Spiders United - Juri Q&A and General Discussion

Anyone besides me not feelin’ Juri’s Swap Costume? Hwoarang, Sagat and Asuka’s are all cool, but Juri, IMO, continues her streak of underwhelming alt costumes (except for Alt 2, color 10 in SSFIV)

  1. crouch attack > LK FB release is her go to frame trap. You’re +4 on block. If someone sticks a limb out after the LK FB, you can beat them out with cr. MP/MK. Once you condition them not to hit anything you can start mixing in overheads, CADCs, etc.

  2. Her overhead is +3 on hit, 0 (neutral) on block. You can only combo from it if you land a counter hit. Being that Juri only has 4 frame normals, you can throw out a crouching LK after it and it won’t combo (without CH), but you may catch a counter hit, someone moving forward to throw, someone jumping, etc. and can follow up. Anything with 3 frame start up or less will beat it obviously.

Asuka’s is pretty cool especially when paired with Ibuki, Lili’s is the best I think. Zafina’s outfit for Juri is meh – hoped for a Taekwondo Hwoarang (I think Tekken3) outfit that’d be sweet I think. and because I’m a Chun player too – a freaking Panda outfit for Chun? I know she’s Chinese but shit looks retarted
I just got the colors and presets just to see what they were
and those pearl-incandesance colors --they are little toooo glowy

Been wanting to incorportate F+ (Hp+HK) into my game plan.
After a jump in, I can usually get it off in the lab pretty consistently. Not so much with the Cr. normals.
and doing it Online seems really hard against mashy humans and wonky lag!
to do it you essentially have to Block the attack (duh) then let the stick sort of fall neutral right?
that is how I do it in the lab because if I do it too quickly, Juri, Chun and Ken both throw their fireballs out, which is really funny because I’m going from back to foward. LoL. at least Down/back for crouching attacks makes some sense. Just wondering how you guys are fairing with this and if you have any tips.

Another weird note unrelated. Blocked a Raven jump in today, Held straight back-- no biggy; but when he landed he crossed me up? WTF – broken cross ups flood this game

The Alpha Counter (fw+hk+hp) is best used against multi-hit moves. For example you can punish Ken’s “safe” 3hit Shoryu+tag cancel with it.
It’s risky to use if not on reaction, if it’s baited, a Launcher comes out which will get punished hard.
I use Cammy, I can get big damage off her Alpha Counter xx Tag Cancel. Juri’s Alpha Counter is not great imo.

You can make a Pandora Juri knockoff pretty easy with black and that neon purple color. The only thing missing are those glowing white tattoo’s and hair.

Here’s a tip for those that may not know, if you are already holding a Fuhajin charge but want to do Senpusha instead. Do the motion for pinwheel then release your charge = Pinwheel instead of Fireball.

When I’m playing really good-- after 2 hours I lose focus and shift to autopilot too.
I either need to play really focused or not at all.

Hi guys i was experimenting a bit with the dash cancels. I wonder how they work effectively because when i do my blockstring (clk,st.lp.cmp) and then dashcancel it feels like i can keep the pressure on without them hitting anything.

So i went into the brady guide and saw that juri’s dash is 20 frames and her mp recovers in 12. So if you dash cancel out of cmp which is 0 on block are you +8 then when you do it or what’s the deal?
Sorry if i might sound confused but that’s how i feel atm haha

edit: ok i just tested it with autoblock on and when i do the first string and i dashcancel it they dummy stays on autoblock the whole time so i guess you are advantagious?
K after putting the dummy on auto jab it seems that it can hit me if i try to press lk afterwards

dont forget the start up of pinwheel and the dash animation. I.e. what frame can you dash out of pinwheel charge?

yeah i haven’t taken that into account. Ah well a failed test but still a notable thing tho. Dunno if normals that otherwise were guarantee punish are still punishable now if you charge backdash

if you want a good damage confirmable mid-screen combo then you gotta use tag cancel or super.

no, you’ve gotta add the dash and the charge move so it’s like this assuming you do everything correctly on the first possible frame.

15 (recovery) + 5 (the rest of the active frames) - 20 (dash) - 5 (earliest possible dash cancel) = - 5 frame disadvantage

What other situations can Juri use her AA/ chp x jc > jhp > cmk, besides when someones jumping in the air towards me? Also any tips on how I can effectively time a LK pinwheel after the cmk, can’t seem to get it to hit, unless I’m supposed to leave a short delay before using cmk and how to time an AA with cross rushing Juri in?

How do I go about Cammy and her jab pressure? I was hit with one and I couldn’t break out of it. Is alpha counter the ONLY way to break out of it or is there a better way?

You can sneak in a Kasatushi or use cr.MK.

what is the timing on j.hp from c.hp jc j.hp?

Well, your opponent must be in the air to do it for starters. When you press cr. HP, hold up+forward and press HP on your way up.

i took a break from this game and i cant do her crouch fp xx jump cancel jump fp ect ect combo for the life of me when i launch with bison anymore…

curious, until i get my execution back is there any other alternatives that do okay damage? I found crouch mp, crouch mk xx pinwheel for like 260ish :frowning:

How do you deal with Juri’s cr.hp shenanigans and the multiple options she gets from this, this is my biggest gripe when fighting against Juri.
Can anyone give an overview how to counteract some of her options from this. I play Jin in this matchup.
