Spider-Man, The Amazing Thread

I would just like to say that if JRJR would become the regular artist on ASM I would drop it quicker than you can type JRJR. I might be alone in this but there a very few books on which I can tolerate that dude.

Agree with Slott though, but not just him, Kelly is too good.

This is truth. JRJR needs to never ever draw a book again, I have yet to see a book of his I enjoyed.

Oh and Joe Kelly is my most favorite writer of all time. I Kill Giants (of his recent stuff) was amazing.

The fourth Spider-Man movie has been scrapped in favor or a reboot in 2012. Wow just… wow.

I don’t want to sit through another retelling of the origin, dammit! I hope they just tell the origin in, like, a three minute opening credits montage.

Yeah I hope they breeze through it like the Hulk reboot did.

Personally I’m quite happy about this. I hope the new movie hews closer to the comics, especially in terms of battle banter and delivery of said banter. That was something sorely lacking from the Raimi films.

the movie just got one more day’d.

Wacker talks about the 2010 teaser image.

Dan Slott talks about Mysterio. I REALLY hope he follows up on what PAD did with Mysterio in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. I’ll be sure to check ASM out tomorrow though!

Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) is going to direct the next Spiderman movie…really?

You know what? That was my first impression whne I learned that Sam Raimi was going to direct the 1st Spiderman movie.

I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but that’s the only movie he’s done outside of music videos vs Raimi being in TV and movies for forever.
I think the whole thing is just dumb. Why they couldn’t compromise with Raimi or push the date back makes no sense.

Still holding out hope, though. Maybe he’ll prove everyone wrong.

Isn’t it too soon for a reboot? I gotta say though, I’m getting pretty excited because just from reading the article on Crawl Space, it seems as though they will be going in the USM direction. If that’s the case, this movie will be awesome. Ever since I started reading USM, it’s been vastly superior to ASM in every way. Still, I was comfortable with Tobey and the first two movies were perfect.

HA! I was watching Big Love last night and was surprised that Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa of Sensational Spider-Man fame wrote the episode! :clapdos:

What’s the latest Spidey issue again? 618 or 619? Cuz 618 was great IMO and the end where Aunt May started ranting was prob. the best thing I’ve read about her yet XD
Mephisto must be having a celebration in his realm now at the site of that.

Anyways, Sano, is the Clone Saga mini worth reading over the original 90s issues?

^^ It’s 619. I have read a few issues of the clone saga mini & I personally felt mixed about it just like the original one. The good part about this one is that they got rid of all the filler & they’re issuing the main story so it’s pretty straightforward but, it feels like the pacing of the story is happening too fast. I haven’t read all of it yet but, that’s just my opinion on how I felt when reading the story.

I just caught up with the current issues of ASM. The new Rhino looks cool, but what’s up with the random scythe? I think the best part about #617 was Aleksei’s sort of bleak personality throughout the main story and the back-up. Besides that, I’ve really enjoyed the Mysterio story so far. Honestly, I’ve never really liked the character except for the Ultimate version because he’s far more cunning than the original. However, the idea of him working for the maggia is perfect for his character. Not only that, but Mr. Negative is easily my favorite new Spidey villain, add gang fights and Hammerhead ramming through shit and you’ve got one of the best ASM tales in quite a while. I don’t know how much longer they are going to toy around with this whole single guy routine, but Carlie definitely needs to be used more often, she’s perfect for Peter. Oh yeah, and more Marcos Martin please.

Apples and spaceships. I’m not sure there’s a real way to answer that question.

The original, anything that was good about got shoved under a rug and never came up for many years. And the stories would start in one book and finish in another changing artists and writers which is hardly ever a good idea. You do have lots of great Bagley art (and lots of characters he came up with that you’ll never see again) but a horrible editorial mandated conclusion. The brightest spot was the death of Aunt May but you might save time by tracking down ASM #400. On the plus side a collection for it is either out or comig soon as most of the stories were hard to read since it did jump from book to book. So you can go ahead and judge it for yourself if you want.

I love the new Clone Saga and have no real complaints. It’s the story the way it was intended to be told so by default it’s going to miss things from the original and move faster because it’s the horse before the carriage, not the other way around. It’s not like a movie adaptation of a story where they pick and choose what they want to do. It’s more like the original script of a story that got way out of control. Oh, and Nuack has done an amazing job channeling '90s art. There’s one issue that has HUNDREDS of Peter Parker clones. You gotta see it!

Read both if you can. If you are short on time read the new series. One’s not really meant to swap out the other. They are what they are.

Say WORD Spider-Ham TPB coming out! :clapdos:

Thanks for the info Sano
…and fuck yeah for SpiderHam TPB!

Yeah I have the entire Spider-Ham series but the issues are just in piss poor condition because when you’re a kid you don’t care about stuff like that lol! I brought issue #2 to school one day and my best friend at the time wrote my name on the cover. He thought he was doing me a favor. I was all like “ARG YOU CAN’T WRITE ON COMIC BOOKS MAN!” Good times!
