group works best for me.
i can agree with the fact that cheney is far away from most people - 18th at yours should work. I can probably still host if anyone still wants to play Saturday the 19th at my place in cheney!
Haha, depending on how busy I am, I might be up for doing it again the next day at your place.

hey HoP/jammo3k/whoever else may host an event - we should add all of our information to the first post so that we can get things rolling easier in the future - not a specific address or anything but at least a general location, phone number to text/call, and if anybody is hosting anything we should try to keep on it in the first post

MvC3 will be on hand for sure but I bet you guys can convince them to get a SSF4 setup going as well.
